Nattamai,
ARR music in songs are good. But we don't know whether it was suitable for the movie. May be the reviewer might have said it in respect to suitablitlity of the songs to movie and BGM. For thriller BGM is very important after all.

Kumudham's latest issue has started a new music review section in which the top 3 film albums is listed as 1. Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, 2. Virumandi and 3. Kovil. The review for KKS is well written quoting raga et all.

Here goes the clarification.
C~P came very close but guess he gave up.
thanthi kambam maelae - ka, kaa, ki
kothi dhaan paesum - ki, kee, ku
aalamaram uLLae - ku, koo, ke
aththai peN kaNavan - ma, maa, mi
pathi pettikuLLae - thi, thee, thu
saelai katti vandhaal - na, naa, ne
thanthi kambam maelae - ka, kaa, ki
(Thanthi kambam maelae kaaka(crow) is there. It says ka kaa and ki is added for the rhyme)
kothi dhaan paesum - ki, kee, ku
(kili(parrot) kothi dhaan paesum. kili says ki kee and ku is added for rhyme
aalamaram uLLae - ku, koo, ke
(Inside aalamaram kuyil is there. It says ku koo. ke is added for rhyme)
aththai peN kaNavan - ma, maa, mi
(for athai peN her kaNavan is mama right? You should not assume that about your athai peN's kaNavan. athai peN calls her kanavan ma,maa.
Again here mee is added for rhyme)
pathi pettikuLLae - thi, thee, thu
(Actually it is vathi pettikuLLae. That is inside a matchbox. thi thee is fire. And thu is added for rhyme)
Clear now?

Atthaiyin Kanavan can be Maamaa... but Atthai's pen's kanavan would be... ummm cousin-in-law...
Naan ennamo kaekka... C~P ennamo ulara... Neenga vanthu moolaiya kulappiteenga~ Thanks for trying though.
P.S- I know what crow is, and matchbox is and stuff... I knew the Ku,Thu, Ke was added for rhythmic purposes!

Man's World Feb 2004
Man of the Month: AR Rahman
How does he do it? How does he span all those great divides, between Carnatic and Hindustani, between Mumbai and Chennai, between the classical and the cutting edge, between the raw human voice and the tonal artifices of the studio? Of course, music has the ability to dissolve almost every cultural barrier, but Rahman seems to have done what only classical musicians seemed able to do. He can travel. Just when we had categorized him as the guy who could sum up our zietgiest at the end of the century, he turned out a convincing score for the period piece, Lagaan. Set him down in London and Bombay Dreams stains the brownstone with glossy, full-colour, hip-jerking, bosom-heaving passion (this is now on its way to Broadway). Give him a Chinese road film (Warriors of Heaven and Earth) by He Ping and you have a sublime score. Shortly, shortly we will hear his score for the Lord of the Rings musical. That's serious big time. How does he do it? Genius!

Rahman is back in form after a long time in KKS. 'En Uyir Thozhiye' is a treat to lovers of soft melody. Present day composers generally do not compose duets in 'Aarabi' (a carnatic raaga). Using the inherent beauty of Arabi, Rahman has craftily moulded a scintillating track, in his own unique style, without making it too classical (T M Soundararajan's yesteryear super hit 'Erikarayin mele' is based on pure Aarabi). Next on line is the mellow 'anarkali' that starts out with a Hindustani base. Just that the pallavi reminds one of the song from 'Vaazhve Maayam' - 'Neelavaana Odayil'!

Certainly this is not me. But I welcome my clone and I must say he is doing my duty very well.
Sometime back, when I quoted Kumudam's remarks about arr's songs, the arr camp came after me and ridiculed my taste. Now the same group quoting Kumudam's article and saying it is fantastic. They agree whatever it says. What the heck? This is called 'anther balti'.
The authenticity of the Kumudham article raises some serious questions. They are:
1. What is the procedure they are following for colleting their data?
2. How many stores in TN contacted and asked to submit their sales record?
3. How much are these data really authentic?
My guess is they will go to Music World / Landmark in Chennai every week and put down the list as it is. I am sure arr's albums will sell more in these shops. But if you consider the whole TN, I doubt these statistics will stand. FYI, KKS's sales is not that great, and I am sure arr is not back in form. And he is not going to be in future either, just watch!

here's another one... CAN You or I call the "athtai's pen kanavan" as mama? aththai endu sonnan, nammakku thaaney atthai? so atthai's pen is like our cousin, so what would her hubby be for us?
I tell you... there must be some consipiracy behind our university, its making people stupider :)

Whatever is it, curryleaf's is merely an allegation, based on somebody else's statement. It definitely DOES NOT mean that the song is copied. So lets not jump the gun and panic! Innocent until proven guilty.
