I have put up a new webpage with rare hits collection of Maestro Ilayaraaja. I will try to put those songs that are either not commonly found nor available in other TFM pages. Please visit:

Raj:
I got you...what gives you the impression as regards to "Azhage Azhagu Devadai", is that the abrupt ending of the song...that is because as I said....it is not from a cassette...it is from a movie track....so when the clip comes close to 3:59, Madhavi says something like, "Enna Ragu....ellame paddiye..." something like that....So the song is over exactly at that clip (in the cassette it would have been more, I accept..may be another 5 seconds of verses).
Unless i get my own copy of this song, I am helpless on this issue. Raj--I am happy to note that the quality has come out awesome for this song. This song including all 7 BGM tracks of RP gave me a tough time in encoding as all of them had terrible amount of noise...you know....when you play the video tape...you get a "hssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh" then some dialogue and again "hsssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh" kind of thing....That really pulled my strains...
Finally it is good to note that the quality is acceptable to guys like you.

Rex: If you got this much quality from the video of the song, then HATS-OFF. Because it was TOO GOOD! Infact, the earlier download of this song I had done from another site was surely coded from the audio tape( becasue it had the complete song) and still, it sucks in comparison! This means only one thing- Your efforts are unmatcheable! You are right, it is only about 5 sec's at the end that is missing. I would gladly swap that for the quality of your site's version:))).
About EVK, your info has doused my enthu a lot. Too Bad! I hope, wish and pray that u succeed in getting a copy in Malaysia or India
And even Meettadha oru veenai was stupendous in quality. I think I had advised you earlier not to upload it because the Dinakaran version was quite good. But after hearing your version, I am glad you ignored my suggestion. Dinakaran is nowhere near the clarity of sound in your site! Great work , Rex. My hearty compliments, though they hardly suffice:))

MS; Just caught up with OR(old Responses) and found I had wronged u by crediting request oF PaDa vanthathor gaanam to MSK. hereby I correct myself and thank you for requesting that song:))
And MS, did u hear the 225th Upload...Oru Raagam tharaatha veenai. There seems to be a sound classical base..some variety of Kanada would be my uneducated guess. Can u clarify?

Raj:
In most of the sites what people do is that they just use some standard encoder and without even analyzing the dynamics and pattern of sound-graphs they just encode it as a RealAudio song. I do not do that. What I do is record the song patiently....see how the song looks like....right from pace to noise...then what I do is analyze the song in bits and pieces and hunt for particular portions where there is excessive noise. Now I have got so much experience in this field (again I am not an Elect.Engr but an Industrial Engineer) that after listenting to a song, I can say with all confidence the bitrate under which I am going to record this song and subsequently what bitrate I am going to use for RealAudio Encoding....
That is the secret behind the high-quality songs in my site. Patience...Persistence and a charm for what you do....this is the secret behind the success of this site and the audio files.

Prasanna: The trick is:
1. Open the Link file in notepad
2. You'll find something like
http://members.tripod.com/rexarul/***.rm or ***.ra
Copy and paste this in your browser. If it is IE, you'll now get the actual file downloaded to
C:\Winnt\Temporary Internet Files.
If it is netscape see C:\Temp

When I try to encode the songs through G2 producer, I find that the song memory is somehwere around 2 - 2.5 MB. I shtere any wasy to reduce the size of the file ?

MS:
I think you are trying to encode for the best rendition. But the problem is your audience is not restricted to LAN connection users.....Therefore you should try to concentrate 1000s of users who still have dial-up 28 Kbps modems.
The problem of targetting this class of audience is that though you get a smaller file, the audio quality is often very poor. That is why you need to do a lot of homework to give the best quality audio file within that bitrate (say 16 Kbps or 20.7 Kbps).
Choose this option -- 28 Kbps Users & MONO mode in RealProducer. Rule of thumb for size of file in 16 Kbps (Mono file) is 0.1 MB for each minute duration of the song clip.
I use the `stone-age' time RealAudio Encoder in most cases (for 16 Kbps files). Because though the old encoder is a pain to encode, its output of a 16 Kbps file is much much better than the 16 Kbps file of RealProducer. This is what I have realized after prolonged experimentation with these 2 encoders.
Am I clear?? I hope I have answered your question very much in detail.

Shankar:
I saw Kadhal kavithai and liked the BGm when prashant looks for Isha's name in koil. I will record the ones you mentioned.
Reg kalapani, the video cassette quality is very poor so unless i get a nice print i cannot record the BGM. Aathmaa is next on my list.
Will update soon on this.
Thanks.

As mentioned earlier, 1/2 stanza will be missing in this song as it is in the end of the cassette. About 95% of the song is present. Hope you would not mind. Sorry for the delay
