wish HJ be successful ! and wish zara zara becomes a hit. If we can plant his feet in hindi, it will be a welcome relief from the recycle masters and copy cats.

The lyrics sucks esp zara zaraa. Surprisingly, Jayshrees hindi is heavily accented. Born and brought up in Bombay i expected a much refined pronunciations.
Did you guys listen to Ashoka the great? After listening to the songs(Annu Malik)they might rename the title to "Ashoka from Moore Market"

zara zara is really painful. BJ's vioce sounds havily accented and the song's attention grabbing strength seems to have decreased considerably ...def'ly not cuz already heard it n times. . but she doesn't really seem to be putting any emotions ... sounds like very lackadaisical singing ... HJ must have used someone else if BJ was not comfy with hindi ... classic tune wasted ...
other songs were ok, I guess. ...

Harris Jayaraj's music may have set the cash registers ringing for the music company that released 'Minnale'. But Jayaraj a jingle composer-turned music director has not many films in hand, but for a couple. It's the high rate he is charging, says a know-all. While Rehman has proved himself tune after tune, Jayaraj has still to establish his credentials, say others. 'With the money he demands, I can make a whole film', says an exasperated producer.

According to a telugu movie magazine he is charging Rs 1 crore for a high budget vekatesh starrer. I guess the movie became high budgeted after they included HJ in it :>

On first hearing... "Oh mama mama.." & bit song "Kaise mein kahun..." (I am sure its by Sonu nigam, only the humming is by kaykay, IMO). "Sach keh raha hai..." by KayKay was also good. The original song "Azhagiya theeye" was good, Shaan did not make that kind of justice to the same song.
I liked Sonu Nigam's rendering in the songs "Oh mama.." & "kaise mein". He's done good job. I liked him even in the bit song "Kaise mein kahun..".
As someone "Vaseegara" is far better than "Zara Zara".

Subhash K Jha paints his reviews with superlatives as usual... But then again this guy is not exactly biased against "South Indians". He holds Ilaiyaraja and ARR in high regard, even though all that goes to waste when he describes their music, for example 'Lagaan', thus.... "Rahman has done two masterly "period" scores earlier - 1947 Earth and Zubeidaa (and, of course the unreleased Water). Lagaan goes beyond all these".
Baloney, IMHO.

most over-hyped! the music is good, but why is that people calling it the best they have heard it till date etc. This is ridiculous, unless this is the first album they heard since they are born.

Rediff on RHTDM : Magic, music, masti...
RHTDM clearly lacks all three!
EXCERPTS FROM THE ARTICLE
The album comprises seven similar-sounding tracks.
Bolo bolo by Shaan and Oh mamma mamma sound so alike that it's hard to tell where the first ends and when the second begins. Sameer's nonsensical lyrics don't help, either.
Bombay Jayshree (yes, that's her name!) next, humming Zara zara. This tender melody could have fared better with a more expressive voice.
RHTDM lacks the popular appeal of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai or the freshness of Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. It's strictly regular!

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein
(Saregama India, Rs 55)
Can't resist advising the marketers of this album. Instead of viewing it as a minor release, sprinkle its music clips on the television very liberally and push this product. For, this really young, really melodious, album has many potential buyers who are always waiting for something like this.
A remake of a Tamil film starring Madhavan and Raima Sen, RHTDM,s film's music is by Harris Jayaraj who makes his debut in Hindi films after having composed the soundtrack for the Tamil original. This album has another newcomer: Bombay Jayashree whose name reminds of Malaysia Vasudevan, the male voice in Awaara Bhanwra in Rajiv Menon's Sapnay.
What makes this album engrossing? Among other things, Jayaraj seems to have a clear idea of what the young listeners (anybody between 15 and 35) want. There are no pseudo-sophisticated endeavours to sound "different". The young director has his head firmly on his shoulders while coming up with some extremely simple but memorable melodies.
Jayashree's husky voice is a great choice for the slow romantic number Zara Zara, but one is not too sure whether it will suit the personality of the fragile Diya Mirza. But, the good thing: the song's original version with Madhavan and Raima has been all over the regional channels for quite sometime. It has been picturised very intelligently, and even a ten per cent result in Hindi will be good enough to ensure a huge hit. Oh Mama Mama by Sonu Nigam has worked already, and it is not difficult to see why. Aimed at the dance floor, the melody is chilled out and so is Sonu's execution.
Dilko sung by Roop Kumar Rathod is another neat composition; Shaan's voice is tailor-made for "Bolo Bolo"; while Kay Kay's Such Keh Raha Hai is marked by some distinctively unusual twists in the tune. The only average number is the title song. It begins with the right attitude but slips midway, and the execution by both Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishnamurthy is unremarkable.
Jayaraj has just one shortcoming. Much like the early Rehman, he has a tendency for incorporating alaap and Indian percussion rhythms in numbers with a quintessentially Western feel. He needs to be little circumspect about this, and mainly since there are times when the flow of a fine melody can get hampered. While that one weakness has really affected the title track, the guy has done a superb job otherwise to give a young album with a difference that is at par with Dil Chahta Hai.

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein
By Joginder Tuteja
Let us begin with the title RHTDM first. Well there have been HAHK, KKHH, DDLJ, HSSH, KNPH amongst zillions of others!!! So what's original about RHTDM? It is the way it is being publicised to garner interest from DAY 1 when the promos started bombarding the channels. All the above mentioned movies got their short names from media and public once the movies were hot in the trade circuit. Whereas it has been the other way round with RHTDM. 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' is known more as RHTDM than the full form. Now this shows the innovative skills of Vashu Bhagnani - the producer...Oops!!! In fact Vashu Bhagnani - THE BUSINESSMAN. They do not call him ' Man with the midas touch' for nothing!!! Anything he has touched from his number one series Coolie No.1, Hero No.1 , Biwi No.1 to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and his latest venture 'Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai' have all been superhits at the Box office (with the exception of Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya). In fact 'Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai' was the first Super Hit of this year that provided some relief to the sagging fortunes of Bollywood. And needless to say music has played a major role in all his movies.
Remake of Tamil movie 'Minnale' starring Madhavan and Raima -'Hum Ho Gaye Aapke' - Sen, RHTDM stars the same hero but a new heroine Diya Mirza (now who hasn't heard of her). RHTDM has its share of chartbusters - rather a huge share. Thats because the buyers of album will be in surprise as you get to hear not one , not two but BELIEVE IT OR NOT six different versions of the title song. And for this, HMV gives you an extra cassette that dedicatedly contains 4 out of the 6 versions. Talk of being innovative and Vashu Bhagnani will ceratinly stand tall. Now this is even a tougher task than KBC to answer the question that "Which of the 6 versions is BEST?" because there you have four options but here you have six!!!!! You may be able to say which is the BEST but certainly can't pinpoint a flaw in any one of them.
The first version is 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' by Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishnamoorthy which has a hit written all over it. Then there is just a two liner 'Kaise Main Kahoon Tumse' by Kay Kay. But the real fun starts with version three i.e. 'Na Sone Ke Bangle Mein' which has chorus by the same girls who crooned in the background of utterly butterly delicious 'Rabba Rabba' in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. Well, when you may be thinking that life couldn't have been more fun, there comes the combo of Pinky and Preeti to tease you with their innocent yet sensual vocals in 'Aaya Re Aaya'. This is the version that kickstarted RHTDM compaign. You were missing Sunidhi Chauhan till now...isn't it ?? Do not get disaapointed. She is heard in a romantic version of the same in 'Tujhe Dekha Jab Se Jaana'. Enjoyable-to say the least. And then when it is a Hindi movie soundtrack, then can a bhangra be far behind? So version number 6 is presented as Soni Soni (Sukhwinder Singh) in a bhangra mix. Six versions for one title song - now has anyone even thought of it before; let alone trying for it?
So what happens next ? When you hear 6 chatbusters in a row, a comparison factor is bound to come up with the remaining 5 numbers in the album. The music by Hindi movie debutant Harris Jayaraj is NOT BAD by any standards, but somehow gets subdued by the euphoria generated by the various versions of the title track. Although 'Zara Zara' and 'Dil Ko' do deserve special mention. The former by 'Bombay Jayashree' (and we thought that only producers were innovative!!! ) is a seductive number and does gets one interested in the proceedings. Roop Kumar Rathod gets emotionally charged in 'Dil Ko' ably helped by Sameer's sentimental lyrics.
'Bolo Bolo' by Shaan smells of A R Rehman's hit 'Columbus Columbus' (Jeans) and is just an okey dokey affair. But 'Such Keh Raha Hai' by Kay Kay is a weak song that may find a few takers. 'Oh Mama Mama' is (again !!!) about appreciation of Mumbai's janta and so can be considered a safe bet in Mumbai city at least. But will it be popular in the remaining parts of the world as well ? Well, that depends to a large extent on the way the song has been picturised!!! On the plus is the energy and enthusiasm shown by Madhavan (a la Shahrukh Khan) in the song. On the negative is 'occasionaly sounding irritating' interruptions of 'Ku Ku Ku Ku ' in the number.
To sum it up, the title song (in all its versions) is enough reason for the album to disappear from the music racks as quickly as they arrive. Never mind the remaining songs being just about average. Start enjoying the versions and decide upon yourself that which one is the BEST. Waiting for your Final Jawaab!!! Confident!! To Phir Lock Kar Diya Jaaye ???

Rehna hai Tamil Nadu mein
Our Rating

Uh oh, wrong number! The otherwise-astute producer Vashu Bhagnani has made a big, big mistake this time. Like Shankar's Hindi debut Nayak, this one contains tunes that are straightaway lifted from the Tamil original Minnale. That is like courting disaster in capitals. The seven tracks are derailed without a second's pause.
I don't doubt for a moment that Harris Jeyaraj is a very gifted composer. His track record in the South is proof enough of his pudding. But the recipe for sambar and soup are different. Jeyaraj lands himself in soup for a no fault of his.
The title song, with its zig-zaggy motions of love devotions, is hardly going to make young hearts waltz in delight. The ecstacy whipped up by the profusion of orchestral embellishments adds nothing to our knowledge of puppy love as propagated in today's teen flicks.
But don't be hasty in dismissing the album. Worse disappointments await us, as Shaan goes Bolo bolo in the wonky lovespeak of that title. Sonu Nigam does a street smart Mumbaiya track Oh mama mama, where Sameer gets to talk about the Tehelka scandal and match fixing.
What about song-fixing? Isn't that what arbitrary linguistic transpositions of soundtracks amount to? Listen to someone called Bombay Jayshree (was she called Chennai Jayshree in the original track?) doing Zara zara. The seduction in the song is so scattered, it puts us to sleep. As for Roop Kumar Rathod in Dil ko, it must be the worst instance of aural miscasting since Hema Malini huffing through Peene waalon ko with Kishore Kumar in Haath Ki Safai.
There is something patently strange and strained in the music score of Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, as though the music strayed from the North pole to the South. Adding to the weirdness is the presence of an extra cassette with the album, which gives us a tape full of rejected songs from the film by KK, Sunidhi Chauhan and the like.
First, Bhagnani gives us rejected footage at the end of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, now rejected songs. Rejection is becoming an epidemic and contagious now. Perhaps it is our turn to do so.
