MD's singing for other MD's

  It's not common for a music director to sing for other music
  directors. (I mean, if you ignore "MD's" like SPB, etc. Also
  not considering singing within the family, e.g gangei amaran,
  ilayaraja, karthik raja, yuvan shankar raja, etc.)
  But there are instances in which this has happened.
  A recent one is,
  
  Oh pyaari paani poori(Athithyan) - Poove unakkaaga(S.A. Rajkumar)

  MSV has sung a song (I am unable to remember the
  lines) for V.Kumar in Velli Vizhaa. GK Venkatesh
  has sung a version of "Vandha naal mudhal ..."
  in Paava Mannippu for VR. ML Srikanth has hummed in
  U.Ulle Vaa's "kaadhal kaadhal endru pEsa" for
  MSV. ChandraBose has sung for MSV, I am sure.

  velli vizha pattu sung my MSV on VKumar's music is
  "Unakkenna kuraichal nee oru rAja".
  
  ChandraBose's song on MSV's music is:
  from Aru pushpangal "Endi muththamma Ethu punnagai"
  
  MSV sang for IR along with BalaMuralai & Seerkazi
  in "jananai janani jagam ni" movie.
  
  Sankar(Ganesh) sang in "uravinil fifty fifty"
  for MSV from Kalatta KalyAnam (??).
  
  AMRaaja sang many songs for other MDs.
  
  another GKVenki song is "oru sonthamum illaE oru

  Don't forget SPB singing for everybody !
  Somehow SPB doesn't seem to quality as a MD. SJ also has been a MD but only in Telugu.

  Ganesh (of Shankar-Ganesh) has sung for many other
  MDs. He sang for T Rajendar in "pookalai thaan parikaandenga"
  (Title song). Recently he sang for Gangai Amaran I think.
  
  Gangai Amaran sang for Deva! (I think in Bharathi Kanamma)
  
  MSV sang for Illayaraja recently in the "Yatramozhi" (Malayalam).

  Stop!! Stop!! Ganesh did not sing 'pookkaLaiththaan paRikkaadheenga'!! vaai mattum thaan asaichchaar. It was sung by Malasyia Vasudevan. Incidentally, I remember M.Vasu composing music for a few movies. Cannot recollect them off hand.
  
  MSV sang a song in 'namma ooru nalla ooru' (another among the 'ooru' series for graama rajan) for Raja. I forgot the lyrics of the song.

  May I know which song did Ganesh sing? I love to hear more and more IR's songs. In "Vanna Vanna Pookal" I like the song "Kannamma kadhal enum kavidhai solladi" .

  The song was 'pangkunikkappuRam siththiraiyE'. It was sung by Chitra. Ganesh just sang something like 'jaangu chakku' ( raakkammaa - thaLapathi). It went like this

  jilimili jilimili jilimili

  Pags: I checked the credits. They are by Ganesh.
  Another general doubt: Do we count Ganghei Amaren singing for IR?
  He has sung a song for dEva: raasaa iLaya raasaa. I cannot rem. the name of the movie, but it was much before Bharathi kannamma. It also had some famous songs: "koovura kuyilu sEvala paarththu padikkuthu paattu; thaamirabarani aaru/athu tharayil nadakkum thEru". dEva rasigarE (bones) umakku ngyabagam irukkA?
  P.S. If anyone is wondering whether something went wrong with my key board, this is the way GA actually spells his name. :-)

  Ravi, the movie you are mentioning is 'sOlaiyammaa'. It was released some time in 1994. The songs you mentioned are very melodious. But I did not know that GA has sung a song in that movie.

  1. siru ponmani asayum - kallukul eeram
  2. Macchanai vacchukkadi - movie ? (pandiyan,

  Ravy : siRu ponmani was sung by IR himself. The lyrics for that song was by GA, though.

  No. indha maan was sung by IR himself. Though he thiNarufies a bit in 'annamE..aaa.aa', it is an OK song.
  
  GA has sung bits and pieces in a few songs.

  In the last two songs, GA has sung only a bit, some prelude sort of thing. The main song is by KJJ and Dr.Kalyaan respectively for these last two songs you mentioned. Am I correct?

  Yes. GA sings only the prelude in all these songs. The only correction is: It was not Dr.Kalyan who sang pUvaadaik kaatru. It was Krishnachandar. Dr. Kalyan sang Julie I love you in kiLinjalgaL - vizigaL mEdaiyaam.

  GA has sung one song for manoj-gyan in enaindha kaigal.i don't remember the song.
  IR has sung one song for shankar-ganesh in "auto raja".the song is "sandhathil paadadha kavidai..."
  (it's also said that it was composed by IR for a malayalam movie starring amol palekar)

  does anyone have the mp3 or .ra files for solaiamma songs "koovura kyilu" & "thamara barani aaru" ?
  also does anyone have "adhikaalai subavelai" from naptu and "adhikaalai katrae" from thalaivasal ? an extensive search of almost all sites has resulted only in dead links and not the songs.
  it would be very great if someone can give me the songs..
