bollywood vs kollywood!!!

I feel the Hindi audience, these days, is totally tasteless...seeing the kind of movies made in bollywood! They seem so unbelievably idiotic. And the music...even worse!!! Even lagaan and devdas, i feel were not as great as they claimed they were. Definitely not Oscar caliber :O When Lagaan was nominated for Oscar... we had pop-ups on MSN saying "Ask Spielerg to watch Lagaan"!!!! I mean idhellam konjam over-aa therialay??!! All the Hindi movies ever have is standard-aa one family bzness and a wedding and a holiday some place like NZ, Swiss et al. Tamil movies are far far better in content and music and everything. What do u say?

  Hindi films are good, but they are few and far between when compare to tamil (though tamil is not the best when it comes to good movie hit ratio, it has a better balance between masala and good movies than hindi). Tamil and Hindi has its share of masala movies as well
  
  The worrying factor is even if tamil films are good, they are not recognized. The problem is the regional bias and financial power. The same thing applies to Bengali and Malayalam movies, which fade out because of B/K/T ollywood. But you cant complain because we live in a country where every 200 km we find a new dialect and every 1000 km we find a new language and not all are unbiased.
  
  Late 70s and 80s was the best of tamil movies, largely because of some directors who think logically and are confident of their abilities, and most are director's movies than heroes and great BGMs (some good are greats because of IRs BGM). 50s, 60s and 70s were good, with some all time great movies. 90s was the worst (though the music was good ARR mostly and IR producing great BGM and some good/great songs... though I strongly feel movies should not hide behind music).
  
  In the 90s, though tamil had some good/great movies here and there, its probably because it followed the Hindi film way of going back to love stories and a new (or was it?) concept of inventing love in different forms (parkamale love, paarthu love, pesamale love ... and all other combination). Worst of all, there will be a interview by director when asked about whats new? the answer is always "we have shown love in a new way", worst thing is ... it still continues. Anyone can workout the next combination. Now the successful thing is mixture of dhanush (dance and some teenage stuff) and vikram (action) kind of movies. Also, actors like Simbhu saying "naan style pannama nadichirukaen athanala ithu different", and guys like Thangar bhachan thinks he made something great because he thinks its great (though one or two of his movies were good). This is the logic and confidence nowadays. So a director who made a really good movie has to do some unbeleivable marketing for their movie and pray god.
  
  Thought we cannot get totally rid of "Thaali/amma/appa/periyappa sentiment", "Heroism" and "Vijayakanth and his type of movies (we can only call it VK genre of movies)" ... we need to live with it. When these kind of movies fade away or contained to a minimum, TF is good. At this state, tamil is better than Hindi, because Hindi is worse, not because tamil is very good.
  
  Lately, tamil movies are producing some sensible/very good movies and surprisingly these are hits, hope this continues and some sensible movies are supported and every director dont include something illogical for the sake of being different.

  If you appreciate IR's music, unga ideasa correctana forumle use pannunga. Vera etho forumle solla vendiyathu ellam inge sollringa. Ella threadiyum cover pannunga, intha threadle ella karuthayim solringe. Vijayakanth padam pakra mathiri irukku.
  
  Everyone knows IR is great, that does not mean ARR has not done a good job. ARR has done some good work and given a new dimension to TFM. We have a variety because of IR and a ARR. Both have done some mind boggling compositions.
  
  "Maatran thotathu malligayum manakkum". You need to learn things whichever section of the globe the idea comes from, if it is sensible and fits your situation. Your own idea should be weighed along with those ideas. "Mei porul kaanbathu arivu". Thats the way to improve. IR uses WCM and ICM heavily. He knows whats best in both the system and using it. Instead of saying IR thaan best, avar podrathu isai mathavanga podrathu pasai. Ithe mathiri Rajendar dialogue pesamal, appreciate the music irrespective of the creator and give due credits to the creator. If you dont appreciate, atleast give some logical reasons before bashing someone or just ignore that music. Instead of doing some PR work for IR's music.

  on contrast director seran madhiri aalungalum irukaanga..we should encourage directors like seran my making his autograph a hit..so that many more directors will be encouraged to take quality tamil movies.
  
  on same lines hindi la ram gopal varma is trying new new stuff in his movie. i happened to see the movie "Ab Tak Chhappan". nice movie with no sentiments, songs, romance blah blah blah..worth watching...

  I too agree that ab tak chappan was excellent ..But Ram Gopal verma is limitng his circle to underworld/terror films ..!!!!But within that circle he is extremely creative !!!!
