isai rasigan :
that was a most decent and humble request...but u have to understand one thing dude...the letter has been wrongly sent to manirathnam and bharathi raja sir.. you (or mani or bharathi when they recieve ur letter) should redirect it to ilaiayaraja......

Certainly you have every right to express your view of preferring IR's music.
I think (again this is a personal opinion) that these directors you have mentioned are going with the time and market trend/economics during the time. If they go and listen to each and every fan's request then I dont think it will be viable.
I was expecting that you would ask these movie makers to come up with good movies amongst trash like Thiruda Thirudi and Thirumalai etc. That would be a more answerable request I feel.

I completely agree with V. They are juts doing what would suit the current generation and trying to make things more saleable. All they can do from their side is to stick to their class and avoid making meaningless movies.
wellwisher,
Aishwarya Baba kooptae varala, neenga koopta eppadi?! Don't give out you e-mail though. Salman might spam! :-)

I dont think its a question of saleability alone that makes the combinations I mentioned unavailable ... and not the current trend too ... i sincerely feel that there are thousands of people with a wish same as mine!

Isai rasigan,
I dont know anything about BR but Manirathnam has the best camaraderie with ARR, he said in an interview that "Theres no ego between ARR and I" if i dont like a tune he starts fresh again.
I dont think IR can be like this to MR, the music of Dalapathy and Anjali were ahead of its times but can IR give a more understanding rapport is a big question!
Otherwise its hard to understand why MR was on the lookout for a new composer after Dalapathy.

MR had a problem with GV and he went on to do a movie under the banner 'Kavithalaya' for KB, hence IR was opted out from Roja, as IR and KB were not in good terms. when MR came back to IR for his nxt movie IR refused the offer....

MR would have never come back to IR cos Roja was a instant hit both in Tamil and Hindi.
Minmini got a national award and so did Rehman.
MR is no fool to come back to IR after such a stupendous success.
And is never going to come back to IR again.

rajasaanam
From well-informed sources I hear that MR "considered" IR to compose some songs for Iruvar as he would know the times of MGR and MK. bUt his unbeatable faith on ARR made him think otherwise and ARR did come up with a belter soundtrack which I still hold as his personal best ever!
It is soo easy for makkal to come up with speculation. MR also did not have a fall-out wth GV. GV was not willing to spend that much money for MR's Roja. My relatives own a huge amount of shares in GV Films Ltd. THey know what and how decisions are taken.
I too think that MR can never drop ARR unless ARR is busy with Intl projects and MR feels better not to hurry him up for tunes.

Due to last minute unforseen circumstances two of the Valentine day releases, Kangalaal Kaithu Sei and Autograph have been postponed.
Bharathiraaja’s Kangalaal Kaithu Sei was seen by his close friend Mani Ratnam on Tuesday night. Sources close to Lakshmi Movie Makers, the producers say that Mani liked the first half but found glaring inconsistencies in the climax. The producers and Bharathiraaja have decided to re-shoot some scenes and make the necessary changes.
Bharathiraaja who was going through rough times at the box-office recently has readily agreed to make the minor changes as the suggestion was made by one of India’s finest director, who understands the pulse of the audience! Remember that Bharathiraaja is also doing the villain role in Mani’s Ayutha Ezhuthu.
Cheran’s Autograph is also delayed as two areas of the film are yet to be sold. Cheran himself has turned producer with this film and the latest we hear is that the film will be releasing on Feb 19.
And now Srikanth and his Varnajaalam will have no opposition on lovers day weekend at the box-office.

As big an ARR fan as I am, I think Iruvar is among ARR's worst. Mani Ratnam should have given him a requirement that:
a) He should not use electronic instruments
b) He should not use North Indian singers (Asha Bhosle)
I didn't think he captured the music of the era particularly well. IR would probably have been better.

Heroine Revathi???????????????
For this killer combination heroine should be madhuri dixit. Revathi is an over hyped actress.

Revathy is a good actress.
sabesan,
are u listening?!! :-)
Kamal being the Hero, in the best interest of today's glamour dolls, Gauthami would be the best choice! ;-)

Revathy is stereo typic and main problem with her is that she thinks too much of herself. and others are fools. she cant come close to lakshmi, suhasini, rohini. These people are a class apart. Sorry I forgot to mention Saritha as well.
