Oldie Lover-
I am not 100% certain:
Kaana Inbam kanindhadheno
Kaadhal thirumana oorvalam thaano
Vaanam sindhum maamazhaiyellaam
Vaanam thoovum then malaro
Megam yaavum peroliyodu
Melam pole muzhanguvathaale
Kaanaa inbam kanindhadheno—
Kannal mozhiye minnal ellaam
Vinnil vaana vedikkayo
Mannil perugum vellam poley
Manathil pongum premayinaale
Kaana inbam kanindhadheno—
- from ‘Sabash Meena’ – 1958
- TA Mothi & P.Suseela
- Lyrics: Ku.Ma. Balasubramaniam
- Music: TG Lingappa
- Ragam: Bagesri
What a wonderful composition! This was the most popular song sung by TA Mothi.
He is all but forgotten today, but had sung some enthralling songs in the 50s. With a voice which sounds like an amazing amalgam of AM Raja and VN Sundaram, he has left behind some mesmerising melodies- ‘O Mohana Senthamarai’- Magudam Kaatha Mangai, ‘Kandukkonden naane’-Kannin Manigal, 'Ullathile'-Moondru Penngal, ‘Nee Neerodaadaathe’- Vaanaradham, Konjum mozhi maindhargale’- En Veedu, ‘Maalai nila vara vendum’ – Thaai Ullam, ‘Gundu gundu malligai’- Athma Saki (Athma Shanthi?), ‘Nilavile Sallabamaai’-Manohara—these lovely songs usher in wistful memories of another day.
Even in ‘Kaana Inbam kanindhadheno’- Mothi’s brigha laden tenor simple scintillates in the alluring alaaps! PS is enchanting as usual!

A nice song to hear as well as to see. Full rain. Acting hero and under acting heroin. symbolically renched birds. B.R. Bandulu has extrcated the latent quality of Sivaji. His asthana MD TG Lingappa gave many good songs to him ( Thangamalai Rahashyam, Muradan muthu etc.). Camera was Maruthirao/Karnan. All the songs in the movie were good. Story, dialogue and asst.direction was by P. Neelakantan. Malini was famous in this Sabsh type films, Meena and sabhash Mapple (wiht MGR.) Entretaining movie.

Hi all,
This is a great song. Mothi's voice was unique, like CSJ's. Not many people can mimic his
voice. The Hindustani touch given to the song by
TGLingappa was superb, similar to the one by A M
Raja in Then nilavu 'kaalaiyum neeye, maalayum neeye'. I keep listening to mothi's duet with Balasaraswathy in 'thai ullam', 'maalai nila vara
vendum', a classic composition. Such a melodious
song.

Dear Mr. Saravanan,
I was humming this "kaaNaa inbam kanindhadhEnO" song and an interesting thing happened! Tell me if I am correct.
While singing the fourth line in the 2nd stanza, "mELam pOlE muzhanguvadhaalE" I connected with that 'thangamalai rahasiyam' song, 'amudhai pozhiyum nilavE' with the following lines,
"mELam pOlE muzhanguvadhaalE
punnagai veesi aarudhal kooRa
arugil varaadhadhEnO
arugil varaadhadhEnO
amudhaip pozhiyum nilavE....."
Tell me your views, please!

SK, my apoligies for noticing your post so late.
Yes, I too sang those two lines 'mELam pOlE muzhanguvadhaalE' and 'punnagai veesi aarudhal kooRa' just now and observed the similarity that you have pointed out. Both the lines are the last lines in their respective charanams and flow into the pallavi. And both by TG Lingappa.
But aren't the ragams of both the songs different?
I'm sorry I don't know much of classical music :(
