Janaki the most versatie singer in South Indian FIlm Music has given her fans thousands of songs which are really good. Her voice has a unique and rich timbre which I really enjoy. lets take this opportunity to discuss songs by her in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu.Her songs sung under the tutelage of Ilayaraja, AR Rehman,Vijay Bhaskar, Rajan Nagendra, Shankar Ganesh, Upendra Kumar, T.G. Lingappa, MSV, KVM,VIdyasagar are really excellent. she done a great deal of Hindu devotional albums in Southern languages...lets discuss those. My favourite Chitra song so far remains "Kaartril Endhan Geetham". What a voice and that sharpness! So please, lets discuss her songs!! :-)

  I guess, when Ilayaraaja arrived, he decided to more than fill up this vacuum! And what wonders he created with Janaki's voice. IMO, with no other (female) singer, has he shown this kind of tuning (arguably).

  One of the greatest songs of SJ is "Radhaiyai peN paarkka kaNNan vandhaan nenjil ragasiyam parimaara mannan vandhaan" from Namma KuzhandaigaL. It was for V.Nirmala, exactly matching her voice. SJ got TN state award for this lovely song.

  she is the only singer in india who can give life to any song.
  
  she is not a playback singer.

  Smt. S. Janaki is the goddess of music. In my opinion, she is the most talented female singer in the whole world; not just in Southern India.

  Mr.Nair, It was by mistake, actually I was hearing to song by Chitra and Janakiamma(Kannada),, at that time..my cousin asked who the other vocalist.. So I said it is chitra.. SO, by mistake I wrote chitra instead of Janakiamma, and the song is by Janakiamaa from Jhonny

  Hi Guys, I have uploaded SJ's most beautiful Kannada song "SHIVA SHIVA ENNADA NAALIGE" in 'Coolgoose.com under kannada/classical. According to Janakiamma this is the most challenging and tongue twisting(most difficult song) song apart from "SINGARAVELANE DEVA". This song is based on two ragas.   Hear this "naalige" song in Radio Sri Lanka's Kannada program some time back.
  Good song. Of course Jaanaki had more inspired religious/classical performances than this, both in Telgu and Kannad.

  The kannada number u uploaded was very good. The delivery of lyrics is very good. but towards the end it seems like there are apaswaras in the "swaras" that she sings. But a toughie of course.
