Hi friends, (sorry about the above posting) I have been out of town for the last couple of days. And it looks like i didn't miss out much.except for MS andShibu's new uploads.
After my short break i was shocked to see my HD in bits.My systems adminsitrator told me that my system crashed.I lost all my audio files.Hope my server does not put me out.I will be done forever. Still wondering what to do next.I don't have any backup files for my songs.too bad.
Shibu,
I had all your songs encoded but as i was out of town, couldn't upload them. And on top of it, i lost all those files too in this CRASH! No probs.I will try to get those songs online ASAP. Check your email.
MS, Yet to visit your page.
Kamesh,
This problem has been seen with higher versions of Netscape 4.6.I don't knwo the reason.I
can find out about it soon and fix.Meanwhile I would rather suggest you to use netscape communicator 4.05 or IE5.

Hai,
One request.... iam not sure if this has already been discussed.... why u guys are not allowing us to download thr RM or RAM files... if u allow us, may be we can hear us without connecting to the internet.... is there any problem in allowing us to download the songs????

Hey can I ask you guys something? Just curious...
You know how all these songs are put up on the net. Well, wouldn't this decrease the number of sales of cassettes and stuff because people just come on the net to get the songs. Even the new ones? How do you guys feel about this?
(Just read an article on sales decreasing because of MP3, so that aroused my curiosity...)

Sabesan,
The point of putting .ram files instead of .rm or .ra files is to avoid any downloading of songs into your HD.y this it doens' look like we are giving away the copies of cassettes. This is my opinion.
And I also assume that the other webmasters would people to surf their sites and enjoy their work and kepp coming often.(traffic)If it is one time deal then people go to their website and download all the songs and forget it.
Aruvi,
You maybe right. But genuinely interested music lovers will still prefer to buy cassettes and keep in their collection rather than listen to all these bit inferiorily recorded .rm or .ra files.
At this point i would like to bring it out that these songs in my page and in others is for the purpose of bringing out great MD's works and propaganda their great work.
And moreover I would also say that if we have internet access in India(like in USA-so easy, fast, cheap) then i am sure the audio companies and the MD's will take action. As it will definetly hurt the sales which is more important over there.
But they can forgive us cos we are not making any money out of it. ;-)))

Balaji.... but then imagine i just can't download all the songs in any of the sites thats mentioned.... i do agree if in case u allow download then the persons visiting ur site will be reduced.... but then this again is the problem that i face very frequently.... i will be enjoying the song/BGM when suddenly "Net congestion" occurs and irritate u a lot... given a chance iam sure i will not download all the songs but a selected few.... (i assume each song to be a minimum of 1MB!!!!! ami correct or wrong???).... well all IMO....

Thx for all those KJY rasikas.
Aruvi:
The reverse order will be rectified soon.
Shibu:
Out of your collection I know only "annan enna thambi enna" and "kasthoori maaney". Among the two I have the latter only :-(. I shall try uploading it soon.
RB:
Porumaiyaai vaanga siteikku. What you must preferably do is to make a copy of all the ra/rm files on a CD. This would ensure that inspite of your system's crashing, you have your files safe.

Download is possible always.
I have written this before here. In IE:
1. When you click on the ram link, it gets downloaded to C:/WINNT/Temporary Internet Files.
Now, open this file with some editor . It will have a, probably, single line containing the rm or ra link of the file, say http://wwww.XXX.com/yy.ra .
Now, copy and paste this into your browser. This causesz the whole ra file to be downloaded to the same folder..temporary internet files. And you have it.
2. In Netscape. Everthings same exceptt hat you work with C:/TEMP folder.

Shibu,
I will upload that "ann enna song for you.
MS,
You are right I was planning to do that. Before i could get my hands on it.everything got over.
Raj,
That seems to be a nice idea.I can get my copies of songs back i guess.
Sabesan,
Some of the songs maybe more than 1 MB.Follow Raj's advice and see.Good luck.

Balaji,
It is really unfortunate to have happened that way. I am also in a constant fear of a disk crash. If it crashes, then my 450 songs will go. After reading your post First thing I did was to have taken backup of the username/password file(where I maintain all my geocities, etc.. account details)
Anyway Balaji, in the worst case you could still download the songs from your site as any visitor would do and getback the sound files!
Writing to CD is a good idea, but it costs atleast 300$ and it will be used only a very few times!!
Rgds

Shibu,
I treid to Rja's method. My nescape opened the .rm file in a greek/latin junk charater format. But still i saved it as a .rm file in the directory.THen later i played that file in real player.I was able to see the details about author etc and REal player was playing it but i couldn't hear the music at all.I don't know why.
Hope Raj can clear this.
My experience would be a catuion to other webmasters.Hope you guys have a backup soon.Mine is a ppublic computer.so many others share it.IF someoneelse makes a mistake. You will get to pay for it.But this won't happen if you have computer of yours.

RB: That happens with Netscape sometimes. The only solution I know in that case is to use IE;-))).

This site seems to have a very vast collection of songs. It will be very helpful if the songs could be arranged chronologically or in alphebetical order of film names.
The sound quality seems very good.

Hi Padma,
I assume that you are referring to my site.I have already arranged them chronolgically(5 year slots). Its really hard to have such a classisfication as too many restraints are there
1. I should have enough songs in each year
2. Compiling them together is a big pain.
But I am working on it as soon as I reach a comfortable figure (songs count)
Thanks for the feedback.I appreciate it.
