Sriram Lakshman and Manisekaran gave me this news
about that song.. KVM had that song composed & recorded for
Ramanna for some movie but it was not used in that
movie. Later, when Ramanna made kulEbagAvali (VR
were the MDs, of course) he used KVM's song in
this movie. That's why I particularly included
this song in this KVM selection. Of course, it is
also a lovely melody.

sk: Yes, it was originally by KVM. Vairamuthu quoted this in his 'Paattu Patta paadu' programme. KVM's name doesn't appear in the title credits. VM goes to mention the case of MSV's song 'mettu onnai thedi' in Kaathal Mannan (composed by MSV), which, by fate or whatever, was also missed out in title credits. This movie was scored by Bharatwaj.

sk, thanks for the song "paduthal purandal" by msv sung by spb, frankly I have not heard such a complicated tune with a very interesting percussion for the past 20yrs. Spb in full flow.

paduththAl puRandAL is a lovely song made
very lively by SPB's singing and, as you said,
interesting percussion.

The cassette recording that I had was very
poor and so the rm encoding is
also poor. (The same goes for several other songs
in the Old SPB Songs section in my page.)

super progression,
LRE sings it wonderfully, trumpets,sax are placed very well, the drum variations are simply out of the world. (in the prelude the beat (not the tempo) changes and comes back, perfect example of jazz), you can here wawaw being used on chorus (saranam), lots of chormatic scales

Srikanth, kalaikoyil came out somewhere between 61 and 64. Other songs in the movie are totally in contrast to this song,
the famous 'thangaratham vanthathu veethiyilE' by Dr.BMK and PS (BMK's favorite Abhogi) ,
Deviyar iruvar oruvankku (a super dance number by PS) and naan unnai chErntha selvam (a romantic number by PS and PBS).

I was reading about Bharathi in IR's New
Albums.. and I wondered if we have made a list
of all Bharathi's songs in tfm. I would like to
