A little knowledgeable fan of music will easily identify the subsequent beats of any IR song after the first few words. His beats are the most boring and routine.
Frankly it is most amazing that his songs appeal to some people, given the monotony and non-imaginative nature of his songs.

It looks as if this thread is not going to get anywhere at all. IR fans are sure to come to the rescue and bash the IR haters.
Let me paint a picture here: we have speaker X and speaker Y. X is hates IR, and Y loves him. This is what you could expect to see:
From: X (@##.##.###.###)
________ deserves a 0/10 rating!!! Junk music from a jaded, out of the market, F*CKED up music director!!!
From: Y (@??.??.???.???)
X is nothing but a pig!
Sorry, couldn't resist the temptation! But you see, that's what happens, especially in threads like this one here. People throw dirt at one another to no end.

Purv, monotonous beats of IR's music is a FACT. Can facts be disputed?
Maybe IR couldn't care less for beats or he didn't know better?
That should be the question.

there is something called monotheism, then there is pantheism. it seems monotheistic people cannot understand diversity, while pantheistic people expand their horizons and think in all different colors, result is exciting creations like the nataraja, asoka chakra, various temples of gold, various dance forms, in the present day various musical ideas in films. so, since you anbe sivan (anachrostic name) may belong to some monotheistic group will not hear the pantheistic approach of IR, even if you are given a few hundred pairs of heads and ears

hmmm. interesting.
trouble is, IR is what monotheism is all about.
and therein lies the problem.

one question: are you talking about IR's new songs or all of his songs in general?
It is sheer impudence, abysmal lack of knowledge of IR's music, gross generalization or plain hate mongering if you make such an allegation on all his songs.
monotonous & boring are indeed subjective, unless you are refering to repeated use or lack of novelty in the beats that IR chooses. However, I do concur to such a subjective statement (definitely not a fact) if you are refering to his new songs. I do find his beats uninspiring.
as others in the IR's New Albums thread have pointed out, he should come out of the rut of using synth beats & try to use some live instruments. of course, there have been some glorious exceptions like Meettadha Oru Veenai from Poonthottam, Isaiyil Thodangudhamma etc..

If admin can instantly crack the whip on the backsides of those who start hate-breeding threads, there would be less mischiefmongers and time-passers on this DF.
And yes, this applies to threads started against any MD.

Why is there a need to surpress people who have differing opinion than what it is popular? I guess we are so used to censorship and governance that using of our own brains becomes secondary.
And what I can't stand most are the so-called neutralites, but whose bias is clearly seen. Yes Prabhu, I am talking about you! :)

ooooh, more indirect slurs and back-thumping exercises..
Guys, I suppose 90% of visitors here are from abroad and rarely step into TN. Quite obviously, you have absolutely no grasp on the pulse of the public in TN. All the skirmishes and microscopic analyses of IR/ARR songs/styles happen only in this forum whereas life goes on casually in TN. If you thought IR's name brings cheers in cinema halls, no way!(Majority of folks watch on thiruttu VCDs anyway!) The mere mention of ARR's name for a new album no longer makes cash registers ring in music shops(Outlook called Kadhal Virus a dud, mind you!). Mention IR/ARR's name there and the hushed silence wont be there anymore. There are a dozen albums coming in every month and the junta just pick up the catchy ones and get on with it. Visit public places/shops and mostly you'll find IR's 80s hits/ARR's early ones or today's peppy tunes being aired.
Of course, those holed up in their office cubicles for 10-14 hours a day in a far-off place have to get some 'kicks' by making asinine comparisons or enticing opposing DF-ers to a verbal war. Spearheading this brigade are the expats who are yet to set foot in India all their lives and yet have the gall making sweeping statements and fearless forecasts, bravo to you guys!
Lollu Party, I am not fazed by your veiled threats. I am proud to be the second recipient of your banalities on professionalism and objectivity. When you think you can hold a candle to Admin itself, whither shall I stand? Sympathies to you, your thread chastising admin was disdainfully dispatched to the trash bin within a matter of minutes, and till you find some cronies here, your muck-raking barbs will continue.

Anbe Savam,
If you think that LLD are trying to prove Christianity by showing Bible, then please enlighten all of us why do u consider IR's beats are so monotonous and boring with your vast musical knowledge..ready for the game? :-)
Tell me whether anyone can change the beats(thaalakattu, meter) of a song in the middle abruptly?Tell me few IR song's which had the same beat pattern throught out the song?:-)
Does your tiny brain know that chord based compositions cannot have unstructured beat patterns and it shud follow the grammar?:-)

If IR songs to quote a few
1. Aasai adigam vachu(Film Marupadiyum sung by SJ)
2. Aasaiya kaathula thoodu vittu(film Johny, tribal beats)
3. Thakitta thadumi(Film Salangai Oli- listen to the Mridangam)
4. Megam kottatum(jalangal of mridangam, drums and other thaala vadhyangal in the end).
5. Drum beats in PonMeni Urugude(film MoonramPirai)
6. Drums in Oru Raagadevathai kadaikann (film Innisai Mazhai)
7. Dappanguthu in songs like Annaathe aaaduraar(film Apoorva Sahodarargal), Thottam konda raasave(film Pagalil or iravu), Raman andalum ravanan andalum(Mullum malarum), Thanni karuthiruchu(Ilamai oonjalaadugiradu)
can be termed as boring rythms, then I fail to understand what interesting means???
That reminds me of the great Mridangam doyen Mr.Umayalpuram Shivaraman whose son(Swaminathan) was my batchmate in Engineering college , praising the Mridangam usage by IR in songs esp in rain sequences like AndiMazhai pozhigiradu(RaajaPaarvai),Megam Kottatum, PonVaanam Paneer thoovudu(my all time favourite. Don't miss the key performance Mridamgam plays thru out the song).
Looks like this topic is just raised for effect!!!

Stupid thread. This thread should have been nipped in the bud by the Admin. But nevertheless, when there is some wothwhile contributions, it makes it worth its existence. For example, Vardhini's and Sathish Kumar's postings give me cues to go back and listen to those songs and enjoy their richness. I wish there were more threads that would just remind us of the beauty of a certain song and educate us more or help us to find something that might have gone unnoticed. You see, for many, beauty is in the eye of the beholder or what the mind doesn't know the eyes won't see. I have liked many songs for many different reasons but there is always someoneelse who points out something that i had failed to notice. In this respect, Song of the Day is the only decent thread in this forum.
