Thx for taking the time. Interesting to read about how ARR views himself, his music and the rest of the industry.

Coming to the article. maththathellam OK. But it is hard to beleive that the first word spoken by a child is 'allah'. 'alvaa' kudukkavENdiyathu thaan. athukkaaga 'allaah'vaiyE 'alvaa'vaak kuduththaa eppadi?

The article was OK. But I wonder why ARR says that he takes 6 months to compose a song?!! He is also composing music for more and more hindi films than tamil. May be he is doing that to get International acclaim. And I also fear that he might totally remove himself from TFM like so many other famous people did in GollyWood(Kodambakkam).

Aravind:
I think you would have read the article "Rider on the storm..". ARR says that he wanted to compose music for Mira Nair but he didn't do it in the film "Kama Sutra" because he never wanted to. And he also says that he is going to compose music for her next film. I think Mira Nair's movies are quite different from the rest of the films in our Film Industry and her movies have been recognised at the International level. I think ARR wants to get International attention by doing such films. I personally feel that more hindi (rather North Indian films) have been recognized worldwide and I feel that ARR is shifting himself to Hindi filmdom to make his entry easier into the International arena. What do you think?
NOV:
In fact, I love songs from Roja and Pudhiya Mugam and when they were released I really was lost and had forgotten IR. But I expected the same output from ARR in the rest of the albums but was disappointed to see that were not as soul-stirring and evergreen as the other two. Even now I like some of his songs but not all. And sometimes his music seems to be repetitive. But in my heart, I cannot replace IR for another MD because I listen to IR's songs everyday as I do my daily prayer. And NOV, I said that I fear because ARR is the only MD who is giving good music in the recent TFM(forget IR he is anyway as good as gone out of TFM). Let us hope that even if ARR leaves TFM, KR or someone who is talented enough might give us good music.

I am still very confused. One assumption I have to make is 'International Fame' = Fame in Western countries. Because if you consider Singapore, Malasyia etc, many people are known here and even Suresh Peters would say that he an 'Internationally' renowned musician.
Nair has made a couple of other movies before KS and LV/LS have been the MDs. But none of them had any connection to the Hindi Film World. Correct me if I am wrong.
Moreover LS was an 'International' artiste even before he did movies.
There are 100s and 1000s of artistes in Hindi. How many of them have the International Fame? Somehow this topic (Entering Hindi cinema to become internationally famous) seems to be very vague to me.

Pakkiri - There is a saying in Malay that goes: Lembu punya susu, sapi dapat nama. Translated it means, The cow gives the milk, the ghee gets the name.
