AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  Guys this is getting stupid.
  There is a place to post about IR. This is the place to post about ARR.
  Give everybody a chance to give there views, after all this page is merely opinions.

  My respect for IR fans has sunk to unreachable lows!
  
  However I respect IR and think he is an unreachable tower and an icon that takes 'piravi' once in million years.

  Ale Ale is great. The rest of them don't impress!
  
  Karthik excels in Ale Ale.
  
  ARR disappoints with the rest of the songs, specifically choice of singers. Lyrics are bad too.

  It's been a nightmare situation for the admin to maintain this thread. They are doing a good job.
  
  Fanatism comes in different shapes and colours in this forum. Fanatism does not determine the value of the Icon. IR and ARR will have their own space within their respective acheivements. The fanatics who (mis)interpret their Icons,sometimes, do struggle to identify their own space. This results in disruption due to intrusion of space.
  
  For example, there are ARRfans who respect both IR and IRfans, and vise versa (music is the common space here). There are IRfans who respect ARR but hate ARRfans, vice versa (some intrusion is tolerable). There are ARRfans who hate both IR and IRfans and vice versa (impossible to co-exist). Is it any wonder, that this thread reflects what the state of newtfmpage is?

  Wow! What an album!!!!!!! This is what we want.A very good album after a long time.It’s worth the wait.He has proved wrong the critics that he has lost that magic touch.
  My first impressions were good and after listening twice I could sense that this album is going to create waves.
  1)GIRL FRIEND-A very good song sung by KARTHIK.,good rhythm and music that the song grows strong on you.Sure hit.
  2)DATING-A song of the type of “EY EY ENA ACHU-KADHAL VIRUS” resembling some Black type songs with Indian strains .Nice experimentation.A refreshing change.The sore point is that too many English words fill the song that it’s only a doubt how this song reaches the layman.
  3)ALE ALE-The pick of the album.Good music and excellent singing by Karthik.Need many more songs like this.
  4)SECRET OF SUCCESS-The strength of the song lies in the lyric value and excellent rhythm and wizard work of ARR.Again Rashid Ali and Kabuli the guitarists have proven their calibre with their great guitar work.
  5)BOOM BOOM-Good song by ARR.Would be better if it had been sung by an Tamil artist.
  6)MARO-Resembles the LAGAAN beats.But the song is already making waves.
  Not a bad deal if we buy original cassettes and CD’s.
  
  This is the first time after a long time that ARR has come with some fast foot tapping numbers that makes a big impact.

  Pls don't put him so high. For some of u living in wells, u may think ARR had invented or created such music or beats or wateva. But u must realise that many of us don't live in wells and also live outside Indian. Many of us are exposed to almost every genre of music and have already mentioned how much ARR copies from world wide. And if that's not enuf, even in his Boys album he copied some portion from Shankar-Eshaan-Loy's 'Koi Kahe..'. Someone went to the stage of asking Eshaan abt this and his reply was somewhat nice and professional. BUT u clearly can tell that Eshaan DID NOT say 'no' and just shunned away!.

  hey guys...stop being nasty and appriciate the songs ya ok... the songs r good...i am a die hard ARR fan, but still i am a hugh critic too of ARR...ya....every music composer for some extent borrows ya from the west...so just beat it!!! just listen to songs and enjoy it...rather than sayings its bad..copied..bla.bla..
  if u guys cant enjoy "boys" songs then i seriously suggest that u guys rethink what do u know about music...!!!!!

  BoyZ is lively, pleasant and enjoyable. It stays true to what it sets out to be - Youthful. Don't get very serious trying to read too much into the music. It is very much a 'take it easy policy', so if one wants to compare, fish for inspirations or copies, then one is going to lose the whole point, that is to just enjoy the songs freely!! Wish I was back in my undergraduate days, it would have been fun in those late night discotheques.

  I'll tell u all something, "Boys" is a fantastic album that's it, it worth buying the album...arr has proved the critics wrong any day whom ever may comment whatever ARR is the best.

  i want to say something about coping --it is high praise indeed to those MDs whom ARR supposedly copied from!! But who cares the music is fresh, youth ful and full of fun--Great work ARR !!! keep it up. i am enjoying the songs tks to Deva,Shangker&E-L, MJ and our great IR--tks a lot U guys for giving ARR such inspiration!!!
