A bit of info...KArthik S
Lowe Lintas's Creative head is one Mr. Balki (Balakrishan)..he's from Bangalare..must be 35...he was specially brought from Bangalore to Mumbai to improve the creative quality of Lowe Lintas's ads...he did that...and has been listed among India's best Copywriters in the book "The Last Word - India's best copywriters write about their craft".
Maybe Balki is a Tamilian...I am not sure....

>>>Today I was listening to the mp3 version of this song from some CD and I feel, "Ram Ram" song in movie 'Hey Ram' is heavily inspired by this tune and orchestrisation ...
Appa magana paaththu kaapi adikkirara.. Vekka kedu.
Or it will be like this. All the current mordern sounding IR songs are actually rendered by his two sons..IR should not do what he doesn't know to do. He should compose songs as he used to do in 1980's.
That Ram Ram song was too mordern to say that it was a film about pre independance era. Too much of electronic sound.

Some more facts about Balki - National Creative Director, Lowe Lintas :
His most famous television commercials, at least those I can recall :
1. VAn Heusen - Underline your Presence
2. Kissan? Ketchup - Aa..Aa..AAja (shot by Rajiv Menon)
2. Kawasaki Bajaj (the new ads)- which show two bikers racing on the road but slow down at a temple/church doing the customary 'bow' and skirting around a kollam on the road etc.
He is a very down to earth guy and when asked how he came into advertising, he just replies "Because it is the only profession that requires no qualifications".
Before you guys start assuming things, I'd better clarify that what he means is 'advertising creativity' needs no degrees. It can be tapped and learnt.

Was going through your well documented site. I was reading Sandeep Chowta's plagiarisms and was reminded of one of his first which I wanted to post here but forgot.
The title track "Mast"...the rhythm section is a direct lift from Depeche Mode's "Barrel of a Gun" (released long back before Mast).
Could you confirm this ?

Thanks for the info on Balki and Depeche Mode-Mast. I gotto know that the Mast title track also has something to do with a track by Afro Celt Sound System...but dunno which number! I'd check the Depeche Mode number anyway.
Balki using IR numbers seems plausible...him being a possible Tamilian!

Interesting find. I always thought that the Dilwale Dulhaniye Le Jatange song "Zara Sa Zoom Loom Mey" ;--) was an IR inspired song. My instincts seem right when I heard Poothathu Poonthoppu Paathu Paathu!!!! What a splendid similarity. IR song is from Thangamanasukkaran I think and came out in 1992. DDLJ came out in 1994, is it not? Anybody found the similarity?

well... in that case, "Tujhe dekha to yeh" from DDLJ is a rehash of "Didi tera dewar" from HAHK. almost all HFM MDs have taken from IR. The best being Anu Malik who contested that his "Tu tu tu tara" from Bol Radha Bol ( a ctrl c of "Rakkamma kayya thattu" - Thalapati) was his original...!!!

Steve, Nile nile ambar was just the dubbing version of Ilaiya Nila. It wasn't a case of copying, it was merely used as a full song.

'Steve'!
Welcome to newtfmpage forum. :) and to this thread.
Firs of all, "Neele Neele Ambar par" is not from the movie 'muquaddar ka sikkandar'. It is from 'Kalaakaar' (*ing Sridevi & Kunal Goswami) which was a Hindi remake of the Tamil mega hit, 'PayaNangaL Mudivathillai'.
Composers Kalyanji-Anandji copied IR's original Tamil number, with some changes in teh charaNams. Not vice versa.
I remember this though: the title music of 'Kalaakaar' is a note-by-note instrumental replica of the Tamil original.
A request to Karthik S:
Can you please list Anand-Milind's copied songs of IR (dozens) & ARR (KAdhal ROjave song) in your page? Lots of North Indians are not aware of the fact that the duo made a life out of copying Ilayaraja songs. Thanks.

I listened to all the songs from that movie Kalkkar. There is an ocean of difference between IR's class and that guy's class. All the songs were hits in payanangal mudivathillai. Salaiyoram, Raga deepam, Vaigaraiyil, Thogai Ilamayil, Atha, IllayaNila, Mani osai kettu in addition to great BGM.

FOR SOME REASON ...THE OLD HINDI NUMBERS SOUNDED ALL "SIMILAR"(had been better than tamil)..SO I GOT BIT OF CONFUSED.

Balki from Lowe responds!!!
What I wrote to him...
I had seen the 2 recent advts by Lowe - Kissan Fruit Kick Soft Drink Concentrate and Idea Cellular. I'm sure you have consciously used 2 of Ilayaraja's classic songs (or was it somebody's else's handiwork?)...my interests are purely from the side of my website. (http://www.iespana.es/i2fs - Take a look at the link 'Advt Lifts') What made you use those songs, that too in such a short span of time....there's just a month's gap between the two. Many online Ilayaraja fans are lamenting the fact that his songs never made it big in the North and here we have his classic oldie from Alaigal Oivathillai beautifully adapted in Hindi! It was brilliant! Both the advt and the music in it, I mean!
If using these 2 Ilayaraja songs is not your idea...sorry for this mail. But could you please lemme know the person behind the idea!!!
What he wrote back:
"I am one of Ilayaraja's biggest fans"
He wrote just one sentence but I guess that sums it all up! So I think we can expect more IR songs in his advts in the future!!!

Karthik S,
I hear Karthik Raja has composed for an Ad. film directed by Priyadarshan,
By any chance he was involved in Balki's works as well ?
