Some of the things that occurred to me regarding the DF:
* Organize the Archives by category: IR threads, ARR threads, Debate threads, Lyricists, Singers, Other MDs, etc.
* Once the Archives are arranged by category, then everyone who wants to start a new thread should scroll through the category in the Archives where the new thread would belong. If a similar thread already exists in the Archives, then the person should just revive this thread. This would not only save space in the DF and time for the TFM team, but also help keep the DF free of repetition and maybe prod us to think of new things to discuss. Also, when an Archived thread is revived, it brings with it a history of previous postings that may have covered what is about to be added by another person.
* Maybe there should be a limit of how many current threads to have out there, this way each thread gets more individual time.

Hi Udhaya:
Nice suggestions. Here are some more ideas -
How about moving TFM DF under the Forum Hub ? This might attract more attention to the other forums too.
New Topics can have a mandatory Category field, which could ensure that they automatically categorize upon archival.
In a lighter vein ;-), how about maintaining a no IR Vs. ARR week once a month ?

how about maintaining a no IR Vs. ARR week once a month ?
I would dig that.
How about role reversals too like they conduct in therapy groups?
For a whole week "Junior" and the likes will only write good things about IR and bad things about ARR, and "S.P.Mahendran" and the likes will only write good things about ARR and bad things about IR.
In the end everybody realizes that all artists succeed and suck depending on their ventures, and we all live happily ever after. . .

the current threads section is too long. we have threads which we forgot about and which have no activity for days still sitting there. we must have only the threads which are, say are active within the past 3 days or so. also , threads which are killed by ravi & co should be taken away from the current topics section. this will make the forum look better. about arranging threads in categories, we usually find that the discussion gets out of the topic sometimes and the "category" part will not capture it. of course we see all threads start off somewhere and end up in IR vs ARR contest!!!

balaji: About current threads. The present expiry time is 5 days.. down from 10 days and then a week. About removing threads that I kill, when I do that people imm. start threads saying that I started a thread nad it has disappeared. So I leave the threadds in here so that people know what hap. to them atleast.

The following are my suggestions to improve the standard of the forum.
Have a introductory document for Newcomers about the topics discussed along the lines Udhaya has suggested.
Limit the no of threads alive at any number of time.
The facility to Start a new thread must be like in the 'Forum Hub'.This i hope will avoid redundant topics.
Ultimately , I want HUB to evolve into what it means and the TFM Page participants must see beyond TFM [ eventhough it is the thing which has brought us together :) ] and move towards the Hub.

TFM Group,
Is it possible to have page numbers for each thread instead of shoving 10 to 20 pages under "Old Responses"? This way it is easier to go to a specific page and specific post and I can also keep track of where I'm in the maze of Old Responses.
Hotmail has it, search engines have it when they display search matches. Is it pretty hard to implement this in the DF?

I'd second the move for a intro forum for newbies. I am only 2 days old here and was lost initially.. even now, I'm just finding my way through.

udhaya,
we are still thinking about a good way of managing the old responses.
But we have a temporary solution. You can enter a start page URL and get a list of all its old responses. Try it, the form is on the forum main page.

please post ur comments/suggestions on the new look of newtfmpage/df. for this deepavali, we've done these:
- New fast search engine
- Reinstated TFM database
- Broken links fixed
- New songs lyrics page
- New picks of the month with SG songs
- cleaned up the archives (categorizing archives is underway.. the database now provides a decent categorization).
- a new survey
- a new page for the different paadal lists compiled in DF.

Great Job!! Enna portal aakiteenga? Eppo IPO? ;)
Just a small suggestion. In the banner at the top, is there some way in which you can keep changing the gifs everytime you reload so that a different artistes pop up in the banner.

I would like to thank the TFM Team for all the time and effort that have gone into this project. The "new and improved" version looks and works great. This is indeed a wonderful Deepavali gift.
Keep up the good work, guys!!!

Dear DF managers,
Please explore the possiblity of somehow integrating the Lyrics page and the lyrics thread. There are so many songs posted in the thread but could have been added easily to your lyrics page. May be you can credit the person who posted (so that he can take the blame for any mistakes :-))

bb,Rajaraman, Ravi and others who made the new dynamic newtfmpage possible, here's a big virtual hug from me. Thanks a bunch.
Oh, my favorite, an organized "Archives" section is what I'm truly waiting for. Thanks for giving a *%&@.

udhaya, the database (http://newtfmpage.com/my/ ) more or less organizes the archives.. u can see the threads on
- lyricists and lyrics
- on different MDs
- separate list for threads on ARR and IR
- threads on KD, VM, vaali
- threads on different singers.
- threads on song lists.
will have to make it dynamic soon.

My preferred threads, forum hub (abt movies), links window (to sites like rex's), news hub etc.. may be. (No doubt, Of course the present lay out itself is quite comprehensive.)

At least one thing that needs to be done is in the sorting of threads. I think it is better to sort the threads with the latest at the top and the oldest at the bottom. And the sorting should probably be automatic. I find a lot of lately updated threads sometimes in the middle of the page. Idha sari panna mudiyumnu nenaikiren.
