  He made sure he gave her songs w/ a feel good touch (ishq bina).. but now.......

  I think she is quite a versatile and talented singer. She hasn't done a lot of songs. But whatever she has sung so far are big hits..though not all of them my favourites.

  ARR didn't introduce ANuradha, it was Deva who gave her the song Meenamma in Aasai. That is why AS sings a song in every Deva movie.

  AS's first song was for ARR in Indira. She did Aasai later for Deva. She is an exceptional singer. Has deep knowledge and is a versatile performer. Very enthusiastic on stage and from what I have read, very frank and down-to-earth. Degrading a person so is in low taste.
  
  
  Regarding O...Podu, the song is a sensational hit in TN. She has sang a mass song that was liked by everyone. Why bring her down so? Are you people trying to say something??? I remember a popular remark by actor Mammooty to a tamil newspaper.

  OK, the original song of "O Podu" is Raangi ranggoli by Lock-Up of Malaysia.

  Saw midnite sreening of Gemini last night.
  O Podu IS the song everyone was waiting for. Rani is extremely fat, losing out to even the back-up dancers. The song had the audience sreaming and singing along everytime "o podu" came about.
  
  The most amazing thing was when the story had ended a duet version of the same song came on. This is the first time I am watching a movie where a FULL song comes after the climax.
  
  If you thought that was amazing, what was even more surprising, was that the entire audience was rooted to their chairs!
  
  The song is extremely danceable as was evidenced by groups of teenagers dancing the second time the song came on.
  
  Bharadway has got himself a winner, without a doubt.

  Though AS sings decent songs like `rOjA poonthOttam' once in a while, she is probably building a reputation of LRE kind, by singing almost all the recent erotic numbers. ( I heard another a few days back, from movie Red, `nAn kAnAnkoLathu meenu, onna kadikkappOrEn etc. I think the song starts like ollikkuchchi odambukkAri, ottippidichA udumbukkAri)

  I think AS is a very versatile singer. Eden, O Podu is far from a erotic song. I learnt today that she also song Soodaamani song in PKS.
  
  There are only a handful of evergreen female singers in TFM such as P Suseela and S Janaki. I thought Chitra will become another legend, but you hardly hear her now. Even IR seems to have abandoned her. :(
  
  Hopefully AS will be the next "star."

  O podu is a very scientific song actually..
  I learnt in chemistry "long back" (makes me sound like a kezhavan doesnt it?) that addition of oxygen and removal of Hydrogen is oxidation reaction..
  O podu = add Oxygen(O2)= oxidation..
  
  and then there's a step where they (disgustingly) "namam potufy" after touching their tongue!
  removal of echa = removal of H = Oxidation!!!!
  
  i hope u've run outta rotten tomatoes and eggs!

  Somehow didnt take too well to Anuradha's voice.

  I dunno about u guyz .. but i personally feel tht it was SPB's voice which made the "o' Podu" a HIT. the solo sung by Anuradha Sriram wasnt very impressive. i like the end of the song when SPB sayz " EH ! O' Podu...(laughs)..". SPB has & never will looses his golden touch !

  SPB's voice is there only in the cassette, in the movie Vikram (yes, the actor) sings the song ... and that makes you wonder HOW they can reject using such a wonderful version by SPB and use a 'well below average' voice of vikram, just for popularity sake ...

  athukkaaka vasanam pesaRathukkum (thats what vikram does), paattu paadaRathukkum viththiyaasam illaiyaa ? his voice has lot of garagara pisiRukaL which I feel won't fit for singing ... (May be there are some exceptional cases !)

  Ranngi Ranngoli is sure not the original of O Podu. As far as I know Bharadwaj has created his own tune based on the kind of music Lock Up produces. For those curious to listen to Ranngi Ranngoli and other songs by Lock Up check out this site...
