  M.M. Keeravani is a very good music director, who has given a lot of Super-hits in Telugu music. His style comes closest to IR, but unlike his illustrious GURU, he has allowed a lot of POP/Rock influences to seep into his music. However, he borrows quite freely from old Telugu hits and admits it too. His back-ground scores are very remniscient of Maestro and he has made a very positive impact with his scores for the films "Sundaraakanda", "Kshana kshanam" and "Is raat ki Subah Nahin". He continues to experiment, with fusion music, his latest offering in this direction being "Paradesi", in which he has set a well known classical song "Chandana Charchita neela kalaivara" to excelllent jazz chords.

  MM is a very talented MD and probably the best potential melody maker amongst the currently active MDs. Probably his "Mazhayum Neeye" in Azhagan is a class melody , a meaty tune for SPB to feast on and he did just that. Unfortunately, the first stanza was deleted in the movie.
  
  His Hindi song "Thu mile dil khile" is a brilliant song sung by UGH!!!! Kumar Sanu in the movie criminal. Listen to the original Telugu version rendered by Balu ... beyond compare. I am sure this song was a source of inspiration for "Kannodu Kaanbathellam" in jeans.

  IRfan: No. kshana kshanam was dubbed as ennamO nadakkuthu in Tamil. The movie stars Sridevi and Venkatesh and is a really good comedy. Prob. based on some Hollywood movie though. :-). I liked 'thanimai raathiri' from this film. thee movie was directed by Ram Gopal Verma.

  MM has a lot of IR's influence and uses his
  male singers well(SPB and HH). his music for
  azhagan and nee paadhi naan paadhi was good.
  he had some misunderstanding with KB , otherwise
  he would have become a popular MD in TFM.
  i think he is one of the better composers
  after IR and ARR.
  i totally agree with sriram on kumar sanu and
  spb. if i am right, the telugu song is "telusaa
  manasaa". i think his best album is "azhagan".

  M M Krrem has also scored the music for 'Pehli Nazar Mein". Couple of songs are good. Extremely Rahmanesque.

  Keeravani ( I prefer to address him this way) has also given a song for "Meri jaan Hindustan" which also has songs by IR(sung by Kamal) and KR(sung by KR). The song is pretty good, should rank 2nd or 3rd best in the album - KR's was undoubtedly the best (IMHO).

  M.M Keeravani has developed some very distinctive chord progressions. These are noticeable in the charanam part of the "Tum mile dil khile" song and also the exceptional "Ma perati Jam chettu" from the film Pelli Sandhadi. He again does a very terrific job in the song "Teluginti peratilona" from the film Paradesi, where the simplistic tune is elevated by some excellent chords. The song "Pehli Nazar mein dil de diya hai", has the best accordion interludes I have heard for some time. In tamil songs, my favorite song of MM is "Sadhi Malli Poochcharamey" from Azhagan.

  His another film is "Pattondru ketten" from AVM . All the songs in Annamacharya are very nice.Some of his best nsongs are:
  1) Sangeetha swarangal
  2) Thathithom by chithra
  3) Mazhaiyum neeye. the above three from Azhagan
  4)Sa, Sa nee..... Niveda and Pattu Pattu from Nee padhi naaan padhi
  3)Siragu illai, Jana gana mana, Nadodi mannargale, Nee andavana from Vaname ellai,
  Marakka mudiyavillai from Jathi Malli

  All the songs in DevaRagam are just great, Then the song 'Agaya kadalum Neelam Than' from kamal starrer Pasavalai is a good one. 'unnodu Than kanavilae..' from kondattam is again a good number, atleast he has lot of originality in his score compared to all modern day MDs and also so called great ones.

  Some more (not very well-known) movies of Maragathamani are Sivandha Malar (*ing Sarath Kumar, Gouthami), Sevagan, Pratap (*ing Arjun, Khushboo), and those Mouli-Ashwini Nachappa combination movies.

  Another good score he has given in Hindi is from Mahesh Bhatt's (supposedly 'last' film) Zakhm. The BG score was also very good. It of course went unnoticed.
  BTW, he has borrowed heavily from Enigma in the 'Criminal' song (prelude). But his tune is original and is a nice melody that became a hit in all languages.

  Keeravani is a really nice composer with a lot of melody attached to all his compositions. he has given music to some fabulous films of director K.Raghavendra Rao in Telugu. bombai priyudu, allari priyudu, annamayya, sundarakanda being some examples. he has an excellent sense of melody but I think the problem with him is, he doesn't stick to a style that he has generated on his own. gets very easily influenced by ilayaraja and now a days rahman. his forte is actually strong melody music ..I really love his originals... like in kshanakshanam, jamurathri ...

  some of the songs in kshanak kshanam have some copied pieces. i have heard them in an album of 'paul mauriat' . prelude and the interludes of 'thu mile' are also lifts. ( from probably an arab pop song..)
  sorry for not being specific.
  But i agree that he has good talent with 'thathithom' and 'kozhi koovum neeram aachu' in which he has very efficiently used s.siva chidhambaram. and he was good in choosing his own voice for ' kambangaadu' in v.ellai.

  I knew Maragatha Mani and Keeravani are the same person, I love his music. For a long while I have been looking for a patriotic song composed by MM Kreem and I hit upon this posting. I am totally taken by surprise that it is all the same person.
  
  BTW, about MM Kreem's song, it is an anti-terrorism song shot for Doordarshan and aired around 1997. The video was very nice and the music was a treat to the ears. In the video, a teenager in Kashmir takes to militancy, regrets it and returns back to his family profession. Anyone know this?
