TFM DFers Reunion - Class of 9x, 2kx - Down Memory Lane

Hi All,

Apologise for this sudden and unusual thread.
We have regular contributors and silent watchers in these forums, some new, some have been there since inception of the forums. Today we have a lot of new faces and there will be more.

I am just curious to know about which year/month did you join in the discussions here..

..I still remember chancing upon newtfmpage in Jan 2001 and sparking off a war in the 'IR's latest' thread unknowingly without realizing the ongoing IR-ARR fans blood feud ! A few of the DFers who were around (and are still)around were : kiru (the audiologist), bharath (a new generation fan), swami (sangeetha vidwan and once Bharath's nemesis!), common friend (a balanced fan), ambleen, eden(who got hurt when I said that he was still stuck in the 70s!), Karthik S (the music dealer who can make out a fake from an original!)...and a lot more interesting people that I have not mentioned !

Could you guys/gals tell us when and how you joined the discussions here and also narrate any funny incidents or discussions that had happened ?

  Hmmmm didnt know where else to make tis comment.
  Cudnt help noticing how admin changed the timing from EST to EDT a few hours ago.
  Tat makes it more convenient for me as now it is exactly 12 hours difference from my time. It used to be 13 hours I think.

  EST=Eastern Standard Time, EDT=daylight savings applied to EST. i think.
  down under, dst happens from nov-mar in eastern states.
  but while shivering in an awkward autumn fast approaching winter [:-((], can't come to terms wit the fact tat the top half of the world is approaching summer.

  Good thread, Cosmician!
  I got hooked to DF during 99 when we first installed a Proxy in our office. (Same Alta vista route, searching for IR, I landed on a thread discussing the reasons for the decline of IR)...
  
  Great job done by RR, Ravi, bb and other admin. I'm moved to thank them.
  
  Some of the threads that I started with reasonable amount of responses are `thAlAttu in TFM', `Recycled songs in TFM' and another on how to rate a melody as `good'. However, the one which had overwhelming response was `IR's 1000 stars' where fellow DFers like YVS Mani, Cram, Sabesan helped compile an excel sheet containing 1000 decent hits of IR (which bb included as a download on top of the thread; unfortunately it got deleted during a server crash and is no longer available in the archives). I would have probably e-mailed to around 100 people this file :-)
  
  Got some good friends through DF too. Though Cosmician says I got hurt etc., so far I don't have anything against any DFer. If there had been some heated response, well, it was at that moment and forgotten quickly thereafter...all this is fun, not to be taken that much emotionally:-))
  
  Not even some who post tons of abuses / irrelevant posts etc. It's just that they don't need any serious attention...
  
  Well, best wishes to all longtime DFers...especially to those who made it such an interesting place -NOV, sk, rajaG, Velaiyathavan (MS), Shankar, vijay (roomie of MS), bb, RR, Ravi, Ramki, Udhaya, Srinath, Srikanth, Geetha Seelan, Manisekaran, Madhan, Raj, Rex, aruvi (who kindly called me aNNan), NagaS, yvs, sabesan, cram, STS, Kupps, Sathyavageeswaran & many more....

  It's on stall. Aruvi is currently musing over textbooks for exams:-). You will see it once all this 'examinating' comes to a brief stop. I myself am waiting for something from SK, RR and so on....enga pOyidaanga? I hope they haven't become Nov uncle's followers:-)

  ater wowing never to touch a computer in my life i was warned in 1998 october that i will be failed if i did not hand in my assignments typed on a word proccessor. in sheer anger i went to uni classes in quick teaching of computer typing. the tutor spent 2 hours also telling us how to get on line. in 2 days i had found this site and have learnt so much abt tamil and mallu films.i was also nearly put off early on by the IR-arr fued.
