Deepavali - The Festival of Lights - is around the corner, to be exact, just a week away. Being one of the most important festivals of Hindus throughout the the world, it's the season to be jolly and happy. I am reviving this thread to dedicate Deepavali songs to our fellow-posters. Use your creativity as much as you want! But try to limit the songs to only those which has the Deepavali flavour in them.

There is this old song, that immediately rekindles fond memories of Deepavali, for me. Let me wish all those posting in this forum and their families, loved ones, neighbours, colleagues, cronies (!), etc.

NOV and Others reading this.
there is an interesting fact which comes to my mind. The song
unnai kandu naan aada enai kandu nee ada ullasam pongum inba deepavali from the movie Kalyana parisu was always the first song to be played on the deepavali day, by vividh barathy's Regional Transmission in AIR(the morning 8:30 programme) ever since it started. This was not missed even once till Nayakan got released. Yes Naan chirucha deepavali broke this long run, though it is not a Deepavali song. Probably when we just listen to the audio it gives the feeling of deepavli festival. :))
well these other songs come to my mind.
Deepangal aaiyiram devigal yetrum deepavali
mangala mangayar vaazhthukkal paadum deepavali
Veetai vittu aaiyiram mile thalli irukkum engalai pondrorgalai, ondru kooti inaya vaithu, intha arumayaana sevai purium TFM'in anaithu urupinargalukkum mattrum intha Pakkangalil miga thiramaiudan vathittu kalanthukollum anaithu anbargalukkum enathu ulam kanintha deepavali nall vaazhthukkal.

Hi Everybody !:
This background (star.gif) is really nice ! Though Deepavali is always associated with bursting fire-crackers, I stopped using them a few years back. But this period of the year always reminds me of my childhood when myself, my elder brother and my younger brother used to split up the crackers and arrange them in our shelves a full fortnight before Deepavali ! It was almost like preparing for war !
The early morning oil baths and our new clothes ! Plenty of sweets ! In fact looking back, I now feel that the night before Deepavali was more exciting than the actual event !
I miss the Patti Manrams, S.V.Sekhar's plays (that come on T.V for every major festival !) and Deepavali release Oliyum Oliyum.
This happens to be the Thala Deepavali for myself and my wife...and both of us are very sorry that we are not able to spend it with our families - it's also the first time we are away from our families for any major function as we got married only in April this year. However the loneliness is more than offset by the umpteen dozen friends I have here at newtfmpage.COM ! A very special and heartfelt thanks to Ravi, Rajaraman and Co. !!! and a VERY, VERY HAPPY DEEPAVALI to all DFers !
Surprisingly there seem to be very few Deepavali songs in TFM ! Is it because it is largely considered a North Indian festival ? Or is it because Karthigai is a bigger occasion here ? Either way, here's another Karthigai song - "Malai Kovil Vaasalil Kathigai Deepam Minnudhae !" :-))))
P.S: Isn't "Vaa Vaa Vasanthame" also a Deepavali/Karthigai song?

Ellorukkum en iniya Deepavali Nalvazthhukkal.
I wish to greet all the "Indian" internet users, a very happy Deepavali. This is the first time , i will be away from home/India, for Deepavali. I still cannot imagine how badly i am going to miss home during that time.
Well, the name Deepavali itself, brings with it memories of joy and happiness; of sharing and tasting sweets from different homes; of bursting crackers along with all the friends; of getting busy with the "Deepavali Special" TV programmes on Sun TV; of the bustling crowd of shoppers in Mylapore and Luz; well the list goes on and on.
I am sure i am going to miss all this.Anyway, i am sure i am not alone, and the number is steadily increasing.
Engirunthalum Vaazhga.
Vaazhga Tamizh.

Dear TFM lovers,
A very happy deepavali from Anush. I hope the page gets flooded with reviews of all the songs that get released on Deepavali. Geetha, a correction.."Deepangal Pesum.." is from Devathai and not from Devaragam. Listen to more and more tamil songs and cheers to all of you!
