  It is true that Maragadhamani changed his name to MM Kreem in Hindi to cater to that audience. Ironically, though, the name Maragadhamani itself may have been *assumed* to cater to the TFM audience. I saw this musician on the Sa Re Ga Ma show and he "looked" telugu. I am not sure but he is probably Keeravani in telugu. So much for the depreciative tone concerning the northie tastes!
  
  There is a really lovely and haunting song in Jism composed by this good composer. He sang it during the show and did a very good job too. Impresive.

  MM Kreem's best to date is Zakhm...Excellent composition..he used some of IR tunes ...in that National Award Winning movie..

  Though I used to love a number of songs of MSV / KVM & others before the arrival of IR, a couple of important changes happened in my approach to those same songs:
  
  a) Started asking who's the MD for this song...(instead of whether it is a Shivaji or MGR song)
  b) Started noting and appreciating the orchestration (the best example is the prelude to `rAjAvin pArvai rAniyin pakkam'...thanks to iLayarAjAvin pArvai to TFM:-))

  Also I want a big favor from u at your leisure time, can u start a " wiki" page for categorizing the genre of IR songs ( once we have the excel spread sheet database from hopefully Eden) so each of us can modify the appropriate genre of different songs, for the benefit of making play lists with different genre thro'ID3 tags for tagging our own personal collections of IR songs.

  The IR's 1000 stars excel sheet had gone with the computer I had in India:-( (Due to my rush-start to U.S. I gave it to a relative last year and do not have any of those files with me now)

  Good to see u back, take your time. You are awesome, I was totally blown away by the " wiki" page concept, indeed a power for everyone.
  The song Data base for IR's songs I am more interested because, eventually my belief is that media entertainment ( such as song listening) is going to be taken over by streaming media from stored media files, replacing the physical media ( such as CDs and MP3 CDs) in the next few years and probably in the next decade in India. So having a database with the best/appropriate ID3 tags for as many IR songs as possible will help in creating many playlists to listen to his songs falling in a variety of genre, to suite the mood, time, age etc...etc..

  REGARDING IR's SPEECH IN NEW YORK :
  
  I am one of the die-hard fans of IR. But still I have some concerns in some parts of his recent speech in NY. I hope there are other guys who think alike on this.
  
  IR is said to be a very proud fellow and a person of head weight. Pity is that he seems to prove that again and again.
  
  During his speech he says "Music elevates even ordinary words when it is made to a song". He is right to a great extent. But the example he gives is "Sundari kannaal oru seithi..". Is it that Vaali wrote the lyrics first and then IR elevated this to a song..? First IR gives the tune and then the poet puts the words..so how can he simply say this..? What surprise is there in poets parting ways with IR..?
  
  Also, He says that "Singers spoil the song..Musicians spoil their part..there are people to spoil the output..but still you enjoy the songs..thats a wonder". So when everybody spoils his music, then why not IR himself play all instruments and sing all the songs himself..?   There are many instances in which singers messed up beautiful songs. Yet those songs became popular, thanks to the haunting tunes.
  eg: Swarnalatha's song 'sollividu velli nilave..' (pardon my tamil) Excellent tune, horrible vocals.
