Hi all,
is the best singer TFM has ever had. Infact not only TFM but the entire TM.
HAve you heard these songs by TFM: Since I'm a Vaishnavite by birth, my parents always believed in my practising anything that is Vaishnavaite.
This that I used to have contained songs on Lord Vishnu, rendered by SG. Simply Magical.
1. Oppilladha Perumal... ( On Lord Uppiliyappa in Kumbakonam).
2. Geethai Sonna Kannan.. ( On Lord Parthasarathy in Triplicane)
3. Kanna Puram Sendren .. ( On Lord Narayana in Kanna Puram)
4. KAveri Soolpozhil.. ( On Lord Ranganatha in Sri Rangam)
5. Narayana ennum .. ( On Lord Balaji in the great Thirupati).
Friends, each song is a Masterpiece, an epitome of Bhakti. Ofcourse, the lyrics and music were just too good. I just wonder why there aren't many of these kinds of non-filmy albums these days.
Back to the songs, you won't believe the confidence or the Gambeeram he sings with. Also, the emotions he packs them with...
My grandma used to cry whenever she listened to these songs. In the song Kannapuram Sendren, he chants the Mantra, "Om Namo Narayana" , rather sings. Man!! Its like, I'm not a very religious guy, but even I myself get pullarichified.
Ofcourse he sings all these for movey is an entirely different issue. But all these songs speak about the greatness, the genius of the singer that is SG.
We all miss him.
Also I've listened to one of his songs on Amman:
Chinnanjiru Pen Pole...
The best of his songs according to me:
"Om ennum Pranava uruvadayndhai.."
its on Lord Ganesha. The ease he deals it with is just mind blowing to comprehend. Loaded with Tonnes of Gamakkam, I bet it should be a very difficult song to render, even by the present day greats.
Can anyone help me with the name of the raga the above mentioned song is based on? I'm just not getting it now..

Typo:
In the third line read "TFM" as "SG"
Please read "This I used to have" as "This cassette that I used to have"

it is a pity that siva chidambaram is not utilized properly in TFM and is forced to sing numbers like "Odakkaara maarimuththu".. he has inherited his father's voice, and should be used more. he can give the variety the current MDs are searching for, and can be a good alternative to using singers like udit narayan:))

The corrections on lyrics of vinayagane:
'Kuraigal KaLaya' and not Agatra.
'Gana Naathaney Maanganiyay Undaai' and not vendrai.
Iam proud of the great fans of the ever great maestro with the Goldenvoice Dr.Sirkali. Do you know that his name was rejected twice from the panel for Padmashri and Sangeet natak akademi just being pronounced as the singer for the masses !
Do you know that the letter for recognition of this great singer for Top ranking grade arrived from the ALL INDIA RADIO three days after his demise! Such things happen to deserving, simple, unassuming, humble, talented musicians in INDIA. The greatest honour which such singer can get without any factual promotion or communal bias is the applause and sabash from the masses, which Iam sure Sirkali enjoyed throughout his career.
Dr.SivaChidambaram is not only a singer. He is a Transplant Physician at Govt.General Hospital,Chennai, apart from being a good Classical vocalist. His Devotional cassetes on Lord Muruga and Ayyappa are hot cakes. He is also not too fussy about the numbers and quantities like others. He concentrates on quality and all his albums are received with a hue and cry.
AR.Rahman was decent enough to try a folk 'Odakkara Marimuthu' and a pop 'Anjaathe Jeeva' in Jodi. News reveal that he has sung for recent films with Adityan, Sirpi - Mr.Naradhar, Deva - Manu Neethi, Engalukkum kalam varum, Rajarajeswari, Sangeetharajan - Idhu Mudivathillai. It is very unfortunate that guys like Ilayaraja who dominated a 20 long years in the industry with only few voices like SPB,KJJ,PS,SJ,Chitra, Swarnalatha, etc did not use such powerful voices like Sirkalis, despite their ability. With present day music directors like AR Rahman who insist on fair chances to all singers of India and the world, with two title card insertions for playback artistes (after G.Ramanathan days) Sivachidambaram is sure to get his due. He is busy as a doctor, carnatic and devotional musician travelling worldover frequently and not to miss out, the Chairman of the great Kapaleeswarar temple of Mylapore,Chennai. We pray he gets the time to sing more for films.

There is no singer to replace the GREAT Sirkazhi.
Todays technology can create falsetto singers. There is only one Sirkazhi who rang the bell in his voice. NOBODY CAN SING LIKE HIM. I CHALLENGE THE CURRENT DAY SINGERS! LET THEM 'TRY' TO REPRODUCE SAMPOORNA MAHABARATHAM SONG -Kalai pozhuthey which we use to listen in Radio Ceylon those days or for that matter Sivasankari from JAGATALAPRADABAN, in the SAME SRUTHI AND PERFECTION!

The one and the only replacement for the greatest of all great vocalist of TFM is his son Sivasidambaram. He looks, sings and moves with his fans like his great father. No other singer sons have acquired this quality. I pray him more success in TFM. His Manu neethi film song is a super hit duet. Song is a bit sexy lyriced. For the Current day youngsters I feel Sivasidambaram is THE BEST OF THE STAR SONS. I went to one of his concerts in the music season and he was literally called 'MGR Padagar' with the way he treated his fans and seniors in the crowd. Iam sure many would have appreciated this. Long Live Sivasidambaram.

I just listened to Sirkazhis son sing at AVM Rajeswari Kalyana mandapam for Dr. Lalitha Kamesawarans felicitations. I was thrilled. There is no doubt that Dr. Siva Chidambaram is THE befitting son of the great maestro, the illustrious son of the illustrious father. His voice, expression, mastery in carnatic music were all amazing. For a medical doctor in service to do such a music is a real great thing. He should get the proper recognition in films, classical music sabha seasons etc.

Congradulations Balaji Pratap Sirkali for your excellent dedication.
There is no doubt that dedication runs in your family as evidenced by the services of your grand father, uncle and now yourself.
Sikali is no doubt the greatest singer of Tamilnadu!

Padmashri, Dr. Isaimani, Isaiperarignar, Dr.Sirkali S. Govindarajan, A great soul who richly deserves all the titles and many more posthumously.
We are lucky that he has left Sirkali Sivasidambaram to follow the rich legacy.
I visited the web site and it is great.

Hi
I have never seen Dr. Sirkali Govindarajan. I never listen to his songs. You know I always mime a tune which I don’t know where I found this. But I like it very very much. Last year I visited India. It was my seventeen. When I visited a Church with my parents, I heard a song where it comes from a pavement shop. It’s exactly the song I miming. When I asked the shop owner, he said it’s Dr. Sirkali Govindarajan song. I am really surprised. Because I never heard this song and I never know about Dr. Sirkali Govindarajan.
I later came to know my mom listen to this song when she was pregnant. There was a hindu family next to our house in USA. Even if mother doesn’t understand the language, she liked that song. I don’t know why.
Then I asked a Asian family near to my house, [I think they are Indians] They told about Dr. Sirkali Govindarajan.
I tried to get that song but I didn’t. Nobody no about that. Asian family have written a lyrics of that song . But they don’t have that song.
Could you please send me the song if you have. I have written some lines below.
It may be a .MP3 or .wmv. Whichever format is ok.
Please help me to get this song. I really really like that. I will be really really greatful if you find this song.
Song Lyrics........
Bala Murugan Vilayadal
En Padal ellam avan Padal
Mulumaiyana alahil ellam Murugavelin Muhachayal
Regards
Rebecca
