Prashanth teams up with Laila in Shock


After Jai, Thiagarajan’s Lakshmi Shanthi Movies is all set to produce a thriller film Shock which is the remake of the silver jubilee Hindi movie Bhoot. Shock is not a horror movie but a sad story of incidents that take place in a middle class girl’s life. Prashanth is playing the lead along with Laila and Asin. After Aanazhagan, Thiagarajan is directing Prashanth in this movie. Apart from taking care of the direction, screen play and dialogues, Thiagarajan also acts as a strict police officer. Sarita comes in an important role. Kushboo, Ramya Krishna Vamsi, Sarath Babu, Raghuvaran, Sarada M.P., Virumaandi fame Pasupathy are among others cast in the movie. The story is jointly written by Shamir Sharma and Lalit Marthe. The music is scored by Saleem Sulaiman and lyrics are by Pa. Vijay. The background music which will send a chill down the spine of the viewer is being recorded in London. Cinematography is by M.V. Paneerselvam and the choreography is taken care of by Remo, Brinda and Rajasekhar. The art director is Yogamagi and editing is done by Sai Suresh. Stunt director Thalapathi Dinesh has given a new aspect to the stunt sequences.
Shock is being shot with a new technology such that it cannot be reproduced on pirated VCD and if attempted only portions of the movie would be recorded.

  It is very dark. Birds chirping at the background. Camera zooms in. There is a person in black overalls.
  He is entering a room. trrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeek ( Door opening noise). Some bats are there in the room.
  They fly out. Dolby effect. All people sitting in the movie hall feel as if the bats are circling
  over their heads in the movie hall.
  Camera follows the person. He reaches a table in the midst of the room. Opens a notebook.
  Everything is dark. Sound a bottle dropping. sileeeeeeernu saththam
  
  The figure bends down. Picks a paper. Lights a match stick and sees whats there on the paper. Red ink bottle had broken and
  some ink had spilled on the paper. It had formed something.
  The red ink had spilled in a way that the white paper has ANNIYAN written in Tamil.

  Last year, quite a few Tamil hits were remade in Hindi, though none had the desirable effect at the box office.
  
  Now, the trend seems to have reversed. Successful Hindi films are being remade into Tamil. After Munnabhai MBBS, it is Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot that is being remade in Tamil.
  
  Bhoot becomes Shock in Tamil.
  
  In Shock, Prasanth acts as a married man for the first time in his career. Like in the original, Vasanth [Prasanth] and wife Malini [Meena] shift to a new apartment on the 12th floor and Malini starts seeing a ghost in the house.
  
  Prasanth's father Thyagarajan bought the rights for Bhoot from RGV. Thyagarajan will not only produce and direct the film, but also pen the dialogues and screenplay. He also acts as a policeman in the film. The role was enacted by Nana Patekar in Bhoot.
  
  Suhasini plays a medium, the role essayed by Rekha in the original. And K R Vijaya plays Malini's mother. The role was played by Tanuja in Bhoot.
  
  There will be no songs or fight sequences in the film.
  
  Shock will be an important film in Prasanth's career as he has not had a big hit for a long time. But Meena, who has been in the industry for more than 20 years, has had author backed roles like Rhythm and big commercial hits like Muthu.
