Sirpi: A Unique Achievement Indeed

WOW!!!!
Does any other composer have this unique achievement of having ALL the songs from his debut album copied from various sources, like Hindi Films, Arabic, Punjabi folk and even Hindi POP, other than our man Sirpi (Film: Ullathai Alli Tha).
Its amazing how he was lauded by the press for his "foot-tapping numbers" from this album.
I strongly feel that most Tamil magazine critics are not qualified to write reviews.

  For the nth time: without inspiration and translation, most art will not progress. Without translations of Russian and Spanish literature, most English readers would never have known Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, or the Columbian Nobel prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If you thought that was a tangent, let me draw the parallels in music.
  
  Would any true TFM fan not like "Megame Megame" by Vani Jayaram? As long as the source is acknowledged, I have no qualms about adaptations, translations, or in an accusatory tone, copying. Every new artist in a field starts out imitating the Masters in the field before growing into his or her own. Neels, from the sources you have given, we could call Sirpi a "Reader's Digest" of TFM because he derives from such varied traditions. I love the song "Chittu chittu kuruvikku". I doubt it if I would like the source song in Hindi as much. I welcome Sirpi to TFM and wish him all the success and look forward to him evolving into his own.

  U.A.Thaa was not his first film. He scored for Gokulam, Captain and a few more movies before finding the rhythm.. ;-)

  Gokulam was excellent - I loved most of the songs in it. UUA was OK and I must say, it was good to hear copied songs with Tamil words and all that....Also, it's the listenability of this stuff which makes it popular. The more catchy it is, the more popular it gets.

  though the songs might have been catchy in ullathai alli thaa the melody was zilch,totally missing. azhagiya laila seems to have been inspired by mukkaala with mano once again singing in false voice.he has made it a trend now ,spoiling good numbers.i love u had a good start
  but the in between stanzas were not all that
  appealing.'seivana thirundach chei' is a popular saying in tamil.even if u flick songs,do a good job and do not goof up like sirpi.

  I like all ths songs from Gokulam. Whenever I feel depressed, I hear the songs from Gokulam which makes me fresh.Earlier, I thought that MD of Gokulam is SAR.
  Just a year back I came to know that MD is Sirpi.
  Therkka adikuthu kaattu, Antha vaanam enthan kaiyil vanthu serum,
  Naan medai meedu paadum thendral kaatru,sevvanthi poovu eduthu, Pudhu rosa poothirukku etc , I like very much.
  
  I think he did a good job in Nattamai also, Kotta pakkum kozhunthu vethalai, Meena ponnu meena ponnu were good.
  Even though UaT is a big hit, I did n't like it much.

  He has scored music for "Poo maname vaa" by Ramarajan, sangeetha.
  The song "Thottu thottu selluthadi" was good from the above movie.
  He is one of the MDs in the film "Suyamvaram" ( 24 hours record film)

  gokulam songs were really good, maybe the film didn't do really good, the songs were not well recognised.Esp songslike, andha vaanam endhan....,therkae adikudhu kaathu.I also love his song
