Today, in Chennai, 'KAATHAL SAMRAJYAM' audio cassette release function is done.

Any review the songs?

  I listened to the music of Kadhal Samrajyam yesterday in musicindiaonline..the quality was bad..but i was impressed by the music alright.
  Yuvan does try to do something different. Although Bombay City, Kaloori Padam were average and Sithanna Vasal didnt quite make good use of SPB, Mullai Poo and Iru Kangal sollum were pretty good and Thozhi Thozha and Vidinja Kannalam were also quite ok.
  I wouldnt rate it as good as Thulluvadho Ilamai or Nandha..but then a very consistent performance from Yuvan who is showing merit to all the praise coming his side these days.
  On another note, did you guys try listening to Karmegham by Vidyasagar(its available in www.mohankumars.com) ? As usual, the dark horse Vidyasagar has come up with a very hummable score.His performance is amazing and considering the fact that most of his releases, have solid top quality music, I feel he is given not even a part of the praise and kudos he deserves.
  He might not be a genius like ARR or IR but he is one helluva good MD.
  Given all the focus on Baba, I think we should also try to listen to some other MDs compositions which are on par or even higher than Baba.
  Also, I havent seen much discussion on King by Dhina. Although most songs are copies and songs with tanglish singers, "Gongura" by Mathangi is very addictive. It has bad lyrics but the tune is very catchy !Check it out.

  Music fan i think is right about Vidyasagar. A very underrated composer. His Allithantha Vaanam was top notch and his latest 'Run' is also fabulous.

  Damnn that mulai poo song gonna cost me 10 bucks.. i usually wai tfor mp3 and make my own cd.. now i am going to the store just coz there is no mp3 yet...
  
  I think Mullai poo song has good lyrics..may be its not very meaningful at some points.. but the words fits so nice with the beat..

  I think SPB Charan is not properly used these days(or ever?). I happend to notice he is overshadowed by his nainaa SPB. PPl think as long as SPB exists Saranai appuram paakalam. he has such a sweet voice. the Mullai poo song is an examble.
  
  In the movie "Alagana Naatkal" there were 2 numbers of same song. One by Hariharan other by Saran.First one was good but the second one was clearly better.:)

  Geethai - the next vijay movie and the first movie with the combination of YSR and Vijay. Maasah Allah! It should be a hit like Dhina. All the next movies of Ajit except Villan is having music of YSR. I belive, YSR is having more than 15 movies at his hand. KR is having almost 5 movies in hand and IR is as usual having more than 10 movies at hand. I think almost half of the tamil movies produced now-a-days are IR family as music directors. Wallayi!   A disappointment from YSR after nandhaa. He recycles his own song (kalloori padam). My dislike for rhythm oriented songs seems to grow day-by-day and YSR's performance in this album seems to encourage it.

  ..BTW people tell good things about VidyaSagar..but whenever I hear him I am reminded of some old IR song..only the beats seem to be modern..I cant henceforth seem to like that song anymore..listen to the eponymous kaarmegham song..that IS an IR song ..including the tone/pitch of the singer..!!!!
  Its a pity that even IR is not successful like vidyasaagar commercially !!!! what a contradiction or the fans just cant tell quality anymore ??

  I think As ARR disappointed 'slightly' with BABA same did YSR with his Kathal Samrajyam.
  Two songs,Mullai poo and Iru Kangal are outstanding but the rest is crap. Ya he seems to repeat some tunes. (If anyone noticed Vidinja than kannalam resembles... a Unakaga ellam unakkaga song by Saran)
  YSR used to give 100% deena, nandha etc now where is dat guy? Junior Senior is very average and now KS.
  
  Did anyone listen to unpopular Karmegham by VidyaSagar? May be it is some dubbed one but better than both BABA and KS.? if not go TamilTerra. Listen to this song by Unnimenon(i think)

  The album is overall... nice. Best song of the lot is 'Eru kangal sollum kaathal seithi'... Its just awesome, gives you a great feeling.. I cant stop listening to it

  Yuvan has come up with a very nice album in short period. I think the project was started few months back and it is ready to be screened. I would rate this album much above Junior Senior and manathai thirudi vittAi.

  Four songs are not that much rhythm oriented in this album. Though kalloori pAdam is a remake of his telugu song, I am glad that he included it in this album. I was searching to get hold of his telugu CDs, but very unlucky and couldn't even find MP3s. :))

  the song by balaram (eru kankal) will go as YSR's best ...and the song by Karthick is also good ..
  But the song by Shankar Mahadevan is crap and the rest are average ..
  Theme music is difernet but not exciting .Seems they neede a song to fill the gap ..
