6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

'rs' does have a point there with that SUN TV bias thing. They even relegated Pithamagan for some time as they didn't get the screening rights!
But for MettiOli, SUNTV sucks!

Paran,
Meera soap kidaikkale le!
rs,
Yov..naan endra dept-nu sollikinu keeraen, neenga iththu pona Mech Dept-nu sollikinu keerengaley! CSE 4th le!
"naan iruntha varai college eppadi kodi katti paranthuchu"
kelvi pattirukkaen, munnellam college-la Independence Day nalla thadabudal-a kondaaduvaanga-nu! :-)
And as for SunTV being biased, that is pretty much a known fact. Not only SunTV, it is normal for any television channel or even magazine to act in such a manner if they have been denied something or keeping in mind the benefits (including politics) it would gain by putting the other movie on top. SunTV always puts Rajni movies on top. Would be interesting to see if it deals with Jagghubhai in the same manner.

Dear all,
Here is my frank opinion on AE!![it is going to be long!!]
I am a movie fan and not attach myself to any groups of actors, directors, nor MD's although I do have my preferences.
MR, ARR, Madhavan and Sooryaa are among my favorites and that's why I decided to see this movie only in the big screen to get the full effect of it. My town is a small one in the US Tamil City map and as such we get only movies rarely here and I don't miss a single one! And, that's the reason why my comments are so late!!
OK, now on to the movie!
MR::
He is a genius and has a desire to give decent movies and this movie is a decent one. He had his own vision of the movie presentation and noone can question him for that. But, he has failed big time in presenting this movie, which has a very good message, to reach the mas, again mainly due to his outrageous audocity that people wil like whatever he presents. The time he took to come back to thew first scene,was too long and I almost forgot the Madhavan story by the time the Siddhartha story ended!! He could have zig-zagged while retaining the initial interest on a sustained basis. We see Sooryaa getiing shot in the very first scene and he is taken to the hospital only after the interval! If MR thought that the audience were interested in the stories of the 3, then he is sadly mistaken. Then and there, the film lost all the interest for the mass and flopped, i think.

He was technically awesome and to see all these excellence going waste in the improper story-telling[again, that is his wish] was a mistake, in my opinion.
Madhavan::
By far, the best actor in the movie! he made his presence felt whether it was his flomboyance, or his timidity, he did the best. He really got into the character as envisaged by the director and it was a pity to see that after his character was well etched into the minds of the audience, he vanished to give room for the other characters to show of themselves and when he did come back, it was too late! I blame the director for this mishap.
Sooryaa::
He tried to do his best but fell short. He reminded me for the most part of Kamal in Indian[the son role, or Guna] and he somehow was not at ease in the presence of Madhavan[may be he knew M was stealing the show, not because of his fault but becuase of the characterization]. I wasn't impressed with his performance. He didn't sound too convincing.

Siddahrth::
He was a misfit. Prashanth would have bben the perfect choice. I dont know how MR settled on him. Prashanth would have been more convincing as running mate in the by-election yarn.
The 3 heroines::
Meera was outstanding with her expressions, given the short scope her role got in the whole male-dominated movie theme. Especially, in the 'saNdaikkOzhi' song. Her lip movements truly brought out the feelings with which the song was written and sung by the singer. Thje expression and the sudden turning of the head when her B-in-law suddenly stripped his dhothi to say[show] that he is not hiding her husband was superb!! Hats off to her! I saw glimpses of her talents which she showed in her two Malayalam movies for which she got awards.
Soorya's 'jOdi' carried the role with the dialogs which were interesting. Otherwise, any body could have fitted that role'
Thrisha was a total waste and never fitted with the movie. it appeared that character was a thrust one just to give S a companion! Moreover, she was too 'BIG' for Siddharth and esspecially her loose hair syle[avuththu vitta thalai mudi] showed her to be too old for S in close-ups. She had no role and I can easily forget her in this movie. p.s. Moreover, there was an additional dialog by S " indha moonjiyai vechchuk kittu thaan nee hit aagirE"![or, something to that effect!]

BR::
He was OK for a villain role and didn't do anything special. That itself is credit for the first-timer.
Sujataha::
He has penned some crispy dialogs and showed his favoritism for USA. Some of the punch dialogs were enjoyable but he killed me big-time when he wrote the following for Bharathi raaja, " andha pasangalai theeththu kattaNum. aaNi vErai asaichchaa maram thaanaa vizhundhudum". which was a great flaw as Sooryaa is the 'aaNi vEr' for the movement and the other three of his frieds were only the side 'vEr'. Big let-down!
And, finally, the much awaited ARR::
I had already heard the songs[thanks to SUN TV] but was disappointed to note that in the movie, at least, the songs were drowned with the orchestration and couldn't hear any song [the lyrics, I mean] clearly exept for 'saNdaikkOzhi'.
The song between sooryaa and his lover just before the interval, right from the starting beats, reminded me of the old MSV classic, 'muththuchippi mella mella thiRandhu varum, muththam onRu saththam inRi piRandhu varum' song. May be some body else can comment on this. 'yaakkai thiri' also sounded similar to 'yaarO, yaarOdi onnOda purushan' I was not enchanted by the music nor the BGM which failed to tell us, warn us, prepare us nor surprise us of the happenings. Frankly, I am dissappointed.

And, now, about the whole movie experience,::
I had to really try hard not to fall asleep after the interval. The movie lacked punch after the intermission and was not at all convincing. The message MR wanted to convey didn't register well with the mass and quite a few people were making joking remarks on the same line....'Sooryaa kooda innum moonu peru jeyichchaangale; yEn avanga ellaam sooryaa kooda okkaralai' Sooryaa yenna aaLum katchiyaa, yedhi katchiyaa yillai independentaa, moonaavadhu varisaiyila ukkandhu irukkaarE'... like that.
Nobody bought the other 3 younger looking people winning an election[go back to see my comments on prashanth!!]
On the whole, seeing a nice theme getting butchere in the hands of a talented director is not excusable and no wonder this movie didn't do well with the general mass.
Finally, a very dissappointing movie experience. Mind you, I went with an open mind and not with any expectations nor any negative feelings.
And, that's all... folks. Thanks for reading this long mail patiently!!
BTW, indha padaththilaiyE yenakku pidichcha character, andha 'kaattaadha' sivakasi maappillai from Sivakasi thaan!!! What a gentleman! He let Thrisha[!!] go after she landed in Sivakasi to spend her life with pattasu and matchboxes!!!::)
