i found the full version of a rose in the wind on kazaa and boy listen to it and sure you cannot say ysr was just inspired by the song...its a rip off. the nenjodu kalandu venumna you can say he was inspired..But he has done a decent job...much better than what ppl like SIRPI , DEVA do when they get inspired...

inge parappa kathaiye..
when ARR have some resemblences (copied)...they blame everything on ARR....but when YSR did it...the director became scapegoat....wow...
what-a-logic...to look at man

Paran,
Whoever does copying/inspiration stuff is not doing something proper.I support U fully in that. And as far as the "A Rose in the wind" is concerned, the starting is surely an exact DITTO in YSR's song. But the tune for the song remains very original for the rest of the song.

Listened to YSR's Bala. Good work!!!
Poo poovai, theendi, bailamore, vanathupoochi are catchy stuff.YSR knows the pulse of the youth.

Paran,
The fact the people are comparing YSR shows that he has good talent. There may be some copies, but he has inherent talents too.
When ARR is doing a copy, people do come on him completely because he has earned no. 1 position and he should do things consistent to that. When YSR raises to that positon(if at all he rises), the same will be expected out of him.
ARR takes more time, money and people definitely want a original stuff.
At the same time I feel YSR should be patient and try to the number of movies within his capacity to give good qualtiy.
Bulk number of movies and quality so far is proven by only IR.(Old IR)

Anbe SIvam ,
I don't agree that it is the old IR who can continous hits ..a lot depends on the directors ...In my opnion in recent times IR sir has delivered very good melodies ( Ramana ,SMK ,Telugu movie ,Julie Ganapathy ,Manasellam)...They may not be great hits but defintely good!!!

'Unnai thedi vennila', 'Enna solli paaduvado' from EMV, 'Gundu malli', 'Kaatule','Yedo ennai' from SMK, 'Vaanaville','Vennilavin' from Ramana , 'Appadi pakruthuna' from Ivan, 'Yenaku piditha paadal' from JG are as good as vintage IR numbers of 80's.
- From: Maverick (@ 12.20.58.68)
on: Tue Mar 25 16:30:29 EST 2003
I disagree. They might be good numbers but considering them on par with his vintage 80 hits is degrading his 80s hits. Cmon guys.. on any day I would prefer listening to his 80s hits when compared to his SMK, Ramana, JG numbers.

I did like those songs 'mythila' pointed out but dont know why something is missing there.... i start to hate it soon.
So i too think it shouldnt be compared with 80's Ilas hits.

OK.. why are we digressing ? Coming back to YSR's latest Winner.. I should say I am impressed with it.
1. Engirunthaai - HR. A typical YSR-HR combo which we are seeing more often now. YSR seems to have a developed a liking for HR's voice and reserves a soft romantic solo/duet for him. Very Good song this.
2. Eye - Devan. This one shows YSR rules the roost win TFM when it comes to western pop / R&B. could be a copy / inspiration (i am waiting if someone comes up with the discovery). But he is trying to re-invent himself when it comes to western pop. Though Devan makes it to sound like the Yuktha Mookhey...song from PUV, the music here is damn good. Especially the R&B interludes. No doubt these are the kind of songs YSR feels most comfortable doing.
3.Kozhi Kokkara - Udit & Prashanthi
Starts off with a great melody and transforms with a dappanguthu folk number best suited for Udit (if at all anything suits him in TFM) . Has got a Hindi-ish tinge to it. Nice foot tapping number for the front benchers. Though Udit's Thamizh is like usual, these are the songs in which those things doesnt matter much.
4. Mathapoo - Tippu, Sri Ranjani, Premji
Another fast paced folk based number. Not sure if you can call this folk. Sri Ranjani singing it and the male chorus singing together throughout. This one would pass off as a decent one. Nothing great to talk about, though not a bad one. Again this one too got a Hindi-ish touch to it.
5. Mudhal Murai - Mahalaxmi & Srinivas
This is the one that I suspect the most that YSR could be inspired from somewhere because the tune sounds very familiar. Not the entire song but the inital 'oh oh...' humming. Nice foot tapping song with rhythmic beats.
6. Endhanuyir - Udith Narayan. How could he possibly give such a beautiful song to UN whose tamizh takes away the soul of the song. If someone else had rendered it, it would have been a great song. think of someone singing it and you would know what a good song it could have been !!!!
But, a good album overall !!!

Maverick,
The "Mudhal Murai" has beats that r excatly similar to the song "Thulli Thulli kuthikuthu" from the movie "Unnakkaka Ellam Unnakkaka" by YSR.

Mumbai Ramki,
I only compare him to his old performance. Ofcourse he gives some good songs now also. But the fact is he is also giving lots of junks and rehashs.
It depends on directors. But if he pick up fight with all directors, then where he will get good platform for challenging projects.
I am surprised still he could create good directors and get decent projects.
I would say 2002 was good for IR compared to 2001.

Winner - This album is a real winner. Songs are excellently composed for the mood of tamil people, who now-a-days like fast numbers. Good work by YSR. I think he is the real winner who beats ARR, VS and of course his father IR in all respects ( at present)

Recent IR melodies vs 80s - the current ones are orchestrated with much more finesse ..older ones are more 'impromptu' (comparatively). But the old ones have good lyrics and a 'relaxed'/'laid back' feeling to them, which makes it more listenable even now.
Re: rose in the wind..this sounds more than an inspiration to me. Surely, nenjodu, was a good inspiration, nothing wrong in doing something like that. Winner is a mockery of our language.
And again nothing wrong in taking up too much work. Composing, is not physical work, it requires only mental enery..and like his dad probaly he has infinite amount of it. YSR is sticking to particular genre(s) and working on them. His tunes, and the way singers are used, show he has his own style, originality.
(YSR's friends here will surely caution him about this 'Rose in the wind' as not necessarily a rose for him from his fans, I suppose, as he is a talented young fellow)
