Which Combi Is Better: SPB & IR or SPB & ARR

There have been many hits by both combinations.
In a way it is hard to compare bcos SPB sort of grew up wit IR and is more like maturing wit ARR.
But i'd like to hear some opinions and a list of personal favs from each combi.

  I am getting sick on reading a new thread on SPN everyday. Will the admin interfere and close nonsensical threads please. And most of those threads are very poor in terms of discussion quality and often contain sentences in which every rule of English grammar is PATHETICALLY flouted.

  stop it please and fellow sufferers, if u can't stand these threads why visit them? There are over dozens of other threads u can visit.
  And who do u think u are to judge others based on their poor grasp of english? This is not a literature forum. So take ur high-handed attitudes somewhere else.
  And what do u mean the discussion quality is low? There are lots of other threads where use of tamil obscenities, slanders, name-calling, etc proliferate. Maybe that may be a more satisfying discussion environment for u. If it isn't, ask admin to close down those threads too.

  well said, some idiots think that, it Raghu @212 the one that opens threads about the greatest SPB, but I have only seen 2-3 threads by him, any way.
  
  I think SPB+IR combination is far better than SPB +ARR, IR tunes are more melodius than ARR( Now do not start bashing IR & ARR), but SPB has sung under every single MD in India (except few Hindi MDs), it's just the way his voice blends with the songs, his voice, his expressions, his modulation, makes the songs hit.
  
  SPB won one National award for an IR song (Sagara sangamam), the telugu version of Salanghai Oli, SPB won one national award for an ARR song, which was "Thangha thamarai maghale", the rest of his 5 national awards have been won under several other MDs, like KVM for Shankaraparanam, Laxmikanth Pyeralal, ..etc, SPB has also sung lot of songs for MSV, in Tamil SPB+IR combination is enormous, but in Telugu SPB sung the most songs under different MD.

  By sheer number and quality the SPB IR combo wins. Again, there is a basic mistake in the comparison as there is between IR & ARR. One of the smallest, negative points these comparisons is Numbers. SPB IR has sung 100s or more that 1000 songs. Now SPB & ARR ....come on might not be even 50.
  
  But, you can say ARR has handled SPB very differently and sparingly. HE has given him the right songs to sing (in many cases) and SPB had been at his best with ARR (not that he was not with others....sandai poda themmbu illa).
  
  The only NA SPB got for tamil (in which he has sung the most) is from ARR. This is FYI.

  well said, but no body seems to me mention about other MDs for which this genius SPB has sung for, like KVM, Laxmikant, Ram Laxman, Bhapi Lahari, MSV,....etc, or by the way Deva's no good tunes were indeed made hit by SPB alone, it is fact.

  in Tamil SPB won his 1st national award for ARR song, he won his first national award for KVM's "shankaraparanam", in telugu, but till date SPB did not win any awards for excellents tunes from IR such as;
  
  1) "mannil indha kadhal indri - Keladi kanmani
  2) "Sangeetha jathi mulai" - Kadhal oviyam
  3) "Illaya nila"-payanaghal mudhivathilai
  4) "illaimeiyenum ponghatru" - paghalil iravu
  5) all salanghai oli songs
  6) Thalapathy songs
  
  ...etc, SPB won the national award for the telugu version of salanghai oli (sagara sangamam), but not in tamil, why???

  What do u mean by this???? SPB was so IMMATURE in his singing on all these years and ONLY after ARR he became MATURE, all of a sudden???!!!! Ur comments are hilarious. Please dont make a measure of SPB+IR combo, by the so called NATIONAL AWARDS. It does not mean that, IF and ONLY IF SPB got a national award for that minsara kanavu song, he turned to be mature. How many songs Bala sung for ARR, a few??!! How about the variations, quite a few again? IR didn't do anything on all these years???!!! SURPRISING!!!!!I am not against ARR but it really hurts, when u guys say that bala is so mature now, that too becos of ARR. Come on, guys, there's a limit for everything, including adding the so called credits to ARR.
  These are MHO and i dont mean to hurt ur feelings. Let urelf have ur own thoughts, nothing wrong. But please dont make it as a global feel kinda thing. Sorry once again, whynot!

  SPB sorta grew up with IR means, he spent most of his years with IR. Its like let's say a musician becomes famous and old, but still hangs on to his old fave tabla. When asked to buy a newer one, he says, sorry i grew up with this tabla. It doesn't mean he was immature when he used tat tabla. But it means he spent most of his most memorable days with tat tabla and he's comfortable with it. It's something POSITIVE!!!!!!! Another example is like saying i grew up with my fave tv show or i grew up with kelloggs cereals. It means u have been using/watching something for a very very long time and u feel at home with it!
  So it means SPB is actually more at home with IR and has spent longer days with IR! OK? Get it?

If u guys r hell-bent on picking on something, nothing much i say is going to help alright? fiend i dont understand anything ur saying. There's nothing vicious in this thread.   The problem is not that. It's with ur comments reg the so called "maturity". U already decided to give a name for ARR in SPB's already gained maturity. Ur statement gives that creditability to ARR. That's why i wrote like that. I am not denying that SPB grew up with IR. Becos, it's a fact and to a greater extent IR brought a kind of maturity and legendary performance out of SPB. But as u said, "he's getting matured with ARR" is... I dont feel that way and i dont know in what way u feel so???!!!! That was my argument:-)

  Your statement saying that "SPB - Matured with ARR", is Ridiculous, SPB started his career in 1966, there was no IR 0r ARR around at that time, he used to sing for KVM, MSV, Shanker Ganesh, Sangeetharajan,..etc, this was the period in which SPB was becoming well known, If I am right IR first debate was "annakizhi", around 1976/77, The was no SPB in IR's first film, SPB only sang for IR, in 1977 (It is duet by SPB+SJ, I can not remember the song name, because I was only two years old that time), then came Shankaraparanam in 1979, which gave SPB his first NATIONAL AWARD!!!
  
  atleast 65% of SPB's songs in Tamil are under IR, IR made use of SPB's talents very well, SPB has also used IR's talents very well,hence they bothe became good friends. But Majority of SPB's telugu songs were not Composed by IR, but KVM & other telugu MD's. out of 40,000 songs by SPB, I would say 20,000 songs are Tamil songs, out of that about 12,000 would have been under IR.
  
  It is a shame that SPB had never won any award under IR, SPB+IR combination were simply superb, I can list some songs, but I do not have the time to do so.
  
  ARR used SPB in his initial movies like, Roja, Gentlemen, Duet, Kadhalan,Ashokan,Super Police to gain fame, once he had achieved his fame, he bought in some street singers like Udit Naryan, Hariharan, Shanker, Harish, Srinivas,...etc,all MD's (including IR) thought that, ARR gained his popularity through these street singers,( but they were wrong, it is ARR's Technical PC based music that made him a popular MD),hence they started to introduce these street singers as a trend, which is at the moment is collapsing, these singers are going to go back to where they came from.
  
  TFM can not tolerate this any more.

  Why do you need to insult other singers to make SPB look superior? The reason for SPB's greatness is his talent, not other singers mediocreness.
  
  Coming to ARR, even during his earlier days, ARR did not use SPB for all his songs with the exception of DUET in which SPB sang the maximum. He just used him for selected songs. In an interview , ARR had mentioned that he approaches SPB only if there is something very special to be delivered. Isn't it rational? Also other singers do need a chance.
