Till the sixties, TeFM was quite influential in TFM. Ghantasala, Adhi Narayana Rao ( husband of Anjali Devi ), possibly C. Rajeswara Rao, TG Lingappa had a significant, if not big, role to play in TFM.
I would like to discuss this in detail.
I beleive TeFM goes back to the first Tamizh movie where the hero/heroine sang in Telugu!
I hv heard from people of my grandfathers generation ( Telugus ) rave about Chittoor Nagaiah. I never heard any song by him and I would like to know whether he has ever sang in Tamizh.
The first significant event as far as I am concerned are the Vijaya movies. Vijaya movies are a much revered name in Andhra and I hv seen movies like Maya Bazaar, Patala Bhairavi, Gundamma Katha ( Manidhan Maravillai in Tamizh ), Appu Chesi Pappu Koodu ( Kadan Vaangi Kalyanam? ), Missamma run to packed theaters in Hyderabad in the late eighties.
Ghantasalas Tamizh sounds very ugly. But he has done good work in Maya Bazar and Devadas.
C. Rajeswararao deserves lot of kudos for Missiamma.
Adhi Narayana Rao did the music for Aduttha Veettu Penn, I think. I know that he did the music for Manalane Mangayin Bhagyam. ( Thesulaavudhe, Azhaikkadhe, Parameswara Swami Jagadeeswara )
Pl. note that these songs are considered TeFM by Telugus. I agree with them as the movies were either simulatneously remade or remade later. And movies like Missamma, Maya Bazar etc. are not a tradition in TN as they are in Andhra espy Costal Andhra. In TN, that credit goes to, IMHO, Parasakhthi, Manohara, Nadodi Mannan, Enga Veettu Pillai, Ulagam Suttrum Vaaliban etc.
I realize that this may be a "specialized" topic which maynt interest many TFMers. But if I am going to get a meaningful discussion about this, it is in these pages and nowhere else. ;-)

Yes.. Ghantasala did spoil some of the songs
with his pronuntation.
The immediate effect of TeFM I recollect is
in the entrance of words like "premai", "kalavaram"
in TFM.
"kanne unakken kalavarame" -- ippadiyaa
kaathal duet paadarathu? : )
Certainly, TFM got a few superb songs from
the Telugu MD's you mentioned above, e.g
thaesulaavudhe, maya bazaar&missiamma songs.
We can discuss these.
Thanks for the line in your post.

Rajaraman:
I thought "kalavaram" was a proper Tamizh word!
Actually that was a literal translation of the Telugu lyric - or maybe vice versa.
"Choopula Kalisina Subha Velaa Enthukku Neeku Kalavaramu ?"
became
"Kannudan Kalandhidhum Subha Diname Kanne Unakken Kalavarame ?"

I didn't mean it's not a Tamil word. It is
too "violent" a word to be used in such
menmayaana kaathal situations.

Hi Guys,
Nice to see TeFM impacts on TFM. One correction RV: I think the MD is S. Rajeshwar Rao and not C. Rajeshwar Rao.
more later

TO guys with knowledge of TeFM :
How many films has Chakravarty scored music for ?
I read somewhere that he has scored music for more than 1000+ films. Is this true ?

Conclusion:
While TeFM contributed songs became hits in TFM, I dont think there was a long-lasting influence from TeFM. When you hear a song in TFM, you can typically figure out whether the song came from TeFM or not. While people like Ghantasala, Rajeswara Rao, Adhi Narayana Rao turned in good numbers, they didnt hv an impact in TFM as their forays in TFM was sporadic.
