  Katthiruppan Kamalak Kannan in Utthama Putthiran
  
  Chinnanjiru Kiliye in Manamagal. I think Ellam Inba Mayam is also in Manamagal, but I am not 100 % sure.

  I was surprised to discover MLV has sung so many film songs and popular ones at that not just classical songs. Here is my list (all solos) :
  
  1. Oh ayya sami - Or iravu - This is probably yesteryears equivalent of SriVidya's sandhai bajaaru maama konjam ushaaru. The lyrics go : 'Oh ayya saami aaoji sami; ayya raayya vaayya you come ayya' - use of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English !
  2. kuyile unakku ananthakodi namaskaaram - manithan
  3. konjum puraave - thAi uLLam. Is the tune of this song lifted from a Hindi tune ? Anyway a great song !
  4. unnai eNNum - vairamAlai
  5. kaNNin maNiye - kaNNin maNigal
  6. inba veeNaiyai - vairamAlai
  7. ahahaha vAzhvinilE - manthirikumAri
  8. kAdhal pali - manthirikumAri

  songs of MLV. BTW, How did you unearth these songs?
  
  "Konjum puraave" is a lift from "Tandi hanvaayen"
  of Lata.
  
  Did you know that the traditional Oothukkaadi song
  "thaaye yasodha" has been tuned to a ragamalika
  (rather than Thodi) in Kula deivam?
  
  One more song from Madhurai veeran:
  kalayodu kalanthathu unmai
  
  You r right RV. "ellaam inbamayam" is from

  'Inge Iruppadaa Ange Varuvada'
  
  M.N.Rajam sings this song in the movie - I dont know the name of the movie. But this is a very good song.What abt
  'Aadal Kaaneero' from Madurai Veeran? Isnt that by MLV also?

  Kaatthiruppan Kamalak Kannan is by Leela and not MLV ? Hmm, I somehow had the mistaken impression.
  
  
  Ayya Sami is copied from one of my favorite Hindi songs "Gore Gore Oh Banke Chore" Latha and Shamshad Begum, I think. The lyrics are far better in Hindi.

  Sorry abt 'aadal kaaneero' posting. I didnt notice the entry in the list posted earlier. there's another song in IrumbuThirai (I think) - 'Enna Seithaalum Enthan Thunai Neeye'. Is this also by MLV?

  What about the ragas of the famous film songs of MLV? It is worth knowing from the view point that MLV was one of the greatest (carnatic) classical singers.(she is, i hear, in particular,credited for popularizing Purandara Dasa's compositions)
  
  some film songs for which i know the raga (i think i am correct) are:
  
  1. Varugiraal unnai thaedi - Atana (great song)
  
  2. Aadaadha manamum undo - Lathangi
  
  3. Aadum arul jothi - kalyani
  
  4. Ellam inba mayam - Simhendra madyamam?
  
  Also is "konjum puraavae" based on Saranga? I think it must be some janyam of kalyani.

  Dear Kanthi, "Enna Seithalum Enthan Thunai Neeye in irumbu thirai (Music composed by S. V.Vengatraman) is by Soolamangalam Rajaletchumi( or Jayaletchumi)but not by MLV.
  
  Dear RV, Aya samy is from hindi movie called Samadhi featuring Burmese dance scene with Ashok Kumar as hero.
  
  Varugiral Ummai thedi in Thanga pathumai, Vizhi mele vilayadum kalaickelvame in Karpukarasi and Maithunare Inimele in mamiyar mechiya marumagal and Ellam inbamayam in Marumagal have beenjointly
  sung by MLV and P.Leela
  The only song MLV sang with TMS is Adatha Manamum Undo in Mannathi Mannan. Similarly the only song she sang with P.B. sreenivas is Kaniyo Pago Katkando in Karpukarasi.
  By any standard she is a great singer.Its a great loss for the Tamil Music-both carnatic and light.

  The first song in Maya Bazaar is Choopula Kalisina Suba Vela which is a duet between Ghantasala and somebody else, definitely not MLV.

  Sudha Raghunathan is a disciple of MLV and she is the one in the present generation who,while singing, reminds us of the great MLV.However, I do not mean that Sudha is immitating the style of MLV. Sudha has her own unique and beautiful style of singing.
  Does any body know whether Sreevidya (MLV's daughter) who has a successful acting career has tried her talents in singing at any time ?

  RV: You may be watching an incomplete version of Maya Bazaar. The version I have begins with a birthday celebration for Baby Sachchu (can you imagine how old the movie must be:-), i.e., Vatsala. There is a song by MLV & P Leela with chorus introducing Revathi, Balaraman, Rukmini, Krishna, Subhadra and the young Abhimanyu as they bless her.
  
  The next song is a P Leela? w/ chorus showing Vatsala growing up (Baby Sachu becomes Savitri). bambaramaai aadalam...aadum azhagiya bambaramE...
  
  The 3rd song is when Vatsala opens the magic box Krishna gives her - nee thaanaa enai azhaithathu.
  
  And the 4th is the one you mention. I've had to watch the darn movie twice in the recent months because my sister wanted me to convert it so she could watch it. It's crystal clear therefore:-)

  Kutty: Yes Sreevidya did sing in amaran. The song had a decent rhythm (lousy lyrics). She's also sung one of MLV's film songs in a HMV album with computerized orchestration.

  There are more MLV songs in Bhaktha Raavana and Parthiban Kanavu (anthi mayanguthadi, munnam avan irukkum naamam kEttaaL, and another sung when Sivakami dances in the streets of Vathapi). I think kaaNi nilam vEndum was a duet by MLV and CSJ. They also sang a duet in Kaaveri/vadivukku vaLaikaappu which begins manjaL veiyil...
