AR Rahman who was among the pilgrims to the Haj had a narrow escape where 250 of them were trampled to death.
Muslims customary journey to Mecca is a ritual in itself in their religion. It becomes important for them to have visited the holy place at least once in their life.
2 million Devotees, both men and women began their pilgrimage from Mecca to Mina bare-footed. While crossing the 50 foot bridge in Jamaarad, chaos reigned suddenly and people were falling all over the bridge. And a lot of people were trampled to death. Some escaped with serious injuries.
According to Arabia's minister Amin Madani, 250 were dead and 300 were injured. It was reported that the dead were sidelined in the path leading to the holy place. The injured were admitted in the closest hospital.
A lot of Muslims from Tamilnadu also began the holy pilgrimage. AR Rahman was also one of them, who went along with his mother. It was miraculous that both of them escaped unhurt.
AR Rahman had been to Mecca on the 28th of January. He stayed along with his fellow travellers. This is what he said.
"I was responding to a call 3 years back asking me to come to Mecca. I told that to my mother and we both planned the trip this time. Due to the heavy workload I came here a little late. If I knew before hand that the journey could have been completed in 5 days, I would have started a little earlier. I was under the impression that it would take me atleast one whole month for the tour. I see the real meaning of equality here, with everybody staying together and wearing the same clothes not caring about their social status."

you must hear it from horse's mouth cuz i saw an interview with Rahman (in mecca dressed in plain whites) in headlines today where he spoke nothing about his personal danger or a narrow escape.
anyways if the website is correct (i doubt) then we must count our blessings.

u would have seen all the contreversy involving the HAJ statement in arr group...i didnt post that message and have been telling time and again to that fellow gopal to post the below message and guess hes having some problem posting the message....i wanna know the culprit who posted that messaage...and moreover if you check few mails in that group..you would find thers is someone whoes sending anonymous mails....
for instance if u check MESSAGE NO --41240 from ranojoy it also has taurus8_0 , and how come this ??? plese think and help me out...coz i believe ur atleast one gud guy in the group who would help me out and clear my name.....please read the below message as well

Why dont you check the msg before posting???? i told u i didnt post the message which said hopeless hajj...and i am really angry with the guy who did it...i really wanna know the person who sent that anonymous mail with my nick name..using some software....these things should be brought to light otherwise ppl wont know....whoes good and whoes bad....and moreover how does the mail sent from RANOJOY also have my nick.....i wanna know whats the problem going on with this site....
p.s-- the mail which says hopless haj is moreover a replied mail...where is the ORIGINATING MAIL in this group...did u check that in the 1st instance...? and unfortunately the guy who sent it doesnt know i am a muslim and has played with my name...i hope you bring this to light and bring it known to the ppl of the group...otherwise.....the ALMIGHTY...wouldnt forgive any of the guys involved in the incident.in this world or the hereafter....ALL PRAISE TO GOD ALMIGHTY ALONE......
