There was a fire at IR's house, read this
http://www.dinakaran.com/tamil.htm
Don't worry there was no danger for IR or his family, but you would still want to read this article as there is something interesting.

Today's Hot News:
There was a break in the water pipes in ARR's house.
The whole house was full of water! What is really
amazing is that, while all the other family members'
things got soaked in water, not even a single
item belonging to ARR had a single drop of water
on it.

As a matter of curiosity, I wonder what would happen if someone were to activate ALL the threads in the archives !!! What Ravi, getting nightmares already ? :-))))

No good TFM music lately. WHERE ARE V HOODED?
Topic started by appaavi@oorukkupudhusu.edu
appaavi@oorukkupudhusu.edu Sorry, I meant WHERE ARE WE HEADED?
moothavar@freeforall.org
It's okay adappaavi, the music of today makes me want to wear a hood in shame.
Malluvaetti@simply.com
Moothavar, where have you been all this time? The real shame is that you haven't heard PARU the Malayalam movie by IR. Especially, you should hear,"Nindae mugam vedichchinnu" a soulful duet in the mellifluous voice of Bhavathaarini and IR himself.
Othuoothu@sidekick.com
Well said Malluvaetti. I too think "Nindae mugam vedhichchinnu" is worlds apart from anything
ARR can dream of doing. Especially the violin and flute interludes in the middle of the third stanza. Soooper. If anyone knows music
they will appreciate the way IR has interpreted Rita Gowli. Shut off all the lights at night and listen to this, you will get tears in your
eyes.
Visiri@dialup.com
RAJA your music is too good sir.
ARRseeval@ethirmunai.net
Forget IR, man he has not done good stuff in years. ARR is the International Star. He brought TFM to Orissa.
REFLECTOR@mirror.net
Sad but true, I was in Orissa last month and everywhere they were playing songs from "Aap Ki Dil Keetha" the Hindi remake of "Super Police". IR has
to come out with a big hit, he needs a big banner movie. He should get back with AVM and VM.
Saambu(123.123.123
Srikanth, as long as you keep dragging down IR. We will come after you. No matter how you change your name.
B.S.Gajendhradas@prarthanai.com
COME ON GUYS STOP THIS NOW. IR NO NEED TO CHANGE HIM. HIS STILL BEST MUSIC WORLDWIDE. GOD BLESS HIM.
Sindhu@sandhula.com
REFLECTOR, do you know where I can get wave files of "Aap Ki Dil Keetha"? I searched everywhere on the net. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the digression.
Srikanth@pickedon.com Sambu,
Once again I'm being dragged into this fight. For your information, I'm not ARRseeval, OK! Vidungappa, I got no time for this, romba
bore adikkuthu. I have my own music to worry about.
SuperFan@logic.com
ARR is the International Star. He brought
TFM to Orissa.
Oh yeah? Then what do you say for the super hit Kannada soundtrack, "Helli helli Sundharavalli" by IR? Not to
mention the Telugu masterpiece "Iruttu Boothalu".
Raja is no.1(202.222.221)
SuperFan, isn't "Iruttu Boothalu" the remake of "Ghost and the Darkness"? Do you know where I can get that tape in Saskatchewan?

TFM_SUBBUDU on TFM
The Trinity of Tamil Film Music
A short history of TFM: From the 1970's, tamil filmdom witnessed a cultural renaissance when art and entertainment rose to high peaks of glory.
This is rightly regarded as the golden age of tamil film music. Tamil Film music lyrics have come a long way from the days of "Manamadha leelaiyai venrar undo" to the days of "Hai ra Hai ra hai rabba". Many eminent lyricists flourished during this period. Of them, Vairamuthu, Vaali and Palani Bharathi stand out prominently for penning lyrics beyond eternity. Vairamuthu's lyrics excel in intricate usage of rhythmic
patterns; those of vaaali in using common man's language; and those of palani bharathi in their usage of words in all languages known to humankind. There were also some small time lyricists like Kannadasan, pulamai pithan,
pattukottai kalayana sundaram etc. Even though these lyricists excelled in writing divine lyrics that complemented every human emotion, they were the best in describing the bhakthi shared by a girl and a guy. Their soulful and moving lyrics created and supported the career of many music directors and singers.
Vairamuthu
Affectionately called as "Mandu kavignar", he introduced the concept of writing algorithmic verses to TFM. He fondly remembers his association with Knuth and dedicates his work to the three volumes written by knuth. It should be interesting to note that vairamuthu started his career as a PL/1 programmer, a move that helped him pen lyrics with so much finesse.
Vairamuthu's versatility can be seen in songs like: "Maniye Manikkuyile malai ilam kadhiralage" , "Idhu oru ponmalai pozhuthu", "Aval varuvala".He wrote some mesmerising lyrics like the following "Fifty KG taj mahal enakke enakka..Fax-il vantha vennilavu enakke enakka" and "Smooth-ai sellum floppy disk aval.. Nenjai allum dolby sound aval".
Vaali
Vaali Contributed immensely to the repertoire of tamil film music. The credit of writing "meaningful " songs also goes to him. TFM listeners vividly recollect his immortal songs like "Nethu rathiri yamma", "Laalakku dol
doppimma kanne gangamma", "Eppadi eppadi samainchadhu eppadi"..Take for example "Chinna raasave chiththerumbu ennai kadikkudhu..". The
lyrics brought out the excruciating pain one feels when a small ant bites. His care for rhythmic sense is brought out in the usage of the following pattern "Jinku jikkui jikku chaa jinku jikku".
Palani Bharathi
According to some TFM pundits, Palani bharathi was the most instrumental in proving "music knows no barriers". His apt and just use of words from hindi and other languages went on to popularise TFM internationally - a feat that no other lyricists can claim to. In a classic song
"Oh pyaari paaani poori bombay naari nee thaan endhan nagma nagma..", palani bharathi skillfully blended the information that nagma is an adorable
spritely young girl from bombay like the quintessential paani poori of bombay. With verses having such profound meaning, he is considered by many to be the only lyricist writing "challenging" verses that provide keen
emotional and intellectual satisfaction to the listeners.
The contributions of these three highly revered lyricists is beyond any one's wildest imagination. This article is a dedication to their talent, commitment and perseverance in educating the TFM lovers.
