i was listening to "mellap pesungal" from "kasedhaan kadavulada". it goes "mellap pesidavo pirar ketkakkoodaamal". does this word exist in tamil? isn't this an example of lyrical abaththam? pls correct if wrong.

kEtkakkUdAmal = kEtkamudiyAdhavARu. it is a perfectly good thamizh coinage. kUduthal = iyaludhal.
btw, who was a the lyricist?

the most honourable lyrical abatham is the song from the latest film of kathik(i forgot the name)is the song 'vaa vaa en thalaiva, vanthuvidu en thalaiva'the line 'vanthuvidu en thalaiva' looks like a commitment to the heroine given by the hero.I think these lines are written to give the tune a complete shape

hi
thanks arul for that explanation. i was under the impression that all these vaali was taking tamil lovers for a ride:-))) guess i was wrong, but as a great soul said: kattrathu kaimannalavu, kallaadhadhu ulagalavu.
btw, i have a couple of more doubts. this time i am sure i am right.
varathu vantha naayagan from thaalaattu paadava. the problematic line is "ivan thalai vinayagan". what sense does it make in the context (its a lovey-dovey duet).
kanmaniye pesu fronm khaki sattai.

methinks vaali was just filling up the blanks with whatever occurred to him at that moment. isn't pillaiththamizh a paean, or song in praise? if so, how does it make sense here?

What is that song from Ratchagan, where Vali penned "Love Phobia" when he wanted to say "Love Mania"?
In Strawbeeey kaNNEy (another lyrical masterpiece right up there with Bharathi's works), the singer says "Jerry pazham pOl chinna udhadu". Is it a pronunciation deficiency or lyrical snafu? aandavaa!!

cram,
neelam pootha kangal, neelam paaindha udal are all expressions meant to symbolise inactivity or death! That should help you identify(!) some sense out of the lyrics.
When there are umpteen muqaabla kind of songs, which make absolutely NO sense, I'm surpised a lot of pure-tamil songs which actually make sense being picked up as abathaams here!!

Jurassic park-il irukum jodi,
they are singing jazz music.
since the scene was western kind of stuff,
texas was used, he sings with a beauty full looking "something" that is often in picaso's drawing.
Basically I stopped looking for meaning in these songs...waste of time.
