Why are most of the songs by Malaysian Tamil bands & artistes are all sounding the same ???
I mean most of the songs are based on the same simple drum beat, screeching guitar sound, fast-rap like shouting vocals, etc which is the trend started by those "saavi" band and their song
"sister's daughter". They somehow call this style as "samba rock".
Any "ulloor" (local) Tamil song you listen to, whether in radio stations, TV, audio shop, functions, etc ... you will listen to this type of song only ... Why do the bands & artistes just copy or follow this style ? Are there no other styles in music or they don't know any other style that exist in music ?? Are there no creativity among Tamil musicians in Malaysia ??
Most of the Malaysian Tamil songs are in this style that one music director from Tamil cinema thought this is Malaysian Tamil music and used it in his song "O podu". Now many Tamil cinema songs are using this "O podu" style ...
Just because that "sister's daugther" song somehow became famous among Malaysian Tamil youth, the other bands, artistes, recording labels, producers, etc are just churning out songs only based on this "kaatthaan" sound ... when you listen to the sound, it reminds you of uncivilized jungle inhabitants dancing wildly & performing their rituals ...
Also the Malaysian Tamil bands & artistes ... they all look like drug addicts, criminals, cult worshippers, gangsters, etc. Long untidy hair, weird moustache-beard styles, ear-rings nose rings, black attire, angry look like want to whack somebody, etc ...
Even their band names & album names sound crazy & gothic ... "sudugadu", "devil ana", "peyi", etc. All they know is heavy metal, rock, rap, hip-hop ... only the youngsters who are same "case" like these bands & artistes listen & support them ... nobody else listens or support this so called "musicians" ... bcoz there is really nothing to enjoy in these songs ... just unpleasing sound ...
if want to criticize more, can keep on going but only wasting time ... what happened to Tamil music in Malaysia ? Is this Tamil music in Malaysia ? Nobody can do real good music among Tamil people in Malaysia ?
"...vaalga Malaysia Tamil isai ..."

yeah ,i agree with you ekam satyam....all they do is bang their head on the air like some maniac and wail their lungs out like perfoming some evil ritual or something......:))
hey but now there are some decent bands around which produce more ear-friendly music...
did you check out chakra sonic??they're kinda cool, they produce hip hop music..damn cool dancers too..one of them used to be a dancer with too phat..
their songs are quite good though one song from their album sounded so like eminem and dido's 'stan'.

We created the beat indian cinema music directors
copied it,as usual they are any time better than us.The comment KESEVAN(0164613305)gave is fantastic because that is what he is.Geethanjali did good because Rehka had music knowledge but most of the job was done in India using their musicians and technology.
Made In India , Released In Malaysia

Listen to Singapore's Elamai Enbathu - a new Tamil movie by Singapore. It sounds horrible! But the two MD's technologocal effort is appreciated. The CD was distributed for free in OLIS M3. 6zer's Engge En Rasigan is worth listening.

Well much as been said about malsyain musician.
What u guys dont know is there r lot of talented indian musicisians in malaysia. But little play tamil numbers cos there isnt any money in it. Those who involve themselves in tamil music can be categorised as (A) the learned but not bothered to do any good for malaysian tamil musicians cos they think they r great. (B) the arayum-kurayum fellas playing in the bands. Though these guys dont hardly have any musicial knowledge like their India counterparts, yet some of them can really play well, namely Appu, Nallathamby, Tabla ravi etc. This guys r just take music as their part-time hobby, not rice bowl. So, they don't bother to enhance malaysian music because they have other better things to do. (C)Talented & energetic youngsters not knowing the finelity of tamil music because they were not thaught or exposed since childhood to basic music lessons. All they know is ROCK & HEAVY METAL since these types of musics dont need much talent and no need to learn music from chilhood. These is cheap type of music found everywhere in the world and nothing wrong in performing it in malaysia by our boys. The music itself is identified with long hair, messy dressing, earrings etc. in western world. So, if indian need to play sitar seating, so whoever in the world want to play sitar MUST SIT DOWN! Why cannot stand? Because that is the way the instrument and music is presented through the sitar, isnt it? So, whats wrong with our fellas playing rock music the way it should be performed?
Please dont judge Malaysian talent wrongly. All u have been hearing and looking at one side only. Come and see, talk to these ROCKERS then you will know who they r. Be pity to these guys. They hardly know basic music to give u better music, dont have money to produce a better album (always get cheated by promoters) and no support from our own contrymen.

Reply to Ekam Satyam,
We can do something good for Malaysian Tamil Music if all the buddings youngsters get together and form their own 'KALAINYAR ARAVAARIYAM'. Please dont compare this with current one that creating wealth for some individuals and feeding some 'old & sickly' Muttha kalainyar.
This organisation should teach tamil & western music to the youngsters from young age. Parents should send their children to learn music the proper way. An institute created to learn music and playing instruments exclusively for tamil music.
Don't just talk! Try to understand the real situation sorrounding the Malaysian Tamil Music Industry. Lot of betrayel, cheat, torturing, yelling etc.
Besides, No support from parents, NGO, leaders and public.
Can u do something beside talking a lot?

Do any of you know what is important to make your music, song sound professional?Yes good recording which nobody seems to know.Don't give me the excuse that, no we have done good recording. If you have done a good recording than it should sound like a cinema song.We have the equipments, recording studios but we don't have the expertise. From the 1960's to 2000's we still debate about malaysian songs.Do any of you remember our singer Mr.Sarangapani sang a son with P.Susila in a tamil movie in India.Nobody could belive it was sarangapni because he sounded 100% Indian playback singer. But only in the cinema could you get that quality.Even if you ask the same music director to compose and do recording on their own without involing the cinema sound engineer's than it would also sound like our local sound.Do any of you remember the songs Vitiyasagar did for Manimala and the songs Susila Menon did everything was done in India, but it still sounded local .Now do get what i mean. One more last reminder to you all unless you learn the recording secret that they use in the Cinema what ever songs you compose and record will still be Malaysian Local Songs.Thank You.

Any one can, child /young /old can tell you this song is cinema and this is local. How it it possible, ask yourself this question. The Geethanjaliz-Vaanavil Talent Quest Finalist(album) still sounds local.OK lets take Alinda to India let her sing in cinema, music composed by AR.Rahman,do you think she will sound like in Geethanjaliz album? No way my man she will off cause sound like Sujatha or any other cinema singer. Some of you will say,of cause la she will sound like cinema singer,AR Rahman is doing the music.Let me remind you the equipments AR Rahman has in his studio are the the same in any other professional recording studio.Don't tell me his equipments come from the moon.OK where did he get this knowledge of doing good music/recording?Of cause he learned it.Now do you get what i mean.
