IR with MR again?! IR with MR again?!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday's Maalai Malar Cinema Malar (July 5, 2001) says that MR and IR are joining again as if it is a confirmed news and that the hero will be Surya. The same news was put up in www.tamilcinema.com too. What do you all think about the reality of this news?

boring... after roja, b4 every manirathnam movie, i have been hearing this. and its surprising how still people have not bcom tired of it. immdly every press person wud go and harrass ARR . I am sure ARR wud just be totally tired of all these things.

Mani's next movie is "kannathil muthamittal" *ing madhavan, simran. PCS camera. ARR has already been told the situations and he may start composing in a month.

in anycase. this news should be abt mani's madras talkies home production. which always is the source of goissip like this.

anyway agin surprising as to how the same old gossip can rotate again and again for 6 years

i am great fan of illayaraja. it was he who lifted the tamil film music industry from the grave in 1974 through annakili. till 1995-96, he was really the maestro who scored for several hundrd films. he was ably and suitably assisted by jesudas and the versatile genius. but now illayaraja is having lot of singers who are not able to do jusitice to his music. it is high time he reverts back to illayraja-spb-vairamuthu combination and he will defintely stage a wonderful comeback as spb's voice is becoming younger and younger day by day . i will be happy if raja sir sees this message.if he comes out with shankarabaranam like performance with spb, it will boost his morale and lift his spirits.

I am aware of Kannathil Muthamittal. But I think the camera is not by PCS but by Ravi.K.Chandran. ARR has already composed the songs that too in a single night(!) as per the newspapers! I am talking about the MR movie after this film only!

oh! okay then that must be his home production to be directed by someone else(not mani) which is where I was told surya was starring!

If I am correct! mani's next venture cud be with kamal hasaan and in that movie what you say may materialize since kamal is known for promoting IR.

BUt the media buzz has so far been that IR cannot figure in mani's current scheme of things. The demands that mani can make on ARR , he may not be able to make from IR plus mani is also in favor of digital stuff, which IR i believe wud be reluctant to oblidge

i'll believe it when i see it. but i wud certainly say if that happens it will be a significant blow to ARR like it was to IR in 1991.

even though it was MR who gave ARR his first score in Roja, MR's movies music-BGM & songs have really lived up to the standards set earlier by IR.
MOuna Raagam, Agni Nakshatirm,Nayagan, Anjali, Thalapathy- the scores by IR were of a very high order.

Compared to this -Roja -the score was excellent.but unfortunately including much hyped Bombay, Iruvar, Dil se scores by ARR were not as good as Roja.infact the longevity of most of the songs from these movies are lower. some of the songs have been totally forgotten.
Manirathnam's commercial success curve has also been declining staedily. It reached the peak during Thalapathy.

MR should have continued with IR despite IR's idiosyncrasies for he could have maintained his NO 1 stature.

ARR has amazed me with a most creative composition in Nayak - Listen to "Tu Atcha Lagtha Hai"...I think this shows how far can he go to compose...Made me to think a while...from where does it come to mind...

"I'll believe it when i see it" means u have no case in hand as u have no facts on ur side but romors. but on the other hand i have 4 instances were it was rumored that IR-MR was bak again and it just stayed a rumor. If u have a rumor/news which turned out to be true u might have had a point but until then u have none.

True, why to think as if IR himself is spreading rumours. He survived inspite of not having MR/BR in his side. He will survive many more years.

I do not think there is anything for jubilation if MR chooses IR. What is so great about MR? If ARR recycles his tunes, MR recycles situations. Any new movie dirercted by MR will be just the best scenes selected from his earlier movies. ( the only difference was Roja, and that's why it was a great hit.On the other hand, IR has given MR more than what he ever wanted.(think of Idhaya Koil, for e.g).

I wud personally say! after MR/BR split IR's album popularity is in a steady decline. You r right from what IR was in the 80's right now I wud call IR just "surviving" not "living" and there is a difference mind u.

ARR recyles MR recycles. Don't u uys listen to all IR's releases. He recyles his interludes also in some junk albums...

Being an ex-IR fan I think I can cling on to his average performances no more. The speed at which tfm is going IR is now in 1st gear.

IR neednt spread rumors. Its the die hard fans, who know how imp a movie is for the sucess of music, who r desparately spreading the rumor.

why wud a person who hates IR want top spread such rumors

Could you give me some examples of IR's recycles of interludes in Junk albums. If you do not like his recent compositions do not listen to it. But do not throw false accusations on the one and only original composer who is actively composing sucessfully undeterred by the invasion of mediocre pop-style composers.

well we all change for the better. I for one object to music being in foreground movies. songs as background soundtrack and individual albums wud be a good change now that we've started have network TV.

MR has tried it twice and gave up in the final moments. he may do it some day.

songs r artificial in movies. If we didnt get used to it we wud probably laugh at it. I think its a very big factor as to why Indian movioes do not get international recognition. Its becauseof the artificiality introed by songs and dances in movies.

Englishmovies had musicals in the old days but they slowly faded away and only rarely do we see musicals nowadays. same goes for a lot other countries movies.

Ok I agree that songs r artificial with U.
U tell me one thing :
How much naturality is there in English films ??
All the fights which r in the Eng films are
1000000 % artifitial.
Only naturality I see in English movies is a
mouth kiss ( which is against our culture ).

U never tell that Eng films r great ( with some
exceptions ).
If our heroins r ready to expose like holly wood
Heroins and there r no sensor restrictions Indian films would have got a different recognition.

Kamal faced pblem in getting Heroin for Hram
as no one is willing to have a mouth kiss.

One more thing is English films have lot of technology thats all.
They r no more natural.

It is the lack of technology which make Indian films not that effective.

So never tell that Eng films r natural.
They r technically equipped stuffs thats all.

Never think that Indian fims cannot get internatioal recognition.

We have a lot of culture, Try to respect it.

Main drawback withh Indians is they will always
feel that others r superiors.
