MDs singing for themselves

  In the IR as a singer thread.. there have been comparisions bet. IR and other MDs like dEvA and MSV as singers. IMO this is not warranted as no other MD (with the possible exception of AMR & SPB) has used himself as a singer as much as IR has. This thread is to comment on MDs who use themselves occasionally... liek MSV, dEvA, Chandrabose, ARR, TR etc.. (Hey is this list going to include all MDs after the 60s.. I wonder..)
  What makes a MD decide to sing a song himself? Obviously none of these people have great voices.. (this includes IR too :) I felt while writing the IR as a singer writeup that IR prefers to sing some intricate tunes himself.. that is not true of other MDs. If anything they reserve the more complex tunes for the really accomplished singers. Is there some kind of yearning inside every MD to be the voice that renders their composition?

  AMR and TRajendar must be the only MDs who made use of themselves on a regular basis.

  I was thinking of MDs singing for themselves. so pookkaLai thaan parikkaatheenga and Endi muththama don't count.
  Arimugam: PoovilE mEdai is not by IR.. I think it is JC.
  Chandrabose has sung for himself.. in kaliyugam and in one Ramki movie (song: poonchittu kurruvigaLA).. both the songs were for Janakaraaj..
  TR would count... but KB? Does he score music any more? Has he sung anything other than that one song in ithu namma aaLu?

  but i know for sure that he has done many telugu films.
  g.ramanathan has sung a song "ejemaan petta selvame en chinna ejamaane" for a horse.i do not know the film.
