Raaja has been over-generous to some directors in composing more than the required number of songs for a particular film. as a result, one or more songs get dropped from the movie, though they are included in the soundtrack. eg: vikram, which has a beautiful KJY duet "sippikkul oru muthu malarnthathu", Michael Madana KR, "aadi pattam thedi thennal" and another chitra solo. are there any other such songs?

DhaLapathi has "puththampudhu pU pUththadhO" which is not there in the movie. But the song keeps coming as a part of the BGM whenever Bhanupriya appears... beautiful KJY song again...

Gokul: I went thro that page before posting. One more song which was supposedly not in the film is the song.
"aazhakadalil thedia muthu aasai punalil thondriya muthu enga raasakkannu aayirathil onne onnu". It was supposedly for the movie "Sattam en kayil". I am not sure about this but I've heard a lot of people talk about this.

Have you guys forgotten Illaiyarajavin Rasikan? Maalai Sevvanam was always played by Radio Ceylon only. They played the song in the evenings and it is one of my best twilight songs.

The other unreleased movie Panchami has a song ' Udaya Kaalame, Nanainda Megame and Radio Ceylon used to play this one (all in the early 80s) between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. It is an sublime ritual to have these two songs heard daily at these two nerams. It is my Nalla Nerams. Apt songs, and who in the world has thought of giving us such sublime, blissful, heavenly yet rustic and devotional experience. None other than the one and only rarest of the rare, most intellectual of the intellectual, most brilliant of the brilliants, most ingenious among the geniuses, most spiritual of the spiritual composers (excluding the Trinity), most modern of the space age composers, most timeless of the infinities of this universe. May God shower the greatest blessings on those who are able to find peace listening to the Isaignani's music.

 Any questions?

 Hi Folks,

Check out the song "Anandham Anandham Nhee Thanthathu" in the movie "Pootatha Pootukkal" directed by Mahendren, music by the great IR. Great Piano start in this song! The movie I think never made it to screen. Can anyone suggest other songs from that movie? The song is in a CD made by Prince's Music Service, Singapore.

Pootatha Pootukkal has got two more perfect numbers. Vanna Vanna Poonjolayil, poomalayil. (Listen to the beat)and there is Aaasai Nenjin Kanavugal Valarthirai. Anandham Anandham' piano bits in all the interludes will put even Beethoven's Emperor concerto look a little less interesting. The chorus and the folk voices are just timeless. It tells me that IR has been imbibing the sounds of our culture for a 1000 years. I have never heard such sounds in my life even though I have listened to more sounds than the best music libraries in Asia have in their computers!
