  For me Kizhakku cheemayile is the best. AR Rahman is the one who understands the situation very correctly & gives perfect tunes. All the songs in that album where pure Gramaththu melodies.
  
  And ARR's choice of singers, amazing. Tell me, who will use SPB (With different voice) for "Maanooththu mandhayile" ?

  ARR is wounderful musician forever his music will teach lesson to other MDs' how to make the good album. ARR changed me to listen to Hindi & Tamil Songs, I have all the collection of ARR and waiting for new releases.

  I think, no single song of ARR's can be taken out as the best song. The reasons beign, ARR has more than a few "Best" songs in different catogories. The question, actually could be reframed as "which arr's album is the best in each category"?? The next big question is what are these categories. And in my opinion, ARR has such a variety of songs that there can actually be categories of categories, which probably he himself is the best person to answer. I think, I would have huge list to fill up the answer.

  arr is a boon to the music world.we would have been stiil getting the same stuff,if arr would have not been there.arr has brought a revolvution.the biggest dream of my life is to meet hm and sing atleast one song (even one line would do)for the genius .wish me folks

  I think it's Thiruda Thiruda... A complete album IMO... All the songs are good.
  Roja is an excellent album too, but for a karumpulli: Rukumani Rukumani
  Pudiya Mugam: Ditto, but for Sambo Sambo
  
  Of late, I would rate Dil Se (not Uyire) as one of his best. Taal had nothing new to offer.
  
  
  But he has given at least one good song in some of his uninspired albums: For instance, "Malargale Malargale' from Love Birds
  'Uyirum Neeye' from pavitra
  'Thoda Thoda' from Indira
  'Bol Sajni' from Doli Sajaake Rakhna (this one finds itself in the Tamil 'Jodi')
  
  Minnale from May Madham is one of his best!!!

  11) Raasathi from Thiruda
  12) Theme music of Andhi Mandharai(a Bharathiraja Movie)

  14) Ishq Bina from Taal
  15) Kismat Se Tum from Pukar

  I feel Rahman's best so far has been Kandukonden kandukonden and may be Sangamam which only proves that he is improving and growing as a composer.Raja has had his time and now it is Rahman's time. People should get reconciled to this scenario.

  first mostly carnatic song - Ennavale (Kaadhalan)

  first commercial Hindi movie - Rangeela
  first punjabi-like song - Chaiyaa (Dil Se)
  first pure hindi-music movie - Taal
