Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

After reading all the postings, I think Shankar might be influenced by the movie Hot Bubblegum,
and may have convoluted it for nativity.
And finally Shanker can never be called good director.

And finally Shanker can never be called good director.........
this is wat i had been saying rgt frm his first movie. konjam sex + konjam athirchi + konjam paraparappu + konjam technology + neriya budget = shankars movie.
now that people hav come up with similarities betn TI, punnagai etc., and Boys i wud like to add it has some similarities with alaipayuthae too isnt it??? getting out of the house, getting married, oru misunderstanding, oru accident.

Mixed responses from people who had seen Boys.

Too early to say it is a flop/failure, but looks like it will not be Superhit compared to Shankar's previous movies, IMO.

There is this misconception that Shankar has given all hits so far. This is true only for tamil movies. His hindi 'nayak' was utter flop and he gave a big mukkadu thundu to his producer. Now from Boys, he is giving even a bigger mukkadu to Ratnam. This is his flop no. 2. So count down begins...

I have a question. In what scene did they degrade women?

Piratheepan!
Touching a mother while getting a child from her..is it not degrading women?
Every scene which shows woman's body or a vulgar scene like this promotes the thought that women are meant for that only.. Dont treat them as goddess or anjel. Just we have to treat them as normal human beings.

I'm not a crusader for female exhibitionism either... but then why did Chandni bar get such a brilliant response from women?

MRF,
Probably the potrayal of the woman protoganist was so realistic, it had a very good story line to go with it.

Earn money for sleaze is not new. But grrr.... why the heck did they use the 'azhagaana peyar' Harini for a character when a 'Mangaatha' would have served their purpose just as fine??

BOYS's dismal show at BO
Ok, it is official now. The much talked about film, BOYS, is losing its grounds. With its lewd dialogues in the first half of the film and nothing-great scenes other than good music, the film slowly losing collections.
The film is declared now as a ‘average film’ as per box-office fate is concerned. Female audiences are not coming to the theatres because of double entendres (one wonders whether Sujata has written the dialogues really?). Interestingly the Telugu version of the film is doing good business in urban centers in AP.
Top films this week (Sept 03, 2003)
1. KAKKA..KAKKA
2. KADHAL KONDIEN
3. BOYS
4. DIWAN
5. JAYAM
IMO the situation average will turn to flop after the initial craze is over. 25 days is the most i expect it to be in theatres

"Touching a mother while getting a child from her..is it not degrading women?"-when did this happen in the movie?
What they did do is touch aunties at the sari shop. That doesn't degrade the women but the boys in the movie. And as for the women showing their bodies off.Tell me this other then the songs were they not decently dresses. And the songs where they were in tight fitting outfits were 1)dating which is a resort where people swim hence swimming suits. Were not the boys in skimpy shorts?2) the last song where you have the dancing girls. They have those at the shows.
All and all I am not getting where you are going with this. The girl too was shown in good light. She refuses love she is not seeking nothing. She comes up in life. She works for her living when she runs away too. She doesn't try and live off of them she is equal she pulls her own weight. Also without her there is no BOYS group.
I know there are movies which degrade women, this I do not see as one of them. That's my opinion.

"The successful Selvaragavan (Kasturiraja)directed Thulluvatho Ilamai seems to be the film Shanker has liberally borrowed his ideas and situations from. Forgetting that Thulluvatho..., despite its embarrassing moments (for which it was awarded an A certificate), was a sensitively crafted film, with a realistic depiction of adolescent growing up, backed by a well thought out script.
Finally, Boys, Shanker’s latest, much hyped release, is the biggest con game in recent times. A great celluloid cheat! "

In Pedro Almodovar's Oscar winning critically acclaimed movie "Talk to Her" (Hable con Ella) the main lead rapes a coma patient on whom he had a crush before.
This is a very cruel and vulgar concept but the director was appreciated for the boldness and lack of restraint in filming such a theme. He also won the spl director's award at Oscars.
How the hell can movie maker express things openly when we all crucify him for opennness.
Agreed Boys is not watchable for Indian settings where some Goshtis go with akka, thambi, kozhandai, mama, chittapa, chitti and all the pattaaalam. But Shankar and Ravi K Chandran have been very very very clear from the beginning: This movie is for youngsters and teenagers!!!!!!
Indians are the biggest hypocrites in the whole world!!!!!! We shy awy from the mention of the word sex but we might be one of the most perverted people in the planet with the number of matter films we make every year!!! Like manivannan says we all watch V tv and M tv all night but say Aiyyayiyo when we wake up next day and see a girl wear shorts. What nonsense!

I agree with any review that says the story is zero!
In fact I am diappointed with Shankar on that grounds because he was someone who strongly emphasised the strong storyline trend in tamil cinema with his films.
But if people comment on the film saying Aiyaiyo cheee regarding the vulgarity, pls dont watch American Beauty, Forrest Gump, Titanic as these movies have very open and wild sex connotations!
It is hard to make films in India for these hypocrite morons!
No wonder we are laughed and mocked at all over the world when it comes to films!!
We will never win an accolade abroad if we do not change

There were enough indications about the movie in the trailer. Probably shankar included them in the trailer just because he wanted to tell people abt the movie. Bharath shaking the bed was there in the trailor even with the context. The trailors have been running for over 1 month. and Im sure people who went in the first week were aware of the trailors. So there is no point in going to the theatre 'thinking' something and getting shocked. what crap ? You know what was in store for sure. Probably the reviewer at Indian Express went with his mother and is now afraid that his mother is going to read his review.
Again, Im not trying to defend the film. Cos we need not. After all we are not the producers(Actually shankar and Sujatha would be justifying the movie on sunday at 8:30 pm in Vijay TV with Madhan). The point is such reviewers are cheating themselves. If you dont like the movie fine, but rubbishing it because you thought something and they gave u something else is as naive as it can get.
