IR and Jayalalitha - Similarities

As all of you well known about the arrogance of them.
There are some more: Both were at their peak during 1991 to 1993. Their drastic downfall started in 1994,1995. Any more thoughts?

  I want to narrate an incident. At the time he was at the peak (1989), I and my brother wanted to see an IR recording session. We looked up his home number in the directory and called his home. His wife picked up and said yes he was recording that day and at Prasad. We went there. IR was sitting outside,because there was a powercut. No jalra koottam around him. We went to him and asked him if he would let us watch the recording. He said "Yes. Please go to the console room. As soon as power comes back, we will start" We went and sat inside. When the power came back, he came in and started his work. He was very relaxed and sometimes joking with the other people. After the session, we said "thanks" to him and left. We spent close to 4 hours there, and what we saw was a man who got very intense about his work, a man that did not like to waste time, a man who inspite of being intense was not creating a tense atmosphere for his colleages.
  
  A cousin of mine took his sister to him for an audition. He too said that he found no problems accessing IR, he pretty much did what we did - went to Prasad and walked up to IR directly and spoke to him. IR asked for a casette containing a Thyagaraja Krithi sung by the sister. They delivered the casette and called him after a couple of days and he asked her to come for a live audition.

  KK.... in fact i also felt the same way..... not only that, when i came here, i thought of going back in 4-5 years..... so i did not apply for GC..... but now i think i should apply for it :-)...
  
  hey, but this election did some *good things* too....
  
  1. No more *jaadhi* katchi's in TN.... man, i really like that..... a complete wash out of all the *jaadhi* katchi's
  
  2. May be in future, the MLA's and MP's might not take people for granted (like the DMK MLA's did - they thought, that people are never going to vote for AIADMK) (will this happen ????)

  It is unfortunate that many people are under the impression that IR is an arrogant person. I beleive that he is a simple man , and there is always a shy villager in him. Just one proof: IR and MSV have scored music for a couple of films, when indeed IR was at the peak of his career. IR has also publicly expressed his regards for MSV's compositions. Apart from that he has worked with a hugh numbers of lyricists and directors. From well-known Mani Rathnam to little known Pavithran, from Vairamuthu and Vaali to Na. Kaamarasn and Muthu lingam ... a lot of lives of taken shelter under this great banyan tree. Just compare this to ARR: You have to be a Subash Ghai or Shankar or Vairambuthu to get even access to him, leave alone working with him. Beacuse probably ARR knows that he is a super-hit because of the fantastic visuals of a Sriram/Ashokkumar or the meaningful lyrics of Javed Akhtar/Vairamuthu or the choreography of a dozen white models for a very ordinary song (like Haire Haire Hairabba from Jeans ...) or just the great recoding of H.Sridhar and Sivakumar of Panchathan Record Inn.
  
  IR on the other hand has worked with little known directors, lyricists and singers for numerous films. It only means that he was more accessible than others, though he was immensely popular and successful. Hence let us not be carried away by such statements and sratr comparing him with the likes of JJ.

  subash ghai, shankar manirathnam .. all have each done 3-4 movies aith ARR so far.. does that mean ARR did only a totaly of 15 movies in his career.
  
  wake up and see the numbers...50-60% of his movies r with unknown people...
  
  maybe great men deserve to work only with greater people... plus times have changed in the 90's... song picturization was essential to extend the mass appeal and reach of a well composed song... if not the well-composed song is wasted...in an unknown movie...
  
  IR wasnt awake to the fact ...which resulted in some of the good songs he composed for trash movies go unnoticed and most of the movie he composed for trash directors/cinematographers/thinkers flopped and hence he was pushed into oblivion..
  
  except for a few nostralgics who still remember hard the "great IR" ... ARR is the cynosure of all the "producers " eyes. hey its big bucks time man.. no use seeing good music if that doesnt make money...

  Tell me one ARR that had less known director/ producer/ actor. Except for few early movies like puthiya mugam. Others had atleast one big name.
  
  Great people work with great people. Good.But Great people are not born great, some one has to accept them before becoming great. If IR thought Mani is newcomer, he would had only Sankar ganesh to work with. If Mani thought ARR is a new comer, ARR would'nt have got a good debut.
  
  I feel ARR should channelise his bandwidth giving chance to promising new comers too. Its sad, he hasnt worked with likes of cheran, agathiyan, surya etc. If rajni can use ARR at will, why not upcoming directors?.
  
  Just because Kathir is director with good picturising skills doesnt mean, he will give good situations. Think of him describing a situvation to ARR. "We have a dream institue and guys are watching girls", "one hero loses his girl to other hero" etc.
  What would you expect in terms of inspiration. First director should inspire the MD, and MD should inspire directors in terms of picturisation. Look at Mani's songs on the otherhand.

  is it arr's fault to have only worked for big names ? why did the "so called" big and famous approch him ?, (John williams has worked mostly with StevenS and few other big time directors only..)
  
  secondly, are there many "small time" director who has worked with kamal ?, he perfers himself or someone better than him ?
  The case is some what Similar here,
  
  1. Arr is costly.
  2. The "biggies" know how to work with arr.
  (Hey! it not easy to tackle or handle a huge resource like arr (or kamal) )
  3. Investment is quite high, so they want someone
  who gets them back the money,
  4. Arr is cool chap with less ego., (not like kamal:)
