Is any Tamil TV station other than Sun TV likely to enter USA? Europe seems to have a wider selection. Jaya and Vijay TV seem to offer a big varitey progams.

And a damn nasty comment too, to have written to a girl'susheela'. Why dont we all focus on the thread's question which is 'will there be any other TV other than Sun Tv'? If you know the answer, go ahead, contribute. Insulting the person and taking it to adifferent direction and all these... not nice! Hope you take my words in the right perspective . I am NOT being offensive but want all of us to be sensible and sensitive. Thanks.
Now, coming to the question, yes, I too want to know the answer to this querry. Sun Tv is nice in some segments, intolerable mostly, all the serials are one sided, boring and very predictable. I will welcome any other, whoever it may be, TV when it makes its appearance herein US.

i've no comments, only a plea. pls someone change the name of that tv, make it kanniTv. don't change it to sasitv or kala tv or even kalitv. pls. presnet this petition. even karunatv is better. and oh, pls. don't forget to "convert" this tv station.

Well since we took off on a personal note, I have to reaffirm that the question I posed wasnot political in manner. It was as simple as finding out if there were any other options. If you had noticed I had included Vijay tv too. Putting political Innuendos aside lets be loud and clear here. "Are there any other TAMIL Tvs in US or likely to be in the near future?"

check out numtv.com for LIVE webcast of Jaya, Raj and Raj digital along with the movies in these channels for $19/month. They have a telugu channel and a southern music channel as well included in this package. They archive programs upto 10 days so you can watch it anytime. 300kbps stream - if you have a decent net connection(cable modem etc.)you can watch it without any buffering probs.Much better deal than spending on dish and paying 15 bucks/month just for SUN alone.

Answering SK...You can watch webtv on your TV provided you have RCA-out jacks on your PC and RCA-in jacks on your TV. Then with a RCA connector cable you can watch webtv on your TV. From my personal experience, if you use S-Video instead of the RCA video output, the video quality is little much appreciable. But please note that the picture on your TV is defintely not going to be as comparable to regular Tv broadcasts.

The only unbiased is Dhoordharshan. Does anyone want it here in the US? I don't think so. Even, Dhoordharshan may be biased towards the ruling central govt.
Lets watch SunTV its good. Forget about the biased news and so on. Its something we can tolerate.

Why do you want to watch SUN TV, Jaya TV etc.. Brain dead people, no sense of humor, poor understanding of our culture, bad serials with degrading story lines. These people have an idea about Tamil Nadu very backward, they don't realize Tamil Nadu has changed, it is progressive now. People are educated, have a good understanding of social reform, broad minded etc.. But many of the serials show still about varadhachanai, mother-inlaw/daughter inlaw problems-what the hell! Somebody wake up these people, tell them to see the world. I visited last month, what i saw and felt was absolutely great when i visited Madras & B'lore. India is growing fast. It is the time to bring social reform along with economic prosperity. Please Sun TV, Jaya TV , Raj TV people grow up! Make a difference to our Nation! Media is very powerful, please don't waste the money, time and energy in stupid serials which projects a very bad idea about our Great Nation. Already CNN and other western media have done damage to our image, you don't have to join too with your awaful sitcoms.

Be a Roman in Rome. Why do you people want to watch just Tamil programs living in the US? Enjoy the shows that is aired here. Learn this culture as India is become more westernized with globalization especially since more and more companies are going to Chennai and Bangalore which looks like Silicon Valley. Even in small hotels in Chennai they play only western songs as it is preferred by customers! When I asked why they don't play Tamil songs, the reply was that it is not appreciated by the locals (now that is shocking). We in the US send our children to Tamil classes and Sloka classes but most of the kids in India go to German, Japanese or French classes. The kids there watch only Cartoon network, and all the western shows including Oprah. If you want to compete with Indians then quit watching Sun, Jaya, or Num TV and start learning something western from your local TV stations! Those tamil serials are for “retired” and “have nothing to do” people because most of the working adults are slogging 20 hrs a day at work and when they find time to watch TV, they only watch BBC or CNN business segment of the news!

The last posting reads very presumptous and reflects an ignorant understanding of behavioral trends.
The Indian/tamil people in the US send kids to Tamil schools or Sloka classes because there is a paucity of opportunities to provide kids a connection back to the relatives in India or a learning/connection to their religious roots. It is obvious that this need will be non-existent when you live in India/TN because the everyday life of someone living in Madras would be surrounded by reflections of indian culture. Therefore one doesnt need to go to special classes for that.
The story about small hotels only playing western songs - while the fact may be that poster visited one or two hotels where this was a fact - may infact be an overgeneralization of an casual occurance. Even if the overgeneralization was true, if you take an average indian/TN thier exposure to Indian/Tamil programs on a day to day basis will still be larger than a few visits to hotels where they may request western songs.
Similarly, the poster assumes that people wanting Sun TV or Jaya TV is mutally excusive to their watching western programs. The poster is mistaken in his comprehension. For people who have lived away from TN for over 15 years, learing about life/news in Madras on a daily basis is a novelty. When your life is consumed for most of the day by happenings in the US, the programs on Sun or Jaya TV provides entertainment relief.
One can see that there is this common ignorant trend in most of the postings on the TFM page. Ignorant to realize that personal tastes with relation to entertainment are different among different people, there are a few who post to denounce others preferences because they differ from thier owns and they consider theirs superior. I hope these posters drop such presumptuous pose and recognize that such posting reflect a shallow knowledge and sheer ignorance.
