7GRC has brought tremendous success to YSR this year. This was then followed up by the phenomenal success of Manmadhan. Yuvan is at a peak in his musical career. With a number of hits under his belt, Yuvan is taking time out to concentrate on his family life also.
YSR plans to tie the knot with his long term girlfriend, Sujaya next year. Though it has been delayed for a couple of years, insiders believe that the wedding is to take place in the first half of 2005. This is a wonderful news for all YSR fans who can post their wishes for Yuvan and Sujaya here.

Though YSR is successful, I find majority of his songs mechanical..kind of without any emotional appeal...probably with the rare exception of `mun paniyA' which was quite sensitive...I'm not sure why his songs lack this spirit...not many of them are lasting (or going to last) for more than a few months, probably because of this lack of feeling...

Bet the person who opened the thread is a friend of Yuvan's or Sujaya's:-)
I have to agree with Mr. Engine on this matter. Some of Yuvan's albums are hits, but they lack expression. The songs are okay for a car ride, but nothing exceptional. Also, the last release 7G had similarity with Kadhal Kondean.
I am suprised that KR hasn't been able to pull himself into the big league, though, he does seem to be the more musically talented in the family. Barring IR of course, who probably is the most talented MD from Tamilnadu.

I was not very much impressed with his work on Manmadhan... Just as said before, thought was "okay for car ride" :)... But man after I saw the film I just couldn't stop listening to the album! I was just hooked to 'kathal valarthen'. It has been a while that a soundtrack had such an impact on me...

Anyone knows if they are going to release the OST for Manmathan as they did for kathal konden?
The BGM and that song... 'Chedi onnu molekude' are just awesome!

YSR has helped re-define mediocrity in TFM along with HarrisJ. Neither of them possess anything unique in their styles.

"Mediocrity" came into play way back in 1992. YSR and HJ cannot be given for that.

Not 1992 but from 1973.

Guest, probably you're right...the early 70's were mediocre...but it was corrected in 1976 and brilliance ruled for at least 15 years...

yeah. kAdhal koNdEn , 7G RC, manmadhan - all had very mediocre music to support them! ada pOngappA!!!
50% of the success of 7G RC & manmadhan is purely YSR's BGM.
after the GREAT, he is the ONLY one who has atleast understood the naunces of BGM.

After IR I think YSR is the best in re-recording. He not only concentrates on the songs but in re-recording also. His work in Nandha was just amazing.

Hmm..you sound like another HCIRF-turned-YSR fan :-))
kaadhal Konden had 3 copied/lifted songs and the main theme of 7G Rainbow Colony was a rehash of Johny's love theme. You can check it out here
http://www.iespana.es/i2fs/tamil-yuvan.html
So much for "nuances" in BGM. Earlier he had flicked one of Gladiator's themes in Nandha. Ada pongappa :-))
Commercial success is a fleeting thing these days. Whoever does a clever job of lifting and scores an instant hit is the numero uno for that week before another MD scores a hit the following week. As far as the tunes/melodies go both VS(Anbe Sivam, Parthibhan Kanavu etc.) and ARR(Kangalaal kaidhu sei) have done a far more commendable job than YSR, HJ and the other fakes masquerading as MDs.

i seriuosly have to agree with app_engine on his lack of emotional appeal.....his songs are so mechanical and he gives out a lot of scrappy songs for a man who is just 3 yrs old in the industry......the kind of consistency that ARR and IR showed in their early days was tremendous......7GRC is also a very mediocre album in comparison with ARR and IR standards.....that's y i feel IR and ARR are the masters and all the others are commons....

Watched the movie manmathan y'day.
I'm at a loss of words to narrate the excellence of chimbu and team.
Yuvan has done a marvelous job especially in BGM which can't be compared with any of his previous ones. He's really outperformed. Hats off Yuvan!!! Especially the music he gives for the killer chimbu is quite amazing and lifting our indian cinema one level up.
Also few bit songs I could find only in the movie. Itz all mellifluous.
It'z is perfect mix of talents and technology.
This movie will be there in chimbu & yuvan 's record ever longer.

MADDY:
---i seriuosly have to agree with app_engine on his lack of emotional appeal.....
Yes, now it is TB fan's turn to cry about new MDs and their songs. Do you think TB's songs have same emotional depth as in IR's songs? Just ask any IR fan, he will tell you the real picture.
---his songs are so mechanical and he gives out a lot of scrappy songs for a man who is just 3 yrs old in the industry..
Again and again you show your ignorance about TFM related stuff. 3 years? get the fact correct before writing please.
---the kind of consistency that ARR and IR showed in their early days was tremendous...
In today's market, it is very difficult to give a hit. Even TB struggles these days. Don't bring in early days logic here. It won't work for present scenario. The title clearly says that he is the man of the moment, is it difficult to understand?
---7GRC is also a very mediocre album in comparison with ARR and IR standards.....
Yes, it is. I hope Udaya, Parasuram, New, Boys, AE should have been great to your ears.
---that's y i feel IR and ARR are the masters and all the others are commons....
If all the others are commons, TB should be a under-common?! (What else you would say for a non-performer/failure?)
In a recent interview Thundu bhai said that using today's technologies and synthesizers, anybody can score music. periya kandupidippu! itha thanayya 92-la irunthu ellorum solraanga...

imho, ysr tries to combine both ir's and arr's styles and sometimes he succeed, and many times not. but one thing is sure he has a huge potential.
don't underestimate him.

Yes Mr. Godfather it is ARR. Bcoz of Udaya, Parasuram, New... if you think ARR doesnt belong to that class then even IR wont be in there as there are 100s of crap IR's movies for which u wont even remember atleast one song.

So much of flag holding for Anbe Sivam which has 2 lifted songs "yele machi machi" and "yaar yaar sivam " . If YSR is guilty of plagiarism, VS is no saint who is equally notorious of lifting punjabi bangra tunes and making it big in Dhool, Villain.

hi nattamai, gud to see u after a long time......YSR's presence was felt only for 3 yrs.....see i had to check the records to find out YSR's debut whereas ARR's debut roja rocked the whole country.....
If arr's compositions udaya, parasuram are taken into consideration here then wat abt. IR's 100's of crap movies.......YSR's Aitheree,Mounam Pesiyadhe,winner......they were all crap.......
for ur info Boys and AE are excellent albums light years ahead of YSR's albums.....i dunt wanna be so critical of YSR cos i too like him....

How about taking ARR movies minus (Maniratnam and sankar movies) for any consideration?
The reason y' I'm pushing is, ARR gets free marketing with less efforts on those two directorials.
If people still praise about crap movie songs, that is the real success. In fact IR had lifted 100s of films with his music. As far as I remember, "Sankamam" is the only film which ARR did so.
