Never became popular,never received a national award , but was very well know for her different 'kreech'voice. Introduced by IR in 'ponnu oorukku pudhusu'-Her ganeer voice for 'solai kuyile'attracted attention of many. She became busy by singing atleast on song in every IR film until the introduction of Chitra,which was somewhere in 1986.She was then never used by IR or GA.Shankar Ganesh was the only who was still using her but then they themselves couldnt survive in the industry.
This thread is an attempt to list out the innumerable songs she has sung and also to analyse her downfall in TFM(she is still singing in Telugu
field)

  I will firmly say that IR was the creator and destroyer of her career in TFM. During her initial period she was given nice melodies and duets but later IR used mainly for dappankoothu songs.While janaki and Chitra were given to sing all the nice pieces,the thrashy songs were given to SPS.This could be one of the main downfall of her career.
  She absolutely had no songs in 90s but couple of years back Vidyasagar gave her a song in one of the Arjuns film(Arjun and roja-i forgot the name of the film).Devan and ARR never uses her and so is IR.

  SPS recently sang for IR in veera thAlAttu.
  
  One of my fav song of SPS is 'geedham sangeedham needhAnE en kAdhal vedham' - even though she sings only a small bit.

  She hasn't been singing much in Telugu too.
  May be a few songs in the 90s. That's it.
  She sang a few songs in K.Viswanath's "Subha Sankalpam" (*ing Kamal, Amani). Music was by Keeravani/Maragathamani. It was produced by S.P.B., that's probably the reason she sung those songs.. She also sang a Koti song (along with Sujatha and SPB), just out of the blue, a couple of years ago..
  
  Though she was never a major singer (in the P.S/S.J league), she was quite popular in the 80s. And I have always wondered why she just disappeared..
  
  She was in LA last year (as part of SPB's troupe).
  Her voice is still there, so that can't be the reason why she went down..

  There is a famous song in the 90's by Shailaja!
  
  Rabbabba...or pudhu mappilaiku in Apoorva Sagotharargal had Shailaja singing with SPB.
  
  She does a good job if she sings in the lower tones/swaras. I think she has done a good job in Rabbabba

  I think you are referring to:
  Putham Saranam Katchami... spb & SPS (no offence please)
  
  Even before chitra, SPS wasn't popular in TFM. She sang only a very few songs and most of them are not bad at all.

  Mano i was referring to the pathos version(the song is played in the background after Radhikas death)and it is by SPS.

  SPS has sung 3 songs in Veera thaalaattu, including the famous "vaadipatti maappillai enakku" with GA.
  
  IMO, she would not have been popular if not for being SPB's sister. She can bring out hardly any emotion or modulation (except rarely) in her voice. Listen to 'aetho ninaivugal' or 'malargalil aadum ilamai'. Her voice sounds just "flat" !
