It is not Sindhu Bhairavi Part -II. But out & out a carnatic music based film album by Ilaiyaraja. It is a parthiban film. Carnatic critic subbudu is quoted as having said,"raja orutharaal dhaan ippadi swarangalai kaiyaala mudiyum" after he listened to the songs tuned by Maestro for this film. :-)

Could you guys post more info about this movie please. I basically love the Carnatic semiclassicals that proliferate in all South Indian films very very much. Who has sung under IR for this film? What's the film's name? When will its audio be released?
I have relished IR's Carnatic scores in innumerable films. I hope more and more MDs start turning towards Indian classical tunes amidst the entire hullabaloo created by cheap disco numbers all over India.

AVR,
The movie has Parthiban & Soundarya in lead cast. The story's plot revolves around carnatic music. The cassette release might be around April first week.Movie is titled "IVAN". Parthiban said,"Indha padathil paadalgal migavum pudhumaiyaaga irukkum."
It was also mentioned in media reports that SUBBUDU who intially refused to act in the movie, accepted after he listened to the storyline details & songs scored by the one & only maestro :-).

no jalra,
I detect generous dollops of sarcasm and add to it the fact that the last 5 messages (before this one by mine) are by one person!
So James Cameron is thinking of asking IR to do the bgm of his next mega production after Titanic after he heard the bgm composed by IR for Ivan. Right?

Sudha Ragunathan is singing her first song under Ilayaraja for this film IVAN.
The song is set in Simmendra Madhyamam ('aanandha raagam','kaatrodu kuzhalin naaadhame','nee pournami' are some of
Raja's earlier songs in this raga), in which, incidentally, her guru MLV has also sung a film song - 'ellaam inbamayam'. Carnatic violinists Lalgudi Krishnan, Vijayalakshmi, Embar Kannan, V.V. Ravi are playing for this song.
One more song of this film will be a jugalbandi between Sudha Ragunathan and a hindustani vocalist (Ajoy Charavarty, probably).

And Parthiban's one liner about the film IVAN is,"eppadi paarkireergalo appadi therivaan IVAN". Reminds me of how Maniratnam describes his movies :-)

Twilight_zone:
I think Ajoy Chakraborthy also sang in Hey Raam?
Anyways, that duet between him and Sudha Raghunathan would be interesting and a true novelty. Moreover I have been recently introduced to ACs classical renditions (Hindustani) and they are stunningly sweet, innovative, intricate and extremely involving to a listener.
Thanks,
AVR

AVR, if u r really intrested in classical ragas used by IR for film songs till date, give me ur e-mail address, and i can send you details that u wud find interesting. :-)

twilight_zone (@ 202.88.152.159):
Thanks for that. I have read in detail the 13 articles on classical Ilayaraja in this site by a gentleman at the University of Houston, Texas - i think Lakshminarayan Srirangam Ramakrishnan. I found most of the examples to be very interesting. There was also a site by R S Balaji...anyway I read this out of pure curiosity as I have zero knowledge of Carnatic.
BTW if you havent got hold of ACs Hindustani vocal tapes, and bengali devotional, semiclassical (Raag prodhan) songs, do so ASAP! They are fantastic!

I have been to many of ajoy's concerts and he is amazing! Excellent technique and a soothing, melliflous voice.
And I was thrilled to hear the Isayil Thodanguthammaa number in Tamil as well as the Har Koyee Samjhe Prem Ki Baasha in Hindi!
His Tamil rendition is almost flawless! hats off to him! and thanks to IR to introduce this talented man to Tamil audiences!

Neels, very true about ajoy. I wish we have more such talented singers in TFM rather than nasal voices :-) [lighter vein, NOM]. I have same feelings abt madhu balakrishnan introduced by IR in BHARATHI. That song "edillum ingu iruppan avan yaaro" sends a shiver thru my spine every time i listen to it. What a stunning rendition by Madhu Balakrishnan!!!. Similarily, the way Ajoy has added value to the lovely HAMSANAADHAM based "isaiyil thodangudhamma" with gamakkams is lovely. And watch out for all those raunchy percussions (oh, so much natural sounding beats) in that song.
I am eager to hear IR's jugalbhandhi with lovely sudha raghunadhan & ajoy pair's voice in this film IVAN :-)
