Manmadhan by Yuvan

Guys,

Manmadhan, the album is coming this month. I have seen couple of previews of this movie, I was impressed with the backgound music. I hope the songs will be Mounam Pesiyathe-like.

  BLAZEE HAS SUNG FOR YUVAN in manmathan, its a rap song very very similar to an ar song... yuvan says that he loves ar music frankly, he says boys is his one of best. and he was blown out when i played ae jana song in my car.

  Got hold of the album and listened to it just once. There are six songs (5 new ones and one remix).
  
  1. thathai thathai - simbu, clinton, vasundaradas, blaaze - vaale
  2. manmadhane - sadana sargam - snehan
  3. oh mahirae - Anushika from vivi girls - pa. vijay
  4. vanamunna - shankar mahadeven, sreeram - naa. muthukmar
  5. enn aasai mythiliye - simbu, suchitra - pa.vijay (remix from mythily ennai kadhali)
  6. kadhal valathein - kk - naa. muthumkar
  
  2 melodies, 2 dappakunthus and 2 club mix kinda songs. Words have been killed by anushika and sadana. The album sounds ok but definitely not in the league of 7grc. This is what i feel from the first hearing.

  Thathai thathai - Blaaze has done rap parts coming in the beginning, first interlude and at the end. Simbu starts off the pallavi and Clinton joins. The rock guitar was good. Vasundaradas and Clinton carry the charanam parts. The new sounds and electronica effect coming in the charanams sound cool. The song sustains the needed pace for a dance number and overall a fast paced good track.
  
  Manahan -- A melodious song. The song starts with a string of violins and accompanied by piano.. Sadhana has done a nice job in the charanams. Somehow her voice looked more flat in pallavi. The twist in tune when \'eththanai aangal kadanthu vanthen\' line comes is catchy and very good. The same style is repeated after the first charanam too, very good song..
  
  Oh Mahirae- Anushika from VIVA girls has sung this song. Her voice sounds like she is always in mubbu(May be she is?). Very difficult to understand what she actually sings except of course ABC, SEX, and SEX is a fire station, doing you revolution. NagaS will have tons of complaints for using her after he listens to it :) But Yuvan has tried trance, DJ style orchestration. Most people will complain this song noisy.. The \'Oh mahirae\' chorus is catchy. And if you are into trance, you might like it. I liked it after couple of listenings.
  
  Vanamunna - Dappagunthu song by Shankar and Sreeram, lyrics by Naa.Muthukumar. The lyrics are ok, the pallavi starts off with beats of \'nattu sarakku\' from PKS. But this song is better than PKS song. \'vambunnu vantha nee veeram kattu da\' line has catchy tune. Nadaswaram was played with melams backing up in the first interlude. The second interlude has IR\'s style of male and female chorus, it was done nicely. The chorus and Nadaswaram join at the end to complete the song. Nowadays each and every movie has this type of song, not sure how well this will be received. But overall a fun song.
  
  Enn aasai mythiliye - I don\'t know who sang the original song but seems like a perfect song for Dappanguthu from TR\'s mythili ennai kathali. It was remixed and Snehan has penned the lyrics. Fast paced Trumpets, guitars and beats sustain the tempo through out the song. TR\'s favourite beats (?) have been kept in the beginning (with pallavi) and the second interlude. There is this long dappanguthu beats coming at the end, it would have been avoided.
  
  Kathal vathein -- This song reminds me of poi solla from April mathathil. I think this has the same beats but has more bass. Naa.Muthukumar has tried to write in colloquial Tamil. When I listened first time, I thought the beginning lines are irritating because of KK\'s voice. I liked it after a few listenings. He sounds much better in charanams. First interlude has nice flute, violin score, and male chorus that give a rich feeling. After the first charanam, the fade out is coming which is good too. Also at the end, he tried to do something like \'Music of joy\' from 7grc, yuvan should have avoided that. A nice melody.
  
  Overall a good album, it will take couple of listenings to like it. I hope RDRajasekar has done a good job picturizing these songs. Definitely this is not 7grc stuff but a fun album targeted at the young people.
