Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.

bb,
Grat job on today's SOTD. I hope you make this an SOTD trend too. Why not pick a different private album, musician to feature each week? While we have plenty of time to rehash the old, let's do our part in encouraging new blood.
Srikanth shines in every genre he attempts. I hope the commercial world of music discovers him soon. I hope to see other newtfmpage cult favorites like Srikanth make it big where it counts (commercially at least). "80's in Chennai" is a product of sheer collaboration. I know because my words show up here and there in the song, but the singer, MD and other musicians composed and wrote this song as a committee. The result is a youthful song from a desi yuppie point of view. My sincere wishes to the whole team in all their endeavors.

I very much enjoyed hearing this 'pasumai niRaindha ninaivugaL' song. One of the very nice things about it is that the lyrics are simple and interesting. The lyrics have also been made to stand out very clearly.. something you don't see in modern TFM songs, example, the songs of Boys! Can you mention to us the names of the lyricist, singer and any others who took part in the composition? As Udhaya said, it would be nice to make such songs a regular feature in SOTD.

Well done, Srikanth! Thanks, bb.
The lyrics are sure to bring back a nostalgic smile on any one--wonderful! I liked the first interlude a lot, and also the sudden allusion to 'Pon maalai pozhuthu':)
All the best!

Song of the Day: thEsulaavuthE thEn malaraalE from maNaaLanE mangaiyin baakkiyam.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/thesulaavuthE.rm
- A classic song for the weekend. Music by Adi Narayana Rao (husband of Anjali Devi). Sung by Ghantasala and P.Suseela. A difficult song to sing, and these two singers make it seem so effortless.
- A while back, I asked what is the meaning of thEsulaavuthE in thamizh. Yet to get an answer :)

Just listened to 80s in Chennai. Good job. Shows music can be youthful without being noisy. Best wishes to Srikanth and the team.

Few years back, at Sundaram, (That magnificent temple of Saibaba was due to AnjaliDevi's contribution)we were fortunate enough to hear some lovely devotional compositions of ANRao on Bhagwan Shri SatyaSaiBaba, sung by P.Susheela, Sandhya. One of the songs had the same tune of "Jagadheeshwara swami Parameshwara" from the same film.

BB,
I understood fully the proverb 'kaikku ettiyathu...' today, when I tried to hear the great song ("thEsulaavuthE..."). I can't listen to it after 10 seconds of streaming. Is it an error from your server ? I aint sure about it since there are so many comments on it already. Probably my PC is playing tricks today :(

Da Vinci, I just now tried and it worked. Not sure that the problem is on the server side.

'thEsulAvudhE' means 'vaNdu varugiradhu'. The whole line means that bees are coming due to the honey charged flower. 'mAsil veeNaiyum, mAlai madhiyamum' by appar says 'moosu vaNdarai poigaiyum pOndradhE'. 'moosu' ,'thEsu' yenbavai vaNdaik kurikkum.

Da Vinci: The song is available in MIO. I listened to it a few weeks back.

Raj and Sriram, Thanks. BB, I am still having that issue with this particular song. (I could hear the other SOTD songs).
Saravanan,
'Ezhayin kovilai naadinaen' the first Waltz ? That is an interesting information. And I never knew that GK Venkatesh was a good singer. I earlier requested elsewhere the other version of 'nilai mArinAl...', and I was surprised to know that he was the vocalist. This version had always been in my memory, though not many even knew that another version of the same song existed (possibly since the TMS version being so popular).
Hope to hear more of GK Venkatesh in the coming weeks.
