Vijay's GILLI

Vijay's GILLI is the remake of the Telugu smash Hit OKKADU, which had Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika. The Tamil film is produced by A M Ratnam and directed by Dharani. But who is the Music Director. Is it Vidhyasagar, because the directer is Dharani or is it Mani Sharma, because he composed the Telugu original. Will it have the same tunes from Telugu, because they were super hits??

  MRs gets better tunes extracted? Total non-sense.
  
  Listen to his early movies made with IR. There is no parallel to those songs till date.
  
  Taking a movie like Roja copied of a real life incident is not a big achievement. MR copies a whole lot. All this movie themes are from English (Nayagan)or Epics like Mahabharat (Thalapathi). However a few exceptions like Mouna Ragaam are there. I am not denying that. He is certainly not as a heavy writer or thinker as BR.

  This movie has raving reviews so far!
  May be the press dont want Rathnam[the producer] to become bankrupt!
  Want to save him!
  But, I watched the original. 'okkadu'.
  That was really nice.

  ...Nobody has even come close to MR in portraying love realistically.
  Alaipayuthe, mouna ragam, bombay, roja showed realistic couples. Also Anjali.
  I am sorry only a guy on drugs will compare MR to Cheran and will say Cheran is better...

  aren't u going a little over-board here? clubbing a silly movie (as far as the romance scenes go) like bombay along with mouna ragam and alaipayuthe?!!
  
  lets see. a guy comes to his village and sees a girl with her face covered.. he sees only her eyes and her figure and falls in love with her. he manages to tell her to come over to some place, and when she is a little late, he (and she) cry as if their hearts are about to break.. uyire..uyire..
  
  I remember when I saw the movie how absolutely ridiculous that scene seemed. Even the other "love" scenes (after they got married) were irritating in that movie.
  
  Cheran is one of the best directors we have now..so it is not entirely preposterous if some think he is better than the current ManiRatnam.
  and BTW I have never even seen drugs in my life! :)

  Music is a big let down, i heard!
  Also heard that Karuns's comedy is hilarious!
  Butg the sad part is that the producer has been so badly exploitedby Dharani by wasting a lot of raw film in the shoots and re-taking several times the same scene in the name of perfection and the latest rumour is tht even if the film runs for 100 days, the producer [rathnam] may never be able to even break-even!   Vijay is slowly coming to some acceptable levels of acting, i have watched only two films of Vijay till date (kadaluku mariyathai and Khushi) and this one seems okay from the bits i saw where he pranks his sis.

Dharani is such a sick director.Vikram's grace saved the day for him in his previous movies.This time he failed the hopes that vijay had on him.Okkadu is far better than this movie.If a director get a movie from Vijay, how could he make such a crap.Better luck next time Vijay.

  so gilli last night here's my feelings towards it
  
  Gilli is another fast paced masala film, except it is treated differently to make it entertaining.
  
  Minus points:
  extremely long chase scene before interval...felt like 15-20 min but i dont kno how long it really was.all i kno was it was long and my thoughts started to wonder.
  
  action sequences have sum silly moves.
  
  Masala film all the way
  
  Plus points:
  Fast paced movie where you don't even realize the time passing by.The comedy is all situational so no unnecessary side track to slow down the pace.Songs are picturized well and doesn't cause the audience to start squirming and whining. You can tell vijay worked hard in this film.Instead of his usual "i dont care" attitude which he usually uses.
  
  Set design of the rooftop was nicely done and deserves special mention.
  Vijay's acting,dancing and comedy
  Trisha' acting,dancing and looks
  Prakash Raj as the suitor is hilarious and has as many cheers from the audience as Vijay,especially with his "I love you da"
  Vijay's sister does a good job for a kid...and is suppose to be annoying she plays the lil sister who gets his older bro in trouble.
  Refreshing to see Ashish (villain in dhil,baba and other movies) to play a good guy role
  
  Worth a watch in the theaters if you want simple masala entertainment.It's a very good movie when ur in the masala mood.and just a okay movie when you're not.

  The film's called Billi! ;)
  And it's a remake of a teelegu film called Okkadont! :)

  Saw some parts of gilli. Movie seems to be a real good one. worth watching atleast once.
  You cant keep expecting every movie to be a classic..
  
  masala movies are also a must. atleast once in a while..
  
  waiting for the movie to release in bangalore.
  
  by the way the song "kokkarakko" is a big hit in bangalore dance bars.
