Melody Queen of South Indian Film MUsic - Is it Janaki or Susheela or Vani or Chitra?

Who can be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian FIlm Music .
Is it S.Janaki or P.Susheela or Chitra or Vani Jayram..?
I think Janaki is the best of all and she should be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian Music

  very good posting. u must save ur postings and publish as an article in some magazine. Just like mr Ali knows a lot about hfm you know a lot about sifm. I agree PS is da melody queen of sifm. PS has the sweetest voice and expressive singing. janaki and vani are miles behind. zombie chitra is light years behind. LM and PS rule.

  The below posting is only for them who really are intersted in South Indian Film Music, but not to the persons who don't know anything about Music, but simply write rubbish things about the Legends of Indian Film Music. (I think everyone will understand). I don't like quarelling on behalf of some North Indian Singers who are dedicated to Kill the language with their smooth silky voices.

  I read your postings. I don't know anything about TEFm, so I don't talk anything about that. But what you said about SJ's contribution to Kannada Film Industry is far behind the truth. You are always glorifying PS and degrading SJ. SIr, May I ask you one thing How many Kannada films have you seen? Always they used PS name next to SJ's Name. This shows her popularity in KFM. She was the No.1 singer in KFM till 1990. NO doubt in that.You and that SAm wil be always degrading SJ and her talent. THis is not fare on your part. THe ppl who don't know about KFM, pls don't talk about that.
  Getting award is not a big thing, the singer should be known to ppl, theyu should remember songs of the singer. People remember Sj's songs more than Ps's songs. Mr. , if you say awards are a MUST, then what do you say about both the singers for not getting "PadmaShree" award?
  
  She is the Melody Queen of South Indian Music. You are talking about salary? As janaki was on top in Kannada Film Music, she was also one among the highest paid singers like PBS.
  Sir, it is a common knowledge that the great V - R supresses Sj and PBS in their fromative years . KFm welcomed both of them in open hands. So they ruled KFm not PS. PS may have sung more songs in TFm/Tefm, but her voice is not melodious, her voice is very matured. If you can't appreciate one's talent I request you to pls don't degrade anyone.
  She was not waiting for IR to come and give chance to her. Even SJ has sung many melodious songs in HFM.
  People still remember her songs like - "Gaganavo Ello", "Kaddhu Noduve YEke", "Indhu Enage", "Swathi Muthina", "Tam Nam", "Bharatha Bhooshira", "SAnyasi Sanyasi", "Nille Patanga", "Nee Meetida ", "Barede Naanu Ninna", "Tanu Ninnadu", "Kangalu Tumbiralu", "Poojisalendhe", "Omme Ninnanu", All her hits with Dr.Raj, PBS, "Hey Nannaede Kogileya", All her duets, pathos with SPB and to MDS like Upendra Kumar, Lingappa, Vijaya Bhaskar, IR(kannada songs), Hamsalekha, and many more.
  Before telling points like Budget, Reach or some useless points pls think twice. How can yu say that , there are no Kannada ppl outside Karnataka? You ppl are all of same kind. Don't have broad mind to praise other states talents or greatness. It is our luck that we got such a veteran singer for our KFM. You can say PS songs like" Viraha Viraha" are famous but her songs are not that much famous in Karnataka.
  PLs think twice before posting anything. Without knowing properly , how can you tell that, she has sung only 500 songs in KFM? ASre you the chairman of Karnatak Film Board? WIthout any proofs pls don't give such lunatic statements. BTW How many Kannada songs have you heard?
  Not only in KFM and MFM, she was also a singer in Oriya movies, she was hit in Oriya Film Music also. She was a popular singer in OFM also.
  And MFM, you are coming to say that.. even duets were also sung by KJY alone for both hero and heroine? Madhuri was also fetting chances, but it was SJ who got more chances. P.Leela was a classical singer she was not that much in Film Singing. Don't let your imaginations going in all directions. Konju Kanna Thorandhu Paarunga kalai. Ungallaku SJ pudikayalle anna paravaillai, aanaa Aavala Pathi Illadhadhaium Polladhadhaium Solladhel.
  For your kind information KJY came into films for singing in mid 60s. But Sj was singing prior to him. Note this. She was the lead singer in MFM and KFM till 1990. THen it was Chitra who took her place. IN TFM she was no.1 from 1977 till 1987. In TeFM, she was top from 1979 to 1990. PS was also gtg chances, but she was not on the top charts.
  
  You can say , PS has sung more songs than SJ. BUt there is no relation to Number of SOngs and MElody. S.Janaki is the MELDOY QUEEN Of SOUTH INDIAN FILM MUSIC. Her voice is full of melody , stil now(Jodi - kaadhal Kadidham ), PS voice may sound sweet but not melodious. It may be bitter for you Kaalai and SAm, but it is the TRUTH.

  Singer S Janaki Felicitated
  On the occasion of the Tenth Anniversary of Sadhana School of Music, the founder Smt.Manjula Gururaj, noted playback singer of Kannada cinema honoured top playback singer of South India S.Janaki with the title 'Swara Sadhaki'. Producer Rockline Venkatesh honoured the singer with a silver veena and Smt.Parvathamma Rajkumar also felicitated the singer for her contribution to film music so far.
  
  It was a trip down memory lane for the music directors who had come there and also for singer S.Janaki. The versatile singer expressed her ire at not receiving even one Karnataka State Award so far in her career. "I will not get the Karnataka State Award and I won't ask for it too. In fact I had sung some of my best songs only in Kannada," she said. "I sang for an Oriya film under great music director Upendrakumar and won an award. I miss Upendrakumarji and Nagendraji who are no longer with us. After that Award, I have won other state awards 20 times and 4 national awards. I have sung more than 15,000 songs in films but to this day I have not got a Karnataka State Award," she added.
  
  Even after years, the time-sense and rendering of songs by S.Janaki such as "Poojisalendhe Hoogala Thande", "Gaganavu Ello Bhoomiyu Ello", "Bharatha Bushira", "Kande Naa Yee Dhina" and a ghazal-cum-bhajan "Sab Kushu Koya" (P.B.Srinivas's lyrics) were perfect. At the Kohinoor Stadium in Hanumanthnagar, Bangalore, it was a feast of music for music lovers. S.Janaki sang bits from songs she had sung in a child's voice and even a male voice for 'Nanjathai Kiladhi'. She said that she had been surprised when music maestro Ilayaraja had told her to sing in a male voice in the recording room! Actor Ramesh Aravind who was present on the occasion called the genius singer and the music directors present on the dais "the 'roots' responsible for tuning wonderful music." Noted playback singer P.B.Srinivas compared the voice of S.Janaki to the 'flute of Lord Krishna'.
  
  Bangalore City Mayor Chandrasekhar made a timely speech and praised S.Janaki as the 'Bharathamatha Kala Saraswathi'. Also gracing the occasion were the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President Tallam N.Nanjunda Shetty, actress Jayamala, S.A.Chinne Gowda, noted music directors Vijayabhasker, Rajan, Manohar, K.Kalyan and innumerable music lovers from Basavanagudi, Hanumanthnagar and adjacent areas. The police had a tough time controlling the crowd and the traffic. Actress Vinayaprasad had prepared well to conduct the function.   I don't know where you got the "Highest Paid singers" details!! In fact PBS sang a great and max# songs under one and only V-R in TFM. As all of us know, in Kannada, PBS sang hundreds of memorable melodies for Rajkumar and his duets with SJ & PS are unforgettable. I believe PBS was the first male singer genuinely popular in all 4 south indian languages at that time. Please share your views.

  I am staying at Bangalore and I frequently watches kannada movies, mostly in TV. I was taking about pre’75 movies. Most of the old movies I have notice PS name first.

  When U compare, we talk about negative points also. Didn’t U do that? All these started after seeing your word “PS is monotonous”. From Ur postings I could make out How much exposure U have on PS songs. I am familier with the songs which U have mentioned. I like “Yaava janmatha mythreyi” of SJ very much. The songs U have mentioned are good ones including "Poojisalendhe".

  “ Getting award is definitely a recognition. PadmaShree may come on anytime. But, they both got national awards. Like national awards, Karnataka also giving awards.   Yes, Salary matters. No one is doing service. Your Highest pay is not even one fifth of the pay of TFM and TeFM. I am talking about pre’80. Now things are changing.

  I agree that her voice is matured. I believe in matured voice, which can sing any type of songs with perfection. Did U hear “vennira aadai” or “kaadhalikka neramillai” songs. You can find her voice with so young . atleast listen the song “nenjathai alli konjam thaa thaa”. When it comes to a mother we can feel the thickness in her voice. When for young girl, it used to thin and for children it will become more thin. It is easy to mould her voice for any type of songs and U can feel it. That’s why she was a success if SFM for long time.

  Ya, The state awards U are giving to others , shows ur broadness. Can U please tell , How many awards U given to SJ with broadminded? How many kannada movies are running outside Karnataka state? I never told that, there is no kannadiga’s outside the state. I was talking about Kannada films reach. Atleast Can U tell a major city, where they regularly screening kannada movies?
  Speaking about broadmind, all the language singers singing in all the languages. Not only in Karnataka, all the four southern states, they are accepting people with broadminded. And we give proper respect by giving them our awards. SJ was falicitated in a bigger wayby Tamil filmdom, and SUN TV telecasted it. o

  My question in my posting was “But, till 1970, her songs count is very less. Can U say 500 songs of SJ before 1970 in KFM?”. What is wrong in that? I didn’t say that, she has sung only 500 songs in KFM. I am looking for a period of 12 years, from she was intoduced, if is more, as a fan U could have explained . I regularly listen kannada songs like other languages. Don’t justify others only with your standards.

  You are reading in between lines. The female songs in MFM are comparatively less. May be one or two in many movies. ( exceptions always there) This was the status before’85. Many singers also will share those songs. But, I feel I should not have written this.

  I have different openion. After Chitra’s arrival her chances in MFM is very narrow. I thing Chitra is getting state awards from 1984.After’86 SJ’s chances are very less in MFM. (I have more info about MFM like TFM, and I can speak, read and write the language. I love Malayalam movies.) In Tamil, it is not from ’77. It is after 1981. I can give with Proof. You can see Mr.Saravanan’s postings in TFM page( may be Vanijayram solos) , he explained with lots of proofs. If U want more proof , I can also give, but it requires time. In TeFM, SJ has done number of songs and she never became no:1.

  PS has both and she is ultimate . When U speak about melodies, PS will be for beyond anyone. In mid’80 “screen magazene” came with few pages of article about PS and the title was “ QUEEN OF MELODY”. Just by making sound or repeating it for many times, U can’t hide the truth. With your statements, I can understand, How much of exposure U have on SFM. Pl. listen all the songs before commenting.
  Few Words You have used in this and previous postings (rubbish, foolish, lunatic, Stupid remark, Do you have brain? Absolute Nonsense, big fool like many). I think, U are educated enough. When U start comparing two, definitely both the aspects should be analyzed. That happened. No one can forget what kind of songs SJ was singing . I highlighted it with Proof.
