I have heard from many different sources about the enormous talents and composing skills of this new Music Director. While his area of work may not be completely within TFM alone, I request informed participants of the DF to contribute any info. on him - notably movies, songs, bio, resume, origin, etc.
Advance Thanks!

I heard a super fantastic song by Chitra -pallavi starts 'madHuram gaayathi mama hrudhayam' - and a few other incredible melodies from the same album. Unfortunately it was a non-titled cassette and I don't have any other info except, that Chitra and Srinivas have rendered all the songs (in Malayalam). In terms of the melody, I have never heard anything as imaginative and as challenging as this album. Informed friends of mine, could only guess that this could be Sharath's work.
Whoever the composer is, avar disaiya paaththu saashtaanga namaskaaram. While it is difficult to identify any one song as 'life-time best', madhuram gaayathi madhuram has valid claims for such a title for KSC. aruvi-are you listening.
This album has epoch making capabilities in terms of SI film music.

I found in only one place that Sharath as MD for a malayalam movie. I may be wrong. Anyway, here is the title: TRACHOLI VARGHESE CHEKAVAR (MUSIC: SHARATH)

rajaG: He is an MD in malayalam films. Did music for 'Kshanakkathu','Pavithram','Tacholi Varghese Chekavar'.
There is a very good song of KJY in 'Pavithram' which got some state award.
He did music for one hindi film also.

rajaG,
Check out the link given below. He is a shishya of Dr.BMK and accompanied him on stage a few times. He had to be a good singer to compose something like that.

Excellent interviews sans the follwoing:
". But 'lifting' is unavoidable nowadays; it is the present trend. Even I will have to do it sometime, because the public likes it. Serving them is our first priority "
A director who has given tunes like the ones in sindhoora rekha should not be saying this :-(

MS: I think what you have quoted are his obsarvation regarding the present (sorry) state of affairs. In the concluding remarks, he has said what he really wants-
"Be individualistic in music. Do not try to imitate others and others' style of singing, composing, etc. Be yourself. It is not a healthy sign. It is a danger! We may not realize it now but later it may spoil the whole system of music. If you copy somebody's music, you will lose your identity."

rajaG and MS, try listening to the real audio version of the interview. Generally, musiccurry people make a horrible mess of creating interview transcripts.

Sasi: Who is the present day favorite music director of yours?
Sharath: It is Illayaraja forever. He is now, then and forever a great music director. Even now I go home and listen to his old songs, not the present ones. I happily fall asleep even amidst enormous tensions. He has a genuineness in his compositions, unlike the present composers. But 'lifting' is unavoidable nowadays; it is the present trend. Even I will have to do it sometime, because the public likes it. Serving them is our first priority.

Guys! I talked to Roni (Verghese Kurien) who is a fantastic percussion player (accompaniies KJY regularly) and resident of Queens, NY. He had this to share.
Roni's neighbors (in Kerala) are Sujith and Ajith. Sujith is a fantastic singer+Keyboard player, and Ajith is a superb Tabla player. Sujith has sung many songs in MFM (notable being duet with KJY for 'Deva Sabaathalaam....' in His Highness Abdullah). In fact, in the Deva Sabaathalam...you would notice that the second singer's voice and style reminds one of Dr. BMK a lot.
Sujith, due to his keyboarding skills, started working as an assistant to Raveendran and other MFM directors before moving to Chennai to seek the "big bucks". He also changed his Music Direction name to Sharath (a la Keeravaani?)A few things happened to him in Chennai.
1. Dr. BMK asked him to accompany in the Classical circuits.
2. MSV recommended him to Producers, Directors, and other MDs.
However, he has still NOT got the 'big opportunity' but I am sure, and deservingly, it is just around the corner.
BTW, Roni mentioned about this incredible Unnikrishnan number composed by Sharath which is Complicated^(n). Would surely appreciate any links/info. on that.
The reffered song in my earlier post (KSC) is a private album produced by Chitra, set to Music by Sharath/Sujith.
Eden: Could you please add other details if any?

Singer Srinivas on sharath:
http://www.indolink.com/tamil/cinema/People/2000/June/srinivas.html
"some songs I have sung for Vidyasagar in Malayalam; some for the wonderful music director Sharath (who did the album, Chaitra Geethangal with Chitra)"
http://www.themusicmagazine.com/shreeni.html
Which composers do you vibe with best?
Rahman, Vidyasagar and Bharadwaj. I enjoyed singing Aao sune for Jatin-Lalit in Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya. I don’t know if you have heard of Sharath, an absolutely brilliant music director. He understands my voice and style best.

There was another place where he says he should make his songs simpler...
I don't see why he needs to do that... Isn't that one of the reasons we like maestro's songs...

Deepak:-
If you see maestro's songs are complicated (to play) but sound simple to the comman man - Like what they have discussed in the interview.

I'm sorry rajaG, not much details with me...Sharath, apparently very talented, is not very popular or a big hit yet (my exposure to day-to-day MY music is not 100%, you see). Let me get more details on his albums and post in a day or two.

In devasabAthalam, sujith sings a very small part
(the one describing "dha (ivadham)"). The second
singer is raveendran himself.

S: Interesting! I actually have 2 versions of DevasabHaathalam. I was given to understand that one version had Sujith and the other one had Ravindran (with KJY in both, of course). In one of the versions the male singer's (other than KJY) voice sounds a lot (in quality and style) like Dr. BMK's, so with this new information that Sujith is a disciple of BMK, I guessed that it was Sujith who sang that version for the most part, starting with thOdi (after KJY sings HindOLam)
