6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!
Source :HinduTimes

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

--- Kalki MD yaaru Naatamai??
I think you haven't read my message properly.
That happened frequently AFTER he joined hands with ThunduBhai, no wonder his movies didn't run!
--- She is withdrawing all the nice moves she made which would have made TN improve economically. She is back to the masses not worrying about the treasury.
Adengappa, TN makkal mela enna oru pasam, nesam..I don't think it is worth talking about her since we very well know how much she is corrupted.
Anyway people who claim that Tamil movie goers are watching only masala movies now, answer these Qs.
1. When ratnam's movies MR, Nayagan, Ithayaththai thirudathe, Roja were hits, didn't people watch masals movies?
2. Just blaming fans instead of looking at the reasons for its failure, is it a good thing?

My roots are in western music: Sunitha Sarathy
By Moviebuzz
Sunitha Sarathy, a discovery of A.R.Rahman, is the latest sensation in the world of music. Her songs “Hey Goodbye Nanba” (Aayitha Ezhuthu), "Eh Khuda Hafiz" (Yuva) and “Hey Goodbye…Priya” (in Telugu) are chartbusters. And the “Fanna” disco number she sang with A.R.Rahman has become a hot favourite with disc jockeys in Mumbai and Delhi. Sunitha Sarathy speaks to Sify.com in an exclusive interview.
Did you have any formal training in music?
I have never been voice-trained. Basically my roots are in western music. Some of my music directors say that my pitching is good and my range allows me to fluctuate between high and low. The songs that I have sung in films like Warriors Of Heaven And Earth, Mango Souffle, Mitr My Friend, Knock Knock, Boom and Tehzeeb are all chartbusters. My first Malayalam song in the film Runway, “Shaba…Shaba” is a sensational hit.
How did you enter film music?
I was singing jingles for various advertisements before I sung my first film song “Kaaka Kaaka…” in Balu Mahendra’s Julie Ganapathy.
Which are your hit numbers in Tamil?
All my numbers have a western tinge like the "Maro Maro" from Boys, "Thoothu Varuma" from Kaakha Kaakha, "Adichi Pudichu" from Kurumbu and the title track of New.
What is your opinion about Tamil film music?
Tamil film music is working as the new generation is weaned on MTV and other western channels. The tunes are not traditional melodies but are hit numbers that keep the listener’s adrenalin flowing and sales growing! Oomph, zing and a mint-fresh appeal in the voice is necessary to survive in Tamil film music.
When you sang the songs of Mani Ratnam’s film did you think that they would be chartbusters?
I knew that the "Fanaa" number would become very popular but "Hey Goodbye Nanba" was a surprise for me. I myself was amazed when I heard it afterwards.
How was it singing with Lucky Ali?
I am a big fan of Lucky Ali and haven’t met him till now though we have sung the duet in Aayitha Ezhuthu.
What are your forthcoming songs?
I am looking forward to songs in films like Sathurangam, Ninaivae, Arasakshi in Tamil and Kisna directed by Mr Subhash Ghai where Rahman is the music director.
Who are your role models?
There are too many people like - Whitney Houstan, Mariah Carrey, Lucky Ali, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Alka, Chitra and many others.

Give Yuva a chance. Don't pre-judge the film - Mani Ratnam
[Pic : Rediff]
Why do you assume anything has gone wrong? Nothing has gone against the film. Word-of-mouth is good. The film is good, so everything is okay.
It is also too early to analyse the film. If you ask a filmmaker to analyse his own film, it would take three or four years to do that, honestly. Because when you make a film, you have to be convinced about it. You are married to that film for a year.
I am very happy with the film. I am happy with the response I have got so far from the theatres.
I am glad that we can make bold films, different films within the commercial market and still do well.
This interview with Mani Ratnam explains all. Read it on here on Rediff.
P.S: Aptly said Anti/Viji. As Viji pointed out Kamal literally came out of Bollywood for these same reasons.
However, the reason that he isn't tall enough for a bollywood hero was a humbug. Pity that Mani Ratnam is also pushed to the same state of affairs. But Mani Ratnam has always stood against such acts. Be it the censors or terrorist attacks, he had remained calm in the face of the media. His sudden press meet, I should say, is certainly because he is upset about the movie pundits too much.
