Hi All,
I was never impressed with KR before DDD.
But, i think, he's going to make a deep mark in all of us.
Just listened to DDD for a couple of songs. They from average to above average to extraordinary.
Though will post a detailed review of each of the songs, just wanted to put my views on the best songs.
Ragasiyamaai and Sutrum Bhoomi are the best, IMHO.
Especially in Ragasiyamaai, we reach different states. It's probably one of the all time best songs in TFM. Right from the word 'GO' to the end, he's maintained the tempo, melody, rhythm, music and everything.
WHo's the lyricist for this song? He's done a fantastic job. Probably should become a contender for best Lyricist of the year.
This one song itself should make KR proud of and IR should be very happy and feel proud of KR for this song alone.
Hats off to the entire team for such a fantastic effort.
When the first interlude shows KR's skill of fusing Carnatic classic, his second shows his measure of audience likings.(probably adapted IR's music and ARR's humming for decorating the songs).
Hari and SS have done a wonderful job too.
But guys, plz. don't go with anyone's opinion about any of those songs. I'm sure most of us will like atleast 3 of the songs.
detailed review later,
thanx
Sridhar.

While comparing Mani's production Aasai and Nerukku Ner, Deva scored extremely well than this poor KR.

KR usually does more WCM than any other new MD and so was continuing the legacy of IR to some extent. Even though there are string section scores in DDD there is very little of WCM in DDD. This is the disappointment for me but otherwise, I do like this album, especially suRRum bhoomi. This proves you can do a typically tamil/indian song with even rock kinda orchestration. This is the way to go. What is the point in doing songs which exactly sound like POP from the West, except that they sing in tamil ?
(UV, NagaS, Madhav et. al I dont mean to characterise your tastes/liking. I was just making a light-hearted banter. I even put a smiley :) there. NOM).

Kiru,
U said it right, I felt the same after hearing DDD songs. Esp, I felt that the songs sounded like POP from the West, except that they sing in tamil :-)

This album is good though, something is certainly different.....Is KR really that complicated?? Is this a new style or what???
"Boonthi" tastes hot in "mixture" and the same tastes sweet in "Laddu". Two different styles of preparation??

Sridhar.,
Na. Muthukumar is the lyricst for 'Ragasiyamaay'., Yes, He has done a good work in all his 4 songs in the album !
UVII,
'Hoo anthiya oh hoo anthiya' is a pretty good album - mostly concentrating on melody, But as I couldn't understand the lyrics, I don't feel like writing a review :-) It will be halfbaked if I do so., :-)

guys some news
Similarly, Bharatiraaja, who had fallen out with Ilayaraja a few years ago and taken Rehman in his films (he had even introduced his son Manoj in Tajmahal, a film that had Rehman scoring music), is now said to have shifted allegiance to Karthik Raja.
is it true? oops the sou. http://www.tehelka.com/aspsite/rightstory.asp?id1=showbiz&id2=features&id3=STORIES&id4=20000623684&fname=ane030501rehman1.htm

Comeon
People make all kind of news.
The last pic he has done is with Deva I think Kadal Pookal. most of these north indian sites when it comes to South/Tamil news they are so IGNORAMAS
this includes Rediff.com and their lousy movie reporters.
I am just letting out my anger/frustration with these reporters who think they can write anything as long it is sensationalism

Have you listened to his 'rendE kAllulLLa' from vAnginAthan? He has used similar arranagement in that song. From the first hearing itself, I liked that song and, you could see KR's stamp all over the song.

Now that BR has been mentioned here....
It seems BR had plans of naming 16 vayathinilE as mayilu...Now he's gonna start a project with that name and the highlight of the movie is there are no dialogues in the second half. Relies completely on the BG Score...Wondering who's gonna score ??
IM(M 15 times)VVVVVVVVHO, nobody other than Raja can do justice to the movie.
